The newest Animal Crossing lives up to the series standards of throwing you in a new world and letting you build it as you see fit. The game is beyond cute on a new level so much it will draw your significant other to it even if they are not gamers. The one glaringly bad decision they made was to make the first person on the island be the end all, say all. If the story is to progress they have to log in and progress it. There is no reason for this and you can tell Nintendo did this simply to sell more consoles because yes, people get so addicted to this game you will run out and buy another Switch so your family can play. I personally was able to avoid this situation just barely but I really wish they would at least tell you when creating your island that this character would be the president because I would've made my wife the leader so she doesn't yell at me to log-in everyday to see what Nook wants us to do next..... Other than this small complaint, the game is great and really helped ease this crazy 2020 we're going through right now.

Great Relaxing Game That Anyone Can Enjoy!!!

This game is great for those times when you just want to relax but also feel like gaming at the same time. There is always something to do, but no sense of urgency to get it done. Collect shells, bugs, sea creatures, fish, dig for fossils and treasure, design your home the way you want it, unlock more design and (eventually) customization options -- all in as little or as much time as you want to put into it. I haven't tried out the online multiplayer yet, but from what I hear it's a lot of fun! There are no boundaries concerning which demographic this game can be enjoyed by. I'm a 36 year old straight male and enjoy it just as much as my 10 year old son and my roommates 6 year old son, and from what I've read online it is being played by people of all ages, genders, orientations and ethnicities, even as old as this 90-something year old grandmother who clocked something like 15000 hours into AC:New Leaf!

I absolutely recommend getting this game if you are looking for a new type of fun, relaxed, at your own pace type of game!!!!!! PROS: * Graphics and animations look so adorable yet very crisp! * Tons of hours of game play * Can be played by adults as well as kids * Very cute game * Lots of fun things to do * Very good game play mechanics * Really beautiful calming music that reminds me of Final Fantasy X-2 * You can learn about bugs and fish that exist even in the real world. CONS: * Sometimes you run out of things to do until you trigger the next event (which takes real world time to wait) * The Bunny Day event is annoying and there's no way to opt out of participation which ends with you wasting your crafted tools on eggs that you don't want. * Non-playable characters talk too much even when you press B to make the conversations go faster, it's still annoying (especially when talking to Tom Nook or one of his children, they talk too much while all you're trying to do is get to the menu. * Even the in-game ATM talks too much

As a long-time fan of the Animal Crossing series, I was eagerly anticipating "New Horizons," and I'm happy to report that it has exceeded all my expectations! This game is a beautiful blend of creativity, relaxation, and fun, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Graphics and Gameplay: The visuals in "New Horizons" are absolutely stunning. The attention to detail in the vibrant landscapes, dynamic weather changes, and adorable character designs is remarkable. The island setting provides a refreshing backdrop, and the ability to terraform and customize my island offers endless creative possibilities. Community and Interaction: What really sets this game apart is its sense of community. Visiting friends' islands and sharing experiences adds a delightful social aspect. The charming interactions with the in-game characters bring a smile to my face, and the seasonal events keep the gameplay fresh and engaging. Relaxing and Therapeutic: In these times, having a relaxing outlet is invaluable, and "New Horizons" offers just that. Whether I'm fishing, bug catching, or simply decorating my island, there's a therapeutic and calming quality to the gameplay that's hard to find elsewhere. Perfect for All Ages: This game is suitable for players of all ages, making it a fantastic choice for family gaming. Its easy-to-understand mechanics and non-stressful environment make it accessible to both young gamers and those new to video games. Conclusion: "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" is more than just a game; it's a heartwarming experience that brings joy and creativity to everyday life. It's a must-have for any Nintendo Switch owner looking for a charming, engaging, and relaxing adventure. Highly recommend!

    The Cutest Debt Simulator Ever

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is basically a game where you move to a deserted island… and immediately get scammed by a raccoon in a sweater vest named Tom Nook. He gives you a tent, a smile, and a loan bigger than my car payment. The gameplay? Shake trees, catch fish, plant flowers, and apparently work full-time as an interior designer for animals who constantly judge your outfits. Pro tip: don’t shake too many trees unless you enjoy being jumped by wasps like it’s a gang initiation. Also, the fishing system is rigged. You’ll either catch an ancient rare shark worth half your mortgage, or yet another sea bass—because clearly the ocean only breeds one fish. Despite all that, it’s the most relaxing game I’ve ever played. I log on to “just play for 10 minutes,” and suddenly it’s 3AM, my house has a second floor, and I owe Tom Nook my firstborn. 10/10—would get stung by wasps again.

I’ve been a fan of the Animal Crossing series since New Leaf was released years ago. When I heard the new game was coming out, on my birthday no less, my hopes were pretty high. Especially now with COVID-19 still keeping everyone inside to stop the curve (very important) I was running out of things to do. My birthday arrived, I got up early and braved the outside world, got to my local Best Buy and was first in the doors to pick up Animal Crossing New Horizons, got home as quick as I could, and literally played for 12 hours straight. This game is absolutely incredible. From all the little features, to it’s gorgeous graphics, to the nostalgia of all the returning Animal Crossing features, and the new ones as well. The amount of creative freedom you get in this game blew me away. This game is literally the only thing that saved my birthday this year. It’s incredible and I highly recommend it to everyone, especially people who are just getting interested in the Animal Crossing series.

