Best AC Wifi Rage Extender Yet!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Helios-EX RE2200T is the new Tri-band 802.11ac wave 2 range extender from Amped it uses “DirectLink” technology to create a dedicated 5GHz link to the home network, freeing up the remaining two bands, resulting in up to 2X the speed of other extenders. Amped has equipped this extender with a Quad Core Arm Processor, 4 antennas (one internal and three external) The unit packs (4) 5ghz reception ampifiers and (4) 5ghz high power tranmission amplifiers. It also has (2) 2.4ghz reception and (2) 2.4 ghz high power transmission amplifiers. Normal extenders receive the signal from the original router and rebroadcast that signal to Wi-Fi clients. This reduces an extender's efficiency by 50 percent. The Helios-Ex “DirectLink” technology creates a dedicated 5GHz link to the home network, freeing up the remaining two bands This unit also uses MU-MIMO technology that enables multiple devices to receive data at once, great for households with multiple wireless devices. The normal set up is to connect to your main wifi router with a 5 GHZ “DirectLink” and the Helios-Ex transmits a 5ghz and 2.4ghz signal from that. You can connect to a 2.4ghz WiFi signal as well but it is not necessary or recommended if you have a good 5ghz signal. I used this extender to replace my Linksys RE7000 and the speed was remarkably better. On top of the increased speed the range of the extender was at least double any other extender I have ever owned. The setup was very easy just connect wirelessly to the network created by the router Amped_HeliosEX_2.4 or Amped_HeliosEX_5.0 and connect to the web interface using a browser http://setup.ampedwireless.com and follow the prompts. Link to the directions here http://www.ampedwireless.com/docs/setupguide/RE2200T_SetupGuide_English.pdf If you want the best performance make sure your base router has 5ghz wireless AC and is at least Dual band. The max speeds you can achive are 2.4GHz 399Mbps, 5GHz 866Mbps + 5GHz 866Mbps. This will vary (I get 232Mbps) using 5GHz. This router is compatible with all Apple networking features, AirPlay®, AirPrint™, & Home Sharing. There is a USB 3.0 connector for a drive that you can share on the network. There are 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports on this extender for wired game consoles, Smart Tv and other devices. With all the improvements Amped packed into this Extender you can get up to 12,000 SqFt of coverage depending on your environment. Thanks to Amped I now get a solid 5ghzWiFi signal on my back deck and yard as well as every nook and cranny of my WiFi unfriendly house!

Great signal with fast speeds throughout!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently set this up in my home with my wifi mesh system (a major brand). I thought it would have difficulty connecting, but it immediately recognized my network (with 100% signal) and started the setup quickly. I wish this had the ability to share the same SSID, but you're stuck with the need to have a unique identifier for this one (both 2.4 and 5 Ghz frequencies). What I really loved about this, was the fact that it was providing full internet speed on the 5ghz frequency to my iPhone in 4 different rooms. I pay for 300 Mbps, and was getting 325 easily on speedtests from the speedtest apps available. My other devices were also reporting faster speeds from the start. I'm really impressed with this. If you have a standard router (modem/router combo's or a standalone router) and need more dead zone coverage, this is a great product. Especially if you don't want to spend $400 on a new mesh system. If you're wanting the same SSID, and roaming, I'd recommend a mesh system. However, for the price some of those major standalone MU-MIMO routers, this is a great add on. I also appreciate the ability to turn the LEDs off with a button on the back. I hooked this up to an existing switch also, and those devices immediately picked up on the added speed. It also comes with a stand, but it wasn't the easiest to pop on; took some effort.

Does the Job
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a good extender to reach the wireless security camera in my shed. I could not easily relocate my wireless router and cable modem to another location to get around obstacles, like my refrigerator, for example. All I needed was a good high speed solution to repeat my WiFi through. This unit performs flawlessly. The setup was easy and I used its 5 ghz bridging capability to give the HD security camera full speed access. Everything works like a charm and I cannot ask for more. If it holds up over time, then it will be worth every penny.

