Awesome game for everyone
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AC has come a long way with it's graphics, stories, characters, etc!! I love AC New Horizons...the graphics are so much better than all the other AC games. It's even more sweet that it made it's way to the Nintendo Switch. The game is easy to play by any person at any age. It's just a calming game. There's goals, but you go at your own pace. It's a good game when you want to kill some time or shut the world around you off. Plus it came just in time during the stay at home order.

The best quarantine purchase I've made thus far
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To preface, this is my first Animal Crossing game--that is, if you don't count the couple of weeks I spent playing the Pocket Camp mobile game. I've been aware of the series since New Leaf came out, but never really looked into it, so I went into this rather blindly without expectations. For gameplay, its a nice, relaxing time where you can just take it slow and build up your island... Or you could just time travel like an absolute monkey, but what other people do with their islands is none of my business. The soundtrack kinda slaps, especially 5PM. As of writing, the game is still receiving updates and lots of new features have been released to keep the game interesting. There's also a bit of QOL changes that I think the game could really use, but we'll just have to wait and see. The online play is nice but not required, so that's a plus if you don't have the subscription. Probably the biggest issue--albeit not for myself--is that you can only have one island per switch. If you have multiple people in the same household who want to make their own islands, that means you gotta shell out the cash and get some more switches. Surprise, you didn't know and now you're tempted to fall into the trap of buying more switches!! The switch lite was made for this scheme and Nintendo knows it. Also the same-system co-op is garbage. You can look these up for yourself for more info. Drawbacks aside, it's still a pretty great game--moreso if you plan to play solo. I still play the game with my sister though. We just take turns on our respective profiles and slowly build up our island. If you can figure out a system should you decide to just have everyone play on the one island, then you should be fine. All in all, even taking into consideration what I've criticized, I'd still consider this game to be 5 stars.

Addicting game with some UX issues
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly, I am writing this review for the 25 My Best Buy points. I figured the least I could do is punch out a few words on the ol' keyboard for my reward. AC:NH is an addicting game of repetitive tasks and customizing your island. After a couple of weeks of play, I do not think it stands out in any particular way in comparison to other "builder" games. It had the benefit of timing. While many people are under quarantine due to COVID-19, it became something wildly popular to pass the time. The game is solid for what it set out to do. The biggest problems are repetitive conversations with characters, such as talking to Blathers, the Museum curator. Donating fossils and other critters should not require going through a long conversation each time, continually hitting the B button to speed through it. It should be simplified. Much of the game suffers from this same UX issue. I would give it a solid 3 stars. But, thus far, it has been addicting enough to garner an extra star.

Simple, but so much fun!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is definitely aimed at a younger audience, and my kids love this game. I must admit, I’m liking it quite a bit too! There’s a slight learning curve, as the game doesn’t give you too much info out the gate, but it’s not complicated and worn take long to get the hang of it. There’s so much to do, explore, and see. The local multiplayer could be a little better, but for what it is, it works just fine (just have to get used to taking turns as the “leader”).

Nice, relaxing, and long-term
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Animal Crossing is the kind of game that you can pick up and play anytime you want. It's the kind of game that you can dive into, play for a few minutes, or even for a few hours if you want to. A great game to play with friends whether locally or online, and with the promise of more content on the way, it's overall a great, relaxing, chill game to just explore through and have some fun with. Definitely better than the one that came on the Wii U.

Quarantine Crossing!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A lot of fun, great game for all ages (kids to adults). Allows everyone to explore their creativity. We have family across states and countries who also have copies of this game, used the virtual world to have a family get together. Even took a family photo in the game. A really relevant game for the current times we are in. For anyone who enjoys a slower paced game focused on building community, structures, completing tasks, etc. This is a great value

Simple & cute, but surprisingly deep
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On the surface, this is a very casual, simple game: care for a private island, make animal friends, and decorate to your heart’s content. However, the sheer volume of content combined with the slow-paced, relaxing tone of the game makes this entertaining for a very long time, and people who dig into the secrets and advanced mechanics will find more on offer. The game is absolutely better with friends, but can be enjoyed fully as a single-player experience.

Amazing game!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Animal Crossing: New Horizons is so fun! I have only played Animal Crossing on Gameube as a kid, and kept putting off buying this title after I bought my switch. However, my partner and I started playing and we love this game! This game is a Switch console seller. If you are planning on playing this game with your partner, more on that below... Three things... One: Please be aware that you can only have ONE island per Switch console. Two: Only the Switch profile that created the island can make decisions for that island. A second player playing on a different profile cannot build any buildings on the island or further the "storyline" of the island. Three: My partner officially claimed our household Switch, and I found myself without a console and bought a new one to create my own island. Now.... you can share a single profile, but if you're looking for analytics for how long you yourself have played the game. And you want to have your own island. (Like myself) Then sharing a profile won't be for you.

Back to the Island Life — Animal Crossing Still Hi
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decided to revisit Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Switch 2 and hey… it’s still such a vibe. Even after all this time, it feels fresh and relaxing. If you’ve been thinking of jumping back in, or visiting first time, do it. Totally worth it.

ANIMAL CROSSING
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the long awaited entry in the Animal Crossing series. If you are familiar with the games, the additions and crafting will be a refreshment to game play. This game is simple to start and hard to put down. New players will have a wonderful time learning how to become friends with their new animal neighbors and the rest and relaxation of fishing and hunting bugs(among other activities). Definitely pick this up if you have a Switch!

A Great Addition to the Series
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Animal Crossing is a great game that came out at the perfect time - amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. A cute, classic series that I played with my sister and friends growing up and hold many great memories with. For both new fans of the series and old, New Horizons is a great addition to the Animal Crossing series that retains the cute playfulness of the series as well as many objectives, goals, creative outlets and more. Plus, there's the option to connect with your friends and family - something integral for many at the beginning of the pandemic, and still equally important today. It's a nice break from the world and an escape off into your own, living peaceful island full of plenty of friends, old and new.

Excellent addition to the Animal Crossing lineup
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a beautiful and relaxing game you can play for hours on end. The devs appear to be slowly adding a bunch more content and patches with each major real life event such as holidays or seasons. Given that this game is meant to be played in real time, all players can experience certain things at the same time which is kinda neat. Yeah it has some clunky mechanics and UI but I think the pros heavily out weigh the cons.
