I really love this thing!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never thought about a portable charging/Power device for when your outdoors. Anker is a company I'm not too familiar with, so I wanted to try out one of the products that would come in handy. I'm always on the road going to different places and sometimes hanging out. This definitely would come in handy on a lot of the places I go! I wanted to see how long this will last, so the first thing I did was play my boombox speaker on a little over half volume. When I played it for about an hour, it was still on 95% which I thought was amazing! When I switched it to Energy saving mode during the time it was playing, I really didn't notice much difference in the sound or the base. I really love the little sunlight that's attached to it, the light covers a good portion of the area when turned on and not focused on one little area like those little flashlight on the side off a lot of portable items. I also really appreciate that with such a small device, they try to cover all outlets from other devices that you may use. The only thing I thought was a little weird, was the fact that the generator has a three prong plug, but they didn't put a three prong outlet on this device. I do have a few items with three prong plugs that I would not be able to use on this device. Other than that, this is definitely worth the money, for a small group of people could definitely find useful, who likes going to the beach, the park, or any other outdoor activity. Oh, and after playing my speaker for three hours I was down to 80% power. I also turn the speaker up to full volume and turned on the mega bass.

Great power station/backup power
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great portable power station. Anker has thought of everything with the Solix 522. The variety of charging options, both for it and whatever devices you are powering are great. Out of the box it is around 80% charged. Charging it to full took less than an hour. I first used it on a 4-day vacation to the beach. Instead of plugging into the wall outlet, I used the Anker to charge my phone, watch and a drone. I did this for a couple of days. The day after we returned home, we had a storm and the power went out. My phone battery was low, so I plugged it in to charge it. I also plugged in a table lamp so that we could have normal light during the outage. The power was out for about an hour. After all these uses, the power level shows 78% left. It has 6 outlets to charge everything you need. 2 AC (standard wall outlet), 1 USB-A port, 2 USB-C ports, and 1 DC car port. To charge the Solix 522, you have a few options. You can use AC power from your house, the car outlet, or they have an optional solar panel. I like that it has a power saving mode. When on, it will shut down the port when your device has been fully charged to conserve its battery. The light on the front is bright without being too bright. It's a great feature to have if your power goes out, or for camping. The display not only shows you the battery percentage left, but also power usage and estimated time left on the battery at the current usage level. The 10 year battery life and 5 year warranty are impressive. Overall, this is a great addition and I highly recommend it.

Front panel busted in transit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned this item because the button you press to enable the front outlet was broken in-transit (I picked the power station up from Best Buy, there was a big gash on the front of the box - it must have been damaged in transit to the actual store).

A MUST HAVE in this day and age!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second portable power generator I've gone out to get in the last few months. In this day and age with so much electronics stuff that we depend on and what seems like more and more power outages all the time, I've found that one generator isn't enough. My previous one is going to stay at home and be used when things go out there. THIS Anker SOLIX 522 is going to be my main generator for travel, the beach, and camping because it has the most versatility out of all the generators this size that I've seen and it has Anker's advanced battery tech behind it so I KNOW that it's going to deliver and last a heck of a lot longer than a lot of other makers. I had planned to take with to our beach outing with friends this weekend because it was going to be six adults and three children with all of our electronics and it was going to go well into the night (gotta have S'mores). I was going to bring my 60W solar panels to help keep the SOLIX 522 powered up but Mother Nature had other ideas and we unfortunately got rained out. That being said, I tested her out Friday and the SOLIX 522 is a beauty. Out of the box the 522 had 82% charge and so I plugged it in via the included power brick (and I appreciate Anker putting the plug connection on the back instead of cluttering up the front). It got up to 100% in about 30 minutes which is pretty darn good considering that the last 20% or so of any rechargeable battery is the slowest to fill. The selection of ports on the front is outstanding and the 522 is an upgrade over the previous 521 version in that it has two USB-C ports and one USB-A vs. the opposite on the 521. The car socket will help keep our drinks and food cool in our friends portable chiller. The USB ports will be great for the adults phones and the kids game systems. The AC ports are better than my first portable generator in that you can actually plug in a three prong cord, though you don't get the ground. That previous one could only do two prong plugs. The bump up in capacity from both my very first portable generator and even the one I just got earlier this year is a good from 231Wh to 299Wh. Even with that bump up in capacity, the SOLIX 522 is actually a bit lighter than that recent one. That says something about the quality of the cells in the Anker. Finally, the light bar on the SOLIX 522 is more useful than the flashlights on the both of the other generators I had/have. Flashlights are for when you are moving and if I need to do that I will use an actual flashlight or my phone. The lightbar on the 522 gives a nice glow in the room, tent, campsite that you have it set up in. Is it hugely bright? No, but it gives off enough light to keep people safe around the generator and to not trip on the cords around it. I am hugely impressed by the Anker SOLIX 522 and I think if you are in the market for a small portable battery generator for home or the outdoors, you would be hard pressed to find anything that compares to the quality and capacity of the SOLIX 522.