This replaced a net gear power line
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the netgear power line and it reduced my Mbps from 175 to 11. I got this repeater, set it in a window and speeds are far better plus wireless. Setup is not smooth so go over the instructions before installing. Sorry but I forget the exact point of frustration but it did tweek me a bit. It has its own name and password. So i connect to it when closer and to my xfinity when closer to it. It works well, better than the plug in power line.

Great Wifi extender
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just what I needed for those dead spots in my house. This wifi extender was easy to set up, just attach the antennas and plug it in. I set it up with my iPhone and it was super easy. For a while I needed a wifi extender that will cover all my house since I get a lot of dead spots around like in my porch, some areas in the living room, and now after connecting this extender I'm cover at least for 12 sq ft maybe more since I only have one floor in my house. If you get this extender make sure you connect it to a dual band router, that way you can use the extender with the 5GHZ network, work faster and awesome for that smart tv or mobile devices. The Helios-EX extender also have storage port and 5 ports to connect wired devices which is awesome ; you can move the extender anytime anywhere if you think is not getting the best signal and it will not loose the configuration. What I like most is the speed and the coverage. This product has work much better than my old Netgear extender.

Range extender that works well-Simple Setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The range extender works well and I was able to achieve maximum speeds for my DSL modem. The setup was very simple and straight forward and the signal is strong in my two story home. This is the first range extender that I've used and I am pleased with it. It has the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless with four of the lower speed amplifiers and eight of the high speed amplifiers. Additionally, it has three Wi-Fi radios and physical ports. This is a quality product with a well thought out design.

Uninspired design but it gets the job done
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Summary: Though this extender isn’t the best designed or the most fairly priced, it gets the job done with good range and speeds. The plastic used on this extender feels cheap but Amped has textured the top giving it a nice brushed metal look. The antennas are not spaced evenly, a small knock to make against it, but it takes away from the appeal of the device when placed flat on a table. It does have the ability to be stood up vertically, which allows it to ventilate better. This repeater connects to your router and broadcasts as a separate network which might be inconvenient for some. It does however retain the same IP address network from the parent router which means you will be able to connect to the repeater and see any devices connected to the parent router. I use all the ethernet ports on the back of the device to connect my electrical engineering test equipment. It’s critical that I have a good connection with all the equipment to get consistent and accurate measurements. While admittedly this is a very special use case, I was able to connect to all my equipment and operate it reliably which is a testament to the overall capability of the product.

Repeats Signal without slowing down or dropping
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This repeater seems to work well from my early experience with it. When i positioned it as directed, about mid way between router and low signal area, it would provide good coverage and speed (better than any other repeater I have tried, and this is probably my fourth or fifth). The fact that it seems to dedicate a channel to the router and two separate channels for clients is brilliant and really makes this model stand out to me. As a repeater, keep in mind it creates a separate SSID (net name) so you'll have to (potentially manually) switch to the 'new' network (or switch back when moving between)-- but that's more a flaw of the product category rather than the products themselves.

Great Range Extender that's easy to operate
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used a plugin style range extender for the last couple of years and found it to be average at best. My signal was extended but seemed to run slower through that unit. I was pleasantly surprised by the Helios EX unit in terms of the ease of setup and the true range extension with speed (assuming from the DirectLink technology). The unit is easy to setup, I used my iPhone and had no issues. Pros: Easy setup with most any device type Great range extension with speed Overall product build seems very durable Can be mounted vertically or horizontally to fit into available spaces AirPrint support Cons: Haven't found any yet!

Works well as a wired access point
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this thing as wired access point. That requires setting it up manually and not using the wizard. I cannot comment on the wireless bridging capabilities of this device. My setup has a wire running from the router to this WiFi Extender. I have DHCP turned off and 5GHz and 2.4GHz networks are on different channels but with the same name and password. I have not had any issues with devices not automatically switching between the two when the signal goes bad. Hard wired doing a transfer between two computers I have not found my cap as the limiting factor was a mechanical hard drive on one of the computers, but the speed I got was a sustained 800 mbps. On the wireless at less than 10 feet doing a speed test on a mobile phone I got a sustained 400 mbps (which happens to be my maximum download speed).
