She has played this game more than I have ever seen her play anything else. Everything about this game is charming, and relaxing food for the soul. Its basically a giant bowl of chicken soup on a frosty cold day. Its extremely easy to get into and start managing your little island, and you can climb out of extreme debt and poverty by catching butterflies and fish. And in a year like 2020 has been, maybe catching bugs and planting flowers with a raccoon and rhino is just what we need.

    New world of Animal Crossing!

As a long-time fan of Animal Crossing, Nintendo adds such a fresh new experience with this one! For one, I like the quality of the graphics and animation (I think most of us can agree on this one, am I right?) And new stuff like the crafting, new tools, new plants, the character creator, choosing the layout of your island; are all nice new additions to this series. After playing New Leaf for so long, I was especially craving paths and more space for designs, but also just more to do. This couldn't have arrived at a more perfect time, because it is like a therapy. It's relaxing and cheerful for the most part (until you catch a sea bass for the millionth time, faint from a tarantula or get stung by wasps. Lol!) As always, the fishing, capturing bugs and digging for fossils have always been a satisfying experience. Especially giving them to Blathers, as he always has such interesting commentary on each donation. I was blown away by the upgrade on the museum, I won't spoil it for you but it is a VERY nice upgrade! Of course, there are some down sides. They are just some slight nit-picks about New Horizons, it's nothing major that makes or breaks the game, really. Just some things they haven't added like in past games, that I feel like I thought they would have added, such as... - No changing town tune (the music that changes every hour of the day) - No Gyroids Again, these negatives don't completely ruin the experience for me, but I'm not gonna lie... I miss the changing town music most of all. The same music gets a bit old for me after a while. Not that the music is bad, but after a while I just mute my sound since I play it for a while. I got the drawstring Bell Bag the game and that was an added bonus. Definitely worth paying $5 extra! The bag is very soft and super cute! I honestly couldn't wait to put my "bells" in it and just shake it for the fun of it. Lol! I may add some actual jingle bells too. Shipping was on time! I was surprised, because I thought it wouldn't come on time due to the whole COVID-19 thing, but if it was a little late, I understand though. But I'm thankful. Thank you, Best Buy!

The Best “Escape Game” for the Pandemic?

The exact thing I needed, for the start of the pandemic... and still need months and months later It’s cute, check. It’s way to pick up and play, check. But also, if you’re feeling a little out of control in 2020 in “this world” it allows you to “check out” and “check into” and take care of the things that you can control in your “island world” where hopefully you don’t have as many cares to bog you down... except for all those bells you’ll forever be owing Tom Nook!

So I’ve always been an Animal Crossing fan, and like many others, I was ECSTATIC when I found out about New Horizons. I preordered it as soon as the preorder dropped, and I’ve played it nonstop. The game allows free reign over making the island look like what you want it to look like. Every day in this game allows new opportunities to complete tasks. The Nook Miles addition was very smart and allows the player to have fun without ever feeling like they’re just repeating the same things every day.

Animal Crossing was never considered a fast pace game. This is a game that you go by your pace and take us much time as you need. Customization is the name of the game, there are so many items to interact with that you will spend most of your time trying to decide what to choose. From your house to your shoes this game allows you to make your own unique world that reflects your likes. I go back to it from time to time because there is always something else that I want to accomplish.

I’ve played every Animal Crossing Game, and each time I think “Wow, this couldn’t be more perfect!” And then the next one blows the last one out of the water! I always thought nothing could top New Leaf, but the added Terraforming tool is absolutely amazing! The amount you can customize in this game should keep you busy for ages (even the time traveling folk will enjoy this game for a long time!) The villagers are so precious, all the interactions are memorable. So many possibilities!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons game for the Nintendo switch is the most laid back ever! Lots of customization for the island and home and much improved from previous versions for this reason you’ll be coming back everyday to play. Good way to relax and pass up time during social distancing season. Good luck finding the Nintendo switch console but I’m glad I got one from Best Buy luckily!

