    Good Extender

A really good extender. Powerful and setup was easy. Plug it in and then connect to it by a laptop, tablet, or phone. Once connected, log into the extenders website and follow the instructions, or setup manually. I did both and they worked fine from a laptop. You can even turn off the LED lights by a switch on the back. Once setup, my devices connected to it and got to the internet. The range was good, as described. The manual does say to be in the 70% signal range of your wireless router for the best extender performance. I went all over my house and had no problems with connections, and had a powerful signal. It has 5 built in Gigabit ports, but it is switch only. You cannot connect to the device by a wired connection. As the product says, it's an extender only. So, an extender with a 5-port switch built in. The only thing to think about is do you want a dedicated extender, extender/wap or a router for the price. A full router, or plug in extender will probably not give you the range of this device. The device works well, and if you need help, their website has additional information and videos on setup.

    Range Extender Extreme!

I was concerned when receiving this as to whether it would live up to all the hype put out about this range extender. I found out there was nothing to be concerned about. I had also heard that it was very hard to set up. With a rather good knowledge of networking, it was actually a snap. I did, however, watch the setup video as many had suggested and confirmed that I had set it up correctly. If I was a complete novice or limited network knowledge I could see the concern, but with the video it was simple. Now to the operation of the extender, was it worth it or not... I can tell you that this is truly a powerful range extender to the point of being almost stronger than my main router. In fact, it put my router company's own range extender to shame. It has been running solidly without issue for a few weeks now, and nary a hiccup. It even properly rebooted after a thunderstorm induced power outage. If you have a large or difficult home setup that other range extenders are having a hard time covering, this Amped Wireless Helios range extender will make you a happily networked person. Good shopping!

Repeats Signal without slowing down or dropping

This repeater seems to work well from my early experience with it. When i positioned it as directed, about mid way between router and low signal area, it would provide good coverage and speed (better than any other repeater I have tried, and this is probably my fourth or fifth). The fact that it seems to dedicate a channel to the router and two separate channels for clients is brilliant and really makes this model stand out to me. As a repeater, keep in mind it creates a separate SSID (net name) so you'll have to (potentially manually) switch to the 'new' network (or switch back when moving between)-- but that's more a flaw of the product category rather than the products themselves.

I read a couple of other reviews on this product, and I'm in agreement that set-up left something to be desired. It wasn't a terrible experience, but it took more than one try. With all of our awesome new technology, why is set-up still such an issue with some items? All of that being said, I did get it set-up and working, and so far I'm liking the results. I've used other wi-fi extenders before, but they were cheaper and really didn't help. They were also set-up much differently. With other extenders I've used, they basically "extend" your already existing channels. This is pretty hit or miss, and I wasn't happy with the results. However, the Helios-Ex adds two new channels to your already existing wi-fi network. This is most useful for households that have a lot of devices connected (which I do - 11 or 12 at last count). On top of that, the Helios-Ex says that it extends your network up to 12,000 square feet. Now, unless you're living in a mansion...I can't imagine why anyone needs to cover that much area. I haven't tested the limits of this 12,000 square feet (I don't know that my neighbors would take too kindly to me setting up shop in their living room), but I haven't experienced any issues in or immediately around my house. I can sit in my car in the driveway and still get a strong signal on my phone (which I could not before). Someday, maybe all new products will be fool proof when it comes to set-up. For now, at least I got it working, and I'm happy with the results. Honestly, it might be a little bit of overkill (at the price point and 12,000 square feet of coverage), but if that's what you're looking for, this delivers.

    Great Wireless Extender

This is definitely a great wireless extender that can be used to extend your home network. This device has some great features, first and foremost a switch to turn of the LED's on the device. This is something I wish more makers of electronics would do, provide a way to shutoff the LED's. This device is already winning me over. Setup was great. It was simple and unlike other device manufactures who think we want to use our phones to setup these devices and hide all the settings from us, Amped Wireless didn't. I could connect easily to the device from my desktop computer, (which was a distance away. The Radio's on this thing are rocking) and get it setup. They make it fairly easy to get going and get connected to my home network. Once it was extending my wireless network, I then modified the standard setup to meet my needs and another nice thing is, it allowed me to not reboot after every setting change, something else I wish wireless routers would do more of, since I change I a lot of the settings to suit my needs. Once I did that and reboot its rocking on my network. The only downside, is it is truly an extender, so unlike mesh wireless routers you see you get multiple networks one for your main network and one for your extended network, so if you like walking around with the device you'll need to setup both profiles and expect a small disconnect and switch over as you roam. That is the only downside, however I'm using this to extend my network and bring some CAT-5 connections to devices I have in my upstairs bedroom and office. I don't have an issue with this, but others who might want seamless roaming this might not be the device for you. That one downside covered this is a great device. It has all the modern needs, MU-MIMO, numerous bands to feed devices at a great throughput and it is powerful. Other nice features is the ability to control the power output if you don't want to bleed your signal into next week. This is device can transmit. My Desktop which is no where near the dead spot that is upstairs bedroom had no problem talking to Amped Wireless extender. To test the device I a USB hard drive connected to my main router, and the speed difference from the desktop over Ethernet directly to the usb hard drive and over wireless via the extender, rooms away was about 5MB/s. Not much difference at all for a 2GB file. This is something I consider great that both the Ethernet connection and wireless were able to MAX out the USB Hard drive buffer and get a constant flow is wonderful, esp. considering the Desktop computer was not placed near the wireless extender. This is a wonderful device with only the con of not being able to do seamless roaming, but with 4 ports for Ethernet connections and USB 3.0 connection for devices on the back and able to extend my network and root all dead spots in my home this is a perfect device and I don't hesitate at recommending it in the least. Please note my main router is a Linksys EA9500, which is a high end monster of a router, so mileage may vary depending on house and wireless router used to extend the network and how many neighbors you have nearby taking up open channels.