Small but MIGHTY!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been watching the technology and industry leading brands for a while now, and Anker rebranded to Solix to streamline their product assortments. I have always been a huge fan of Anker products and feel they offer quality items at industry leading pricing. This model specifically was ideal because I needed something ultra portable, not too heavy. Often times I needed another power source for my drones, cellphones, or laptops. Pros: USB port charge rates, allows for faster charging with compatible devices like newer Macbook Pros, DJI drones and USB-C laptops. In addition, the battery chemistry extends the usable life to approx. 10 years under normal usage which is a huge increase in battery cycles over preview battery technology used in portable power devices. Another neat inclusion in a power station at this price point is the ability to recharge from solar panels! The built in light/lamp is surprisingly bright and consumes only 3w so just that powered on will last almost 24 hours. Cons: AC ports are not grounded style (2 prong vs 3 prong) and due to their placement being so close I struggled to plug in two devices that had larger plug ends. I remedied this by first connecting a power strip but that causes you to need addition items and cuts down on the portability. While I mention down below the amount of items you can power with this device, be sure to validate what you expect to run with this unit as the 450w peak rated wattage will only last for seconds before safety circuits get tripped and power cuts out completely. This will not power coffee makers or heaters that pull more wattage than 300w consistently. All other functionality was outstanding, loved the display and how it organized the critical information. Everything Solix claims from output to charge times was spot on! This will for sure become a common item in our adventure gear pile for both every day use and the seldom backup/emergency power solution. I took a chance and tried to power up a HD projector, xbox, and sound bar outside and that combination was too much for this unit. 2 of the 3 worked but combined it tripped the max wattage of the unit. We have a smaller fan we use in our travel trailer or tent that consumes 16w, based on the unit display it will power that fan for 16 hours on the highest setting. My kids actually utilized it as a “science experiment” and tried guessing what the energy consumption and device run time would be with all sorts of devices that needed to be plugged in. I was surprised with how many household and outdoor devices need 300w or less to power on, so that was cool to see how the device responded and calculated battery run time depending on what at the time it had to power. Solix/Anker always stands behind their products and the warranty and customer service are both additional reasons to choose them. Highly recommend this power station.

