My daughter was super happy to get this game. She said her friends had it. She started it and liked the gameplay so far. It’s a little slow at the beginning, but I’m sure she’ll enjoy it the further she gets it. It seems like a great game for kids of all ages.

Great introduction to a wonderful series

This is my first Animal Crossing game, though I've known about the series and watched others play it since the beginning. Charming music, beautiful environments, and colorful characters, along with nearly endless possibilities for player and island customization make for a great experience whilst in quarantine. Just like in real life, I've got neighbors I love and hate, though unlike real life, it's apparently considered socially acceptable to bean one you dislike over the head with a bug-catching net. The hunt for the perfect neighbors is thrilling, and I've surprised myself by getting attached to characters I thought I would initially discard in order to make room for my top ten. Though the endgame is technically sprucing up your island enough to get the much beloved musician K.K. Slider to come to your island for a show, with how many hours you'll likely put in after the fact, it seems like all the events before then act as only an extended prologue. There's things to craft, events to play through, new characters to discover and greet, outfits and furniture to buy (not to mention the pricey home upgrades to store all these new things in), and, most importantly, a full island to customize to absolute perfection. The main negatives I would have to add would be that the slow menu and item selection system unchanged from past games can bog down game play, as can the tedious process of shopping, when most things can't be bought more than one at a time. When catching bugs or fish, the exact same unskippable animation and flavor text appear, making catching multiple a headache of impatiently mashing buttons to get on with it. I wish that it had been set up more like what happens when you pick up things like wood or fruit, where the game doesn't delay with with an unnecessary animation or description, it just lets you /pick it up/ and be done with it. Otherwise, if you're not big on slow, day-by-day gameplay, or you want something focused on hard action and conflict, this game probably won't be for you. Even though you can effectively blaze through the game by changing dates and times, the greatest sources of conflict you'll find yourself having is buying new things vs paying back loans, and trying your hardest to get that one stubborn neighbor you hate to move out. All and all, it's a family-friendly game with an easygoing playstyle, sure to have enough to do to keep anyone entertained for hundreds of hours.

The game is awesome if you like to play slow, single player rpg games. Games close to this would be terarria, minecraft, stardew valley. When it comes to multiplayer, the game is ok. There isint any much more to do with others than playing by yourself, and you're extremely limited in the interactions you get to have in other people's islands. Most you can do really is sell things in others' island, which is something you can already do on your own. There's an option to remove the restriction on people so they have full access to your island (to break rocks, chop trees down, etc) but again, theres not much point or incentive to that unless it's to help a new player accelerate the process of doing everything by themselves. Otherwise the game is great, charming, and as long as you have the time for it, it's great seeing your island grow, as well as visiting new, randomly generated islands to explore and find new specimens of bugs and fish to catch.

I’ve never played the old animal crossing games but I can understand why it’s so loved! The game is absolutely adorable and very fun. It’s simple however the attention to detail is amazing. Wouldn’t be good for younger kids since there is a lot of reading so keep that in mind!

I could write a novel about this game, but I'll keep it short and sweet! As an Animal Crossing series lover, I was so excited to hear about the release of AC: New Horizons early this spring. The game is beautiful. The animation, the game mechanics such as crafting DIY recipes, creating clothing and island/town designs, customization, and literally every little detail make this game a true work of art. If you're reading this review, this is your sign to purchase this game!! ACNH is such a wholesome, relaxing, and therapeutic experience for all players. I highly recommend this game and the Nintendo Switch Online membership in order to access amazing online services and to view the gorgeous work from users all over the world. ACNH is my little escape from the stresses of daily life, and I could not ask for a better gaming experience. Nintendo truly hit it out of the park with this game. Thank you Best Buy!

This is my first Aninal Crossing game and when I bought it I honestly thought that I wouldn't like it. I was wrong. The game is just simple fun and easy to get into. It's slow at first but starts to pick up after a few days. A good way to spend time while everyone is at home

I really mean what the title says. This latest Animal Crossing adds so much to the franchise we already love. Larger inventory (some items even stack!), ability to customize the terrain of your island, placing items outside, better character customization tools, new way to move fully grown trees...just so many innovations and improvements. I'm a grown man, and I love this game. It's great for unwinding for an hour or two. People who need a lot of action will probably find it a bit boring, but if you're someone that likes a casual-paced, sandbox sort of experience, this is great. As of this review, I have not seen any microtransactions within the game, so I'm not entirely sure what the "in-game purchases" entry in the ESRB rating is referring to. I haven't had to pay any real world dollars for anything. My best guess is that it's referring to the requirement of a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for the multiplayer features.

Great game for home quarantine/telecommuting. All the classic AC things and then some. I thought I'd be on a deserted island but others came including the raccoons to rob me blind and think I'm building a place for more to come. There's no social distancing on the island.

A Fantastic Improvement in the Series

This was a highly anticipated game for me and that hype did not disappoint! This island escape is the perfect thing for you when you are feeling like you need to escape the world for a while. The storage system is improved by adding more slots along with a nifty key holder that contains all your tools in one place so you don't have to go searching for them in your inventory. The game looks beautiful and is insanely addicting to play. I have been playing for only a week, but this game has me absolutely hooked! Older characters from previous series are back for more fun and item exchanges! The newer characters revitalize the series and gives the game a splash of new personality! The progression through the game is fun and rewarding. Each thing you do unlocks the next item to progress through the different stages of your island. It is incredibly fun and I recommend this game to anyone who wishes to have a relaxing gaming experience!

    Way better than New Leaf!

I bought Animal Crossing New Leaf from Best Buy for my Nintendo 3DS three years ago. It was an okay game, but I didn't absolutely love it. Anyway, I decided to get Animal Crossing New Horizons for my Switch because of quarantine, after hearing how great it was. I assumed it would be similar to New Leaf, so I wasn't expecting too much, just better graphics. Anyway I literally started playing the game last night and I'm OBSESSED! It's a million times better than New Leaf! The pastel colors and simplicity is amazing. New Leaf felt clunky, New Horizons on the other hand is very much smooth, seemless, and beautiful. I've never fallen in love with a game after only playing it for two days, but New Horizons changed that! My only regret is not getting this game earlier! Will be a great summer vacation game.

One of my favorite games for the Switch. Just when you want something to help you unwind for the day. I kinda reminds me of Stardew Valley a bit except you aren't farming, it's more of a collecting/harvesting/fishing/bug hunting and fossil digging. You can plant flowers and trees but that's about it on the farming stuff. This game also has multiplayer to help each other out, you can play online with friends or couch co-op with family or friends on the same system on your TV. The only downside is multiple users playing this game on the same (One) Nintendo Switch will be using/sharing the same island; each user does not get their own island,it's weird they did this, and some people don't like this, but my wife and I have separate Nintendo Switches so that doesn't affect for us. Overall we both love playing this game, I may have to get a second copy now so we both can play together.

This version of animal crossing is completely awesome. So much to do and nothing is handed to you. Lots of grinding to do to get your city looking awesome. The Nook Miles system and phone app system give the game a modern day pace. Wife and I play every chance we get.