I thought my current router was pretty awesome. I just thought I had to live with 3 bars of wifi signal in the workshop, which is in the far corner of my basement. I got this extender so that I could have better signal in the garage and backyard getting ready for summer outdoor fun. This extender gives me full signal everywhere -- garage, yard, basement, workshop, everywhere. Really impressive. It was quick and easy to setup. My devices with AC connectivity have all moved over to the superior signal of the extender!

In my home we are pretty connected. Between game consoles, smart TVs, video streaming devices, tablets, phones, laptops and computers bandwidth can sometimes be an issue as well. I was anxious to see if the tri-band extender would help. With the tri-band you get one 5gHz band known as their "Directlink" to the router and then 2.4gHz and 5gHz bands for device connectivity. My home is rougly 1800 sq ft and single story so getting wi-fi coverage from one end of the house is usually not a big problem but there is some signal loss in the far back corner of the master bedroom. It wasn't a huge problem as we usually could get a medium strength signal however I picked up the Amped Wireless AC2200 Wi-Fi Range Extender hoping that it will help fill the gap and provide a stronger signal in the far corners. Amped states that the extender can cover 12,000 sq ft of space so I'm far from testing the limits of what it can do. Setup was super simple. Plug it in to the supplied power adapter, point your tablet, smartphone or wireles device connected to your wi-fi router to the web setup address and then scan for your home network to extend. Once connected to your home network wi-fi router you can simply clone your router's 2.4gHz and 5.0gHz bands. You then have the ability to set some options like SSID, passwords, guest accounts are amount the many. While the price may be a bit high for an extender it's feature rich and does a great job of getting your wi-fi coverage a full bars through the entire house. Well worth the money if you have a lot of wi-fi connected devices and a large area to cover.

The extender is a nice size and blends in nicely if you have dark wood or black furniture. The setup was quick and the instructions were easy to follow. We have had intermittent low signal in a couple areas of the house, namely the deck and the garage. After placing the extender in a corner of the house that abuts the wall of the garage and the outer wall by the deck, our signal was a solid 5 bars.

So I've been using this for about 4 days now and have to say that it delivers in terms of extending one's wifi coverage. Setup was a little sticky as others have pointed out, but once those hurdles were jumped, we were able to tell a noticeable difference in the speed of our wifi in the middle to far ends of our house (in relation to where our router is placed). I don't have any way to objectively measure this but we all feel that the wifi speed has improved dramatically with the addtion of this range extender. I would recommend this without hesitation.

Solid Signal - Tough to Start

Good news, it has a good solid Wi-Fi signal which has remained stable. When I started to setup the unit the first time I was feeling ecstatic that it appeared the setup was going smoothly and tremendously easy. After that first few minutes of delight at how the setup appeared to be going smoothly I hit a wall. Have worked through Windows 10 and Android following seemingly simple easy setup procedures. For me it was a bugger to get going. Once it was up and running it does a good job, as advertised. Will not lay the difficulty of the setup in my experience at the feet of the box, as it good very well be connecting the extender to my network is a challenge for the extender. My network is extensive sporting two subnets along with a MESH system. Other Good News, they have a good technical support staff, who are patient and quite helpful. That today is very good news. The instructions and software interface need work, seriously. When they marry that with the box it will be a good performer.

As a few others have said, the initial setup didnt work as shown in the instructions, but once I connected it directly, with a network cable to my computer, setup was a breeze; it really does extend your wifi signal to every corner of your house, giving me full signal in my crawl space, my basement, and every where else I extended my network to. If you need more range, this should do the trick for you!

Getting the device set up is a challenge. Simultaneously, I attempted setting up on a Win10 device and an Android device. Both devices quickly showed the Extender's network name in the list of available wifi sources. Soon thereafter, the name disappeared. I rebooted the Extender, but the network name would not come up. Also, when I tried the setup URL shown in the instructions on the Win10 device, it took me to a Bing search page. Next, I tried using the IP address provided in the instructions as an alternate, I received a message that the site couldn't be reached. After all this frustration, I gave it a rest and called Amped tech support. I spoke with a nice young man who asked me if a certain wireless ID (my network ID + RE) showed in my list of availables, and it did. He had me try several online sites to ensure it was working, and it was. So, do not rely on the printed instructions for troubleshooting. Check to see if your network ID+RE is listed. If so, you are good to go. As to the device itself, it does extend reception range. Throughout my house, no problem Then, I tested by walking out the edge of my backyard, with positive results. Without the Extender, my device showed connected but no internet. With the Extender, I had internet. Rarely would I expect to use the internet out there, but it is good to know I could. Were it possible, I would rate the device 4.5, taking the other .5 off for setup.

I have always had issues with wi-fi connections and/or speed in the back room of my home. After figuring out the set-up of this extender, I can say that my connection issues are now a thing of the past in my back room! AND in my Garage, AND outside in my yard AND even in my neighbors yards! Awesome! Everyone obviously will love it when they can walk to areas far from the source without worry of disconnections. - The next thing I'll try is to see how far I can walk into the neighborhood before I lose my network. (not necessary to go that far) but the distance I already receive with it is already a major +++++ for me.

I have never had a repeater/expander work as well as this one. It sets up a 5ghz band dedicated to communication with your current router and then sends out its own 5ghz and a 2.4 ghz band of its own. Its three antennas and 12 repeaters ensure its putting out an equally as good signal as the router is. It looks like an antenna router itself and expands the coverage of your wifi to a potential 12,000 foot area that for most will include at least the immediate area outside. (Yard, porches and driveway). Of course exact coverage limits will be more restricted by obstructions than this repeater or your router.