Useful Power Station, Misleading Description
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been looking into portable power stations off and on for a good bit as power outages tend to be frequent in the New England area, despite living a couple years old apartment. So I was more than willing to jump at the chance to review the Anker SOLIX 522. I will be upfront and say that the name and description of the device is misleading. It says it can recharge itself via solar, but only if you purchase a separate solar panel to plug into the station. For my use case, it'll be utilized indoors during New England winter power outages to keep me from freezing and dying of boredom. It has enough ports and power to keep my small space heater and Wi-Fi router going via the two prong outlets going for a more than sufficient time with Power Saver switched on. Then the (1) USB-A port and (2) is more than enough to run my cat's water fountain running and give my M1 Macbook Pro and iPhone Pro some juice while I'm streaming media to keep sane. It does have and come with the cord to plug into a car charge to charge the power station while doing outdoor activities. I tested it, but really don't do any outdoor things that mean much to really test its capabilities. Do enjoy that there is a front light bar and the display helps with tracking remaining juice in the station and does show live output of power to the devices you have plugged in. Overall, using the Anker SOLIX 552 has been simple and more than capable for my use case and will prove it's worth time and time again. Only real issue is that the name/description of the product is misleading as it could cause people less inclined to purchase this expecting one thing and being upset it doesn't do that one thing in the description.

Camping and rafting trips just got better!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I enjoy going on weekend camping trips and rafting trips with my girlfriend, and usually bring with a couple power bricks to charge our tech stuff on the go. Usually, my speaker and my drone are the first things to die and the only way to charge those are with the car because the power bricks are just not strong enough. Thanks to Anker, I don’t have that problem anymore! The first thing that surprised me was the size. After looking at pictures online and even at the box when it arrived, I thought it was going to be big and a bit unportable, but after unboxing this I was happy to see that it’s the size of a larger portable speaker. I almost wish it even had speakers because it would be a perfect addition for the size. Now for the performance. I brought this with me to a 2-day camping trip, and I brought my drone, camera, speaker, and 2 cellphones, this thing didn’t even break 50% when charging all these. I am hoping that this will stay the same as it’s getting colder and I bring it on colder camping trips. The built quality is great. Anker makes good quality products. I owned plenty of their iPhone gadgets and never been disappointed. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to stop worrying about having enough juice for your devices on weekend camping or rafting trips. Super stoke for future adventures!

Aptly named “power station”
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had small “backup battery” units for years, just to make sure important devices (mostly my cell phone) can be kept charged in crucial situations. The most effective one I have ever used (and still use) is also an Anker, so this power station had Anker’s reputation behind it already. The front panel offers up a single USB-A port, two USB-C ports (one of which can also be used to charge the station), and two 115V AC outlets. Note that only one of the AC outlets can have a ground plug. The station be charged with standard 115V AC power, standard 12V vehicle outlet, USB-C, or “any 11V-28V solar charger with 8mm DC 7909 male connector. I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t a solar panel for charging, as the information I initially received used the words “Power Station with Solar Recharge.” I am especially happy with the ability to charge the unit in my car. We intend to make use of it on camping trips, charging it in the back (“cargo hold”) of my suv on the way out of town. I had an opportunity to charge it a little in my car, and it seemed to do so at a rate comparable to a wall charge at home. I charged the station to 100% at home, then charged two iPhones with it. This brought it down to 93%. I then plugged in a gaming-level laptop (power-sucker that it is) with a near-dead battery and ran it for several hours, installing a major update and watching some videos. After about three or four hours, the station still has 17% in reserve. I then topped off the charge on an iPhone I had been using the whole time, and it still had 13% left. The user manual is rather short, but pretty complete. It answered a question I have about most charging devices that manufacturers never seem to want to tell: yes, you can connect a device (e.g. charge a phone) while recharging the power station. The diagrams on page 5 (“flashlight mode” and “SOS mode”) are reversed in this printing. It’s obvious, so I doubt anyone with any sense would mistake them. Shame on their documentation reviewer, though!

