WARNING - Only one person can play per console

The game is wonderful but if you have multiple people per console only one person can play the full game. Unfortunately in the game the first person to play is the only account that can access the story of the game and dozens of features and DIY recipes are only available to the first player. Be warned this isn't one per game, this is one per console. Tragically this means there is only one possible story per console and only one player per console has access to the majority of the game. The rest of the game is really really nice, especially now that we're stuck at home, but because there are two of us and only one console, we're stuck with one player playing the game and the other person basically watching the story from afar, unable to participate. The single player is so good. The local multiplayer WITH ONLY ONE PERSON WHO CAN PLAY PER CONSOLE is really really frustrating.

if you want to run your own island and you have more than one person wanting to play then you will need a second system and a second copy of the game to do so. Whoever starts the island runs everything, anyone else who joins after is essentially an NPC in the game that you can control and make some basic stuff.

Nintendo has once again released a game with missing features. The online functionality is grossly missing and the company locks users to one island per system, trying to force consumers to buy 300 dollar systems to play as a family. Greedy company

Definitely not a game for me, relying on real time to advance things sucks. Text also takes forever and the whole thing just feels a little slow. Oh well, glad I tried!

Make sure only one person wants to ever play this game. One member of our family started an island on Animal Crossing New Horizons. Later, when another family member wanted to start their own journey on this game, the only option was to join the island started by the first person who played the game. The island isn't that big to begin with. After google searching, it sees like it is impossible to have more than one island per Switch system. Sooo disappointed! Game play is fun for one.

This game is not young child friendly and they lost interest quickly due to not being able to read the instructions. I should have looked but at a glance it looks like it is meant for young children. It's a shame the characters don't talk instead of making noises.

The year is 2020 and not 2000. 20 years ago I could understand losing game save data when your memory card broke but in 2020 when your switch breaks there is no online backup to your animal crossing island. My son’s island was lost or at minimum lost for weeks maybe months while his console is repaired. We have another switch and if this was a Sony or Microsoft first party title he would be back up and running in the time it took to redownload the game to my switch. Awful product policies. Do not buy for your kids they will spend time on something that can easily be lost due to Nintendo’s backward approach to data management. On top of everything we pay for the online services that include data back up just not on this title which is arguably Nintendo’s biggest first party title of the year.