The best quarantine purchase I've made thus far

To preface, this is my first Animal Crossing game--that is, if you don't count the couple of weeks I spent playing the Pocket Camp mobile game. I've been aware of the series since New Leaf came out, but never really looked into it, so I went into this rather blindly without expectations. For gameplay, its a nice, relaxing time where you can just take it slow and build up your island... Or you could just time travel like an absolute monkey, but what other people do with their islands is none of my business. The soundtrack kinda slaps, especially 5PM. As of writing, the game is still receiving updates and lots of new features have been released to keep the game interesting. There's also a bit of QOL changes that I think the game could really use, but we'll just have to wait and see. The online play is nice but not required, so that's a plus if you don't have the subscription. Probably the biggest issue--albeit not for myself--is that you can only have one island per switch. If you have multiple people in the same household who want to make their own islands, that means you gotta shell out the cash and get some more switches. Surprise, you didn't know and now you're tempted to fall into the trap of buying more switches!! The switch lite was made for this scheme and Nintendo knows it. Also the same-system co-op is garbage. You can look these up for yourself for more info. Drawbacks aside, it's still a pretty great game--moreso if you plan to play solo. I still play the game with my sister though. We just take turns on our respective profiles and slowly build up our island. If you can figure out a system should you decide to just have everyone play on the one island, then you should be fine. All in all, even taking into consideration what I've criticized, I'd still consider this game to be 5 stars.

AC has come a long way with it's graphics, stories, characters, etc!! I love AC New Horizons...the graphics are so much better than all the other AC games. It's even more sweet that it made it's way to the Nintendo Switch. The game is easy to play by any person at any age. It's just a calming game. There's goals, but you go at your own pace. It's a good game when you want to kill some time or shut the world around you off. Plus it came just in time during the stay at home order.

Addicting game with some UX issues

Honestly, I am writing this review for the 25 My Best Buy points. I figured the least I could do is punch out a few words on the ol' keyboard for my reward. AC:NH is an addicting game of repetitive tasks and customizing your island. After a couple of weeks of play, I do not think it stands out in any particular way in comparison to other "builder" games. It had the benefit of timing. While many people are under quarantine due to COVID-19, it became something wildly popular to pass the time. The game is solid for what it set out to do. The biggest problems are repetitive conversations with characters, such as talking to Blathers, the Museum curator. Donating fossils and other critters should not require going through a long conversation each time, continually hitting the B button to speed through it. It should be simplified. Much of the game suffers from this same UX issue. I would give it a solid 3 stars. But, thus far, it has been addicting enough to garner an extra star.

These are my son and wife's words, it was a gift. The game itself is fun and enjoyable. Online play allows friends from around the country to join and play together. The landscape reflects the actual season where you live (everything in the game is covered in snow right now). The aquarium is "most tranquil." Gameplay is smooth and graphics are sharp and clear. My son plays for hours. He recommends it if you like these types of games.

Animal Crossing:NH is basically like every other animal crossing. This is not a bad thing. You'll spend your time fishing, catching bugs, planting flowers, and decorating your home. The improvements in this edition (besides being the first core AC game in high definition) include the ability to place decorations anywhere on your island (not just in your home), more control over the look of your island, and a simple but fun crafting system. If you like AC, your like AC:NH.

Let me start by saying I played almost every animal crossing previously released, and so far after about 50 days of play time this animal crossing is the best one yet! So much to do and see and doing on the switch is nice because of the graphics. I recommend to any animal crossing fan or anyone looking to lose themselves in a game. So much is going on in this game hard to explain in a small product review. I suggest watching a video review too. Overall I'd give 5 stars!

We bought a total of 3 and everyone played them for hours at first and we still play regularly. It's fun to set up your island and my kids learn about interest and playing the "stalk" market with turnips. Very basic concepts of them but it lays ground work. There are fun events and special items plus with so much available, no two islands look alike. We visit each other's islands and trade and they play with their friends too.
