This solved my mid-life gamer crisis
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is honestly something of a wicked experience. I have always played action-adventure rpg games and have been a fan of games that release cyclicly every year that include Pokemon, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Mario, etc. I've been playing games all my life and I kind of got bored playing the same game with the same mechanics all over again with different gimmicks. I'm happy to say that this game has proudly got me back into my long-time favorite hobby and reminded me why I love video games so much. It is so different and unique from everything I've personally played. Now I'm sure there are other games with a similar format, and I was hesitant on trying something new that I would probably end up not playing. From all the unique things you can do and the world/character development, I'm glad I gave this a shot and most of all this game has made me believe that I should keep an open mind and try out new things to play.

Animal Crossing Practically Meditative Experience
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Man, I love this game. As a rule I don't usually give a hoot about video games, I mean I haven't had a console since the eighties, no joke. This, however, is too much fun as most of the planet already knows. It's helped me get through the pandemic, it chills me out when I'm stressed, I am still having fun on it even after having it for months and months. I highly recommend it if you have been one of the rare folks on the fence about it. I genuinely can't stand most games and I absolutely love this one, so if you want something to relax by and have a good time while designing and decorating your space, this is for you. I can even play it with my young kid, who also has a great time on it, and it gives us yet another common interest to bond over. Can't like it enough. Would like to have changing variety of items to redeem with miles, though, but that's beside the point.

It made my birthday
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been a fan of the Animal Crossing series since New Leaf was released years ago. When I heard the new game was coming out, on my birthday no less, my hopes were pretty high. Especially now with COVID-19 still keeping everyone inside to stop the curve (very important) I was running out of things to do. My birthday arrived, I got up early and braved the outside world, got to my local Best Buy and was first in the doors to pick up Animal Crossing New Horizons, got home as quick as I could, and literally played for 12 hours straight. This game is absolutely incredible. From all the little features, to it’s gorgeous graphics, to the nostalgia of all the returning Animal Crossing features, and the new ones as well. The amount of creative freedom you get in this game blew me away. This game is literally the only thing that saved my birthday this year. It’s incredible and I highly recommend it to everyone, especially people who are just getting interested in the Animal Crossing series.

Omg love!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is so peaceful and serene. I have so much fun opening up presents to find some new piece of clothing or furniture! It’s so exciting, even the little stuff. You can play with friends and you can get screwed over by Tom Nook and get tricked into indentured servitude! I love it!

Fun game for the whole family
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Animal Crossing New Horizons appeals to any fans of casual, relaxing gaming. You can spend hours decorating, fishing, bug-catching, or terraforming your island paradise. Play local or online multi-player for even more fun. Please note that you can only have one island on your Switch.

The perfect game for Quarantine

such a cute fun game!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is so fun. It’s adorable. There’s all ways something to do. Are you low on materials? Get a Nook Miles ticket and stock up that way. I’ve been playing this pretty much all day except for when I’m eating of course. A very nice, calming game to play while you’re stuck inside.

Best game ever
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are a lot of things that you can do each day, I play it everyday, as you progress, new things will be “unlocked”. You can decorate and collect whatever you want. I totally recommend, it’s the best “do it at your own pace” game I’ve ever played!

Just what I needed
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A fun relaxing game that's just too cute. I love the new online multiplayer capabilities and being able to use my phone as an auxiliary tool for messaging and importing designs into the game. It is very creative and she can interact with different characters and travel across the Animal Crossing Islands. She loves all the cute woodsy characters and is very happy with the gameplay. New enough for experienced, great for newbies too!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have loved the Animal Crossing games from the beginning, since the Nintendo Gamecube and have played every version except Go to the City for the Wii. This game is great! It has a lot of familiar features, but adds some new ones. It also streamlines some of the old GC components, like the DS versions did (ex: museum donations, selling). It also makes decorating more efficient. One of my favorite features however, is Co-Play. My family and I have always played these games together, but only now can we simultaneous play while living in the same town! This is so fun and I love being able to switch back and forth as leader while playing together. I am really looking forward to logging hundreds of hours on this game. It is easy enough for newbies to get into and also has enough variation from previous games for AC vets to still have fun and enjoy something different. This is a Nintendo masterpiece for sure.

Daughter Loved The Gift
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My daughter was super happy to get this game. She said her friends had it. She started it and liked the gameplay so far. It’s a little slow at the beginning, but I’m sure she’ll enjoy it the further she gets it. It seems like a great game for kids of all ages.

Great introduction to a wonderful series
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Animal Crossing game, though I've known about the series and watched others play it since the beginning. Charming music, beautiful environments, and colorful characters, along with nearly endless possibilities for player and island customization make for a great experience whilst in quarantine. Just like in real life, I've got neighbors I love and hate, though unlike real life, it's apparently considered socially acceptable to bean one you dislike over the head with a bug-catching net. The hunt for the perfect neighbors is thrilling, and I've surprised myself by getting attached to characters I thought I would initially discard in order to make room for my top ten. Though the endgame is technically sprucing up your island enough to get the much beloved musician K.K. Slider to come to your island for a show, with how many hours you'll likely put in after the fact, it seems like all the events before then act as only an extended prologue. There's things to craft, events to play through, new characters to discover and greet, outfits and furniture to buy (not to mention the pricey home upgrades to store all these new things in), and, most importantly, a full island to customize to absolute perfection. The main negatives I would have to add would be that the slow menu and item selection system unchanged from past games can bog down game play, as can the tedious process of shopping, when most things can't be bought more than one at a time. When catching bugs or fish, the exact same unskippable animation and flavor text appear, making catching multiple a headache of impatiently mashing buttons to get on with it. I wish that it had been set up more like what happens when you pick up things like wood or fruit, where the game doesn't delay with with an unnecessary animation or description, it just lets you /pick it up/ and be done with it. Otherwise, if you're not big on slow, day-by-day gameplay, or you want something focused on hard action and conflict, this game probably won't be for you. Even though you can effectively blaze through the game by changing dates and times, the greatest sources of conflict you'll find yourself having is buying new things vs paying back loans, and trying your hardest to get that one stubborn neighbor you hate to move out. All and all, it's a family-friendly game with an easygoing playstyle, sure to have enough to do to keep anyone entertained for hundreds of hours.

A fun, relaxing game for multiple ages
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have bought this game for both of our daughters- aged 15 and 18. Great game solo. Not much to do with others though
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game is awesome if you like to play slow, single player rpg games. Games close to this would be terarria, minecraft, stardew valley. When it comes to multiplayer, the game is ok. There isint any much more to do with others than playing by yourself, and you're extremely limited in the interactions you get to have in other people's islands. Most you can do really is sell things in others' island, which is something you can already do on your own. There's an option to remove the restriction on people so they have full access to your island (to break rocks, chop trees down, etc) but again, theres not much point or incentive to that unless it's to help a new player accelerate the process of doing everything by themselves. Otherwise the game is great, charming, and as long as you have the time for it, it's great seeing your island grow, as well as visiting new, randomly generated islands to explore and find new specimens of bugs and fish to catch.

The cutest!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve never played the old animal crossing games but I can understand why it’s so loved! The game is absolutely adorable and very fun. It’s simple however the attention to detail is amazing. Wouldn’t be good for younger kids since there is a lot of reading so keep that in mind!