Reliable and Long Lasting
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Anker 522 is a small/medium power supply powered by LiFeP04 batteries. It is similar to many of the other approximately 300Wh power supplies that I have used such as the Bluetti and several generic Chinese power supplies. Each of the them can handle small dc loads such as a tablet and can also handle ac loads up to a continuos 300 watts. They differ somewhat in features such as input types, wireless phone charging, PD 100 ports, peak wattage, etc. However, the feature that sets the 522 apart from the others is the batteries. The Anker 522 uses special LiFeP04 batteries that offer up to 6 times the lifespan of most competitors and is capable of up to 10 years of recharging. Anker also offers a 5 year warranty on the overall product. In actual use, the Anker 522 had no problems charging my tablet or phone several times. The AC port was capable of running relatively light loads. The Anker 522 also has a very useful light and allows solar charging (adapter not provided). I highly recommend the Anker 522 if you are looking for a quality battery power supply. It is made by a trusted name in Anker and performs well for its intended purposes.

Another Great Product from Anker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Portable electric power stations are all over these days, with capacities ranging from a few hundred to tens of thousands of watt-hours. Everyone seems to be introducing their own version, and well-regarded Anker has more than a few models on offer in their SOLIX line. The Anker SOLIX 522 is on the smaller end of things, with just under 300Wh of battery capacity. It's no slouch when it comes to connections, however, with USB-A and USB-C ports and not one but two regular power outlets. Throw in a car charger port, a nice screen and a soft white light bar and you have a little bit of everything in a very portable package. The SOLIX 522 arrived in simple cardboard packaging, with only the unit, wall and car chargers and instructions in the box. It arrived nearly fully-charged, but I topped it off with the included charger anyway. It's a large laptop-style charger (a brick in between two long cords) that's not the most portable, but it is powerful, so charging doesn't take ages. Unlike some other power stations in this price range you can charge the 522 with the DC charger and a USB-C PD charger at the same time, which offers you blazing fast charging speeds when you're in a hurry. I really appreciate that Anker included a car adapter in the box, for charging on the go, and that USB-C PD capabilities mean you can use just about any modern laptop or tablet charger if you don't have Anker's included chargers on hand. As with most power stations you can also connect solar panels through the DC input, which makes the 522 more useful in extended camping or power outage scenarios. I don't have any panels myself, but I'm already looking at various options in case something goes on sale. As expected from an Anker product the SOLIX 522 feels high quality right out of the box, with a solid weight and rugged construction. It's easy to carry and small enough to toss in the back of the car. Anker's product description and 5-year warranty highlight the high-quality battery cells within, which Anker claims are designed to last a full decade. Only time will tell, of course, but I've had very good luck with the numerous Anker products I've purchased, so I'm prepared to believe them on this. For something you may not use every day but need immediately in an emergency the peace of mind of quality construction and long-lasting battery cells is invaluable. The wide selection of included ports means you can charge multiple devices simultaneously at top (or nearly top) speeds, as well as power small electronics like a fan, TV or even electric cooler without the 522 breaking a sweat. The display is both large and bright, displaying available charge and current input/output rates at the press of a button. It's great for monitoring the state of your power station at a glance and should be straightforward enough for any user to understand. For the most part you can just plug something in and go, there's no fancy setup needed. I appreciate Anker's smart power-saving mode, too, which will automatically stop feeding power to your devices once the unit detects they're fully charged. You can enable or disable this with the flick of a switch, so a device needing constant power won't be interrupted. With two USB-C and one wall charger connected and the built-in light shining the Anker 522 was able to put out 70-plus watts easily, with the display indicating approximately 3 hours of battery life at that discharge rate. The 522 lives up to its "quiet" claim, too, without any audible fan noise. Other similarly-priced power stations I've used spun up noisy fans whenever input or output wattage went above 50 or so watts, which is something to keep in mind if you're using this while trying to sleep, for example. I had high hopes for a power station with the Anker name on it, and I'm pleased to say the SOLIX 522 delivers. It packs a good selection of ports into a high quality, ruggedly portable package backed up by a long warranty. Anker includes not one, but two chargers in the box, and gives the 522 multipoint charging capabilities with USB-C PD on board. With winter bringing the possibility of power outages, I'm happily more prepared than before with the Anker SOLIX 522 on board, and I look forward to many years of trouble-free service ahead.