There is high replay value in this game, its fun for all ages and I've actually beat the time of play by 120 hours longer totaling over 200 ours than I did Zelda BOTW which launched March 3, 2017 in less than 1 month of playing animal crossings. I currently sit over 200 hours. This is in part due to the ease of the game, Zelda had me researching what to do next hindering me from fully enjoying the game. A few google hits on animal crossing are all you need to keep things going. Developers nailed it with this game, I have bought 3 copies and recently an additional switch for the wife so the whole family has there own island and can play all at once without waving the controller to "switch leaders". That's the only downside, everyone wants to be leader and can be boring for the other person as they follow the leader. Check out other sites for full details on this feature. Otherwise great game other review sites can give you more in depth details.

I bought Animal Crossing New Leaf from Best Buy for my Nintendo 3DS three years ago. It was an okay game, but I didn't absolutely love it. Anyway, I decided to get Animal Crossing New Horizons for my Switch because of quarantine, after hearing how great it was. I assumed it would be similar to New Leaf, so I wasn't expecting too much, just better graphics. Anyway I literally started playing the game last night and I'm OBSESSED! It's a million times better than New Leaf! The pastel colors and simplicity is amazing. New Leaf felt clunky, New Horizons on the other hand is very much smooth, seemless, and beautiful. I've never fallen in love with a game after only playing it for two days, but New Horizons changed that! My only regret is not getting this game earlier! Will be a great summer vacation game.

Be aware, this is not a normal simulator like Stardew Valley. It’s based on real time (including seasons) so some progress is time gated. Also, you are limited to one island per console. Everyone shares that island, but only the person who created it can advance the island (aka infrastructure). If one person plays primarily and others more casually, you won’t notice. But if you have two players who play a fair amount, communication is key. Disclaimers aside, the game is excellent. It’s very relaxed, which is great for our current situation. And it’s a great game to let me 4 year old play, and she is just learning how to properly use a controller. Of course she just wants to walk around and talk to your neighbors. And because of the aforementioned island system, she’s able to created her own character, and we can play together. It’s easy to find info about the gameplay, but those are some things I think people might find helpful knowing.

I really mean what the title says. This latest Animal Crossing adds so much to the franchise we already love. Larger inventory (some items even stack!), ability to customize the terrain of your island, placing items outside, better character customization tools, new way to move fully grown trees...just so many innovations and improvements. I'm a grown man, and I love this game. It's great for unwinding for an hour or two. People who need a lot of action will probably find it a bit boring, but if you're someone that likes a casual-paced, sandbox sort of experience, this is great. As of this review, I have not seen any microtransactions within the game, so I'm not entirely sure what the "in-game purchases" entry in the ESRB rating is referring to. I haven't had to pay any real world dollars for anything. My best guess is that it's referring to the requirement of a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for the multiplayer features.

A Fantastic Improvement in the Series

This was a highly anticipated game for me and that hype did not disappoint! This island escape is the perfect thing for you when you are feeling like you need to escape the world for a while. The storage system is improved by adding more slots along with a nifty key holder that contains all your tools in one place so you don't have to go searching for them in your inventory. The game looks beautiful and is insanely addicting to play. I have been playing for only a week, but this game has me absolutely hooked! Older characters from previous series are back for more fun and item exchanges! The newer characters revitalize the series and gives the game a splash of new personality! The progression through the game is fun and rewarding. Each thing you do unlocks the next item to progress through the different stages of your island. It is incredibly fun and I recommend this game to anyone who wishes to have a relaxing gaming experience!

With the inevitable shipping delays because of the global pandemic, I actually wasn't sure if I'd get the physical version of this game. I'm extremely grateful to USPS for getting the physical copy of Animal Crossing New Horizons to me despite all of the difficulties in doing deliveries at this time. Shipping aside, in terms of the actual game itself, I had a feeling I'd enjoy it because I've been playing Pocket Camp (the mobile app Animal Crossing game) for quite some time now. I will say though I did worry a little about whether I'd get bored of the game quickly. However, this game is the perfect thing to play during this time of social distancing and quarantine. I've had lots of fun visiting my friends' islands and hosting friends on my island as well. Not to mention the fishing, bug catching, and customization that you have the capacity to engage with.

What can I say about this game that hasn't been said already? This game is way better than it's predecessor, New Leaf for the DS. It has better graphics, more upgrades, more customization, crafting, more items, and just more potential to interact with the Animal Crossing community. This is my most played game on my switch (or any other console!)...and I play Skyrim and the Witcher 3 quite often. This game saved this year for me...most people will be remembering 2020 as the year COVID ruined peoples lives, but I will choose to remember it as the year that Animal Crossing helped me escape COVID-19 by relocating to a deserted island getaway where I could interact with my villagers and friends (Nintendo Online) without the fear of the pandemic. Thank you, Nintendo. Please make more Animal Crossing games!

"How to even begin reviewing Animal Crossing: New Horizons? This game has brought me so much joy and comfort. I have loved every second of the 600+ hours I have sunk into it. This was my first ever Animal Crossing game, but I have since gone back to play New Leaf, but I keep returning to New Horizons. I love the little island that I have built for myself, I love the animals who have come to live on my island and come to be my friends. Who is this game for? Everyone. Literally everyone. There are so many ways to play. Build amazing islands that test the bounds of what you can do, or just relax, fish, catch bugs (and even farm now!) It's impossible to be disappointed with this game!"

If you have never played Animal Crossing, you have truly missed out on an amazing experience. As an adult, I sincerely enjoy this game, but when playing with my children, I absolutely love it. We have spent countless hours under a big blanket on the couch together traversing the ever-expanding world of Animal Crossing. Buy this game and give the gift of laughter and joy to your entire family.
