Not what we needed

Claims are misleading
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To claim that this antenna works within 50 miles must be under ideal conditions across a space like the Grand Canyon (without any trees, hills, etc). I live within 20 miles of the transmission towers, yet could only get sporadic reception on a cloudless day. The antenna was next-to-useless, so needed to return. Gratefully, BestBuy took it back without any problems.

No better than rabbit ears
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a cheaply constructed antenna. Has no amplification, poor réception, no cable to reach the location you're going to mount to. Absolutely disappointed and is not worth it's value whatsoever. A rabbit ear antenna will work just as good for a 1/4 of the price. Returned it and would not recommend. The grill you serves no purpose except to hold the pieces.

Works well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product works for my application. Most of the broadcast towers are about 45-50 miles away but this is pulling them in. Was able to mount on the fence next to the old satellite dish and used the cabling from it - which worked very well. Mounting on the roof was not an option since we have a tile roof. I had previously tried and indoor antenna (the Leaf Ultimate from Mohu) which would just not pull in the channels I was hoping for - this was primarily because I needed the signal for a TV in our basement - but it could definitely work on a main or top floor. In fact, I moved it to the main family room in the basement which is on the other side of the basement from where I needed it and it worked much better over there. So from my experience if you are looking for an indoor antenna that may work for you. I was really not looking forward to an outdoor antenna due to the complexity of running cable but being able to use the existing cable from the old dish really simplified things. Overall, I am satisfied with this product. If you are looking for a way to stop paying for outrageous cable/satellite costs, this may be for you. The signal is strong (both UHF and VHF bands) and the picture is clear. Will see what happens with different weather and what happens when the trees get leaves on them again...

Did not work for our home setup.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It did not have the strength to provide coverage for our house. Stations would freeze or be lost.

Posted .When using one antenna for the whole house keep in mind that there is signal loss associated when splitting for multiple rooms or TV's. A distribution amplifier will fix this problem. It adds a boost to the signal and has multiple outlets and comes as a 4 or 8 output amplifier. Thanks.

good quality and simple to install
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good performance and pretty easy to install. The antennapoint.com web site was spot-on for the best direction, as confirmed by watching signal strength while turning the unit. The instructions talk about checking strength before permanently attaching the unit, and I highly recommend following this advice. I "temporarily" mounted it to the corner of my house gable, near the rain gutter. This worked with a signal strength of 50 out of 100 on my TV. Once I saw which direction it was pointed, I realized that I could mount the unit in my attic, and it would have a clear shot through the gable, to the TV station. My attic has foil backed roof panels, which would make attic mounting impossible (no signal), but the gables do not have the foil- so I simply mounted it in my attic (upside-down), pointed in the same direction as what I found from the web site, and the signal strength actually went up to about 75/100 (due to being higher up). I ran a 40' cable to a 4-way splitter, and still had good signals at all my TV's. My only complaint is that the rubber boot they give you to weatherproof your downfeed cable is hard to install. It's got several "steps" in the taper of the boot, and you're supposed to cut it off at the right one for your cable. Unfortunately, the step that was large enough to fit over the connector nut left too much slop around the wire once it was pushed in all the way. There must be a trick to doing this, but in the end it didn't matter since I mounted it inside. All the hardware seems to be well painted and very rugged.

Not worth it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this hoping that I would be able to watch network TV and not have to pay for another TV on my cable. The description said this would work up to 60 miles from the transmitter. I am 55 and all this did was give me a picsilated picture and $60: worth of regret.

Works Great!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I purchased this antenna for the purpose of "cutting the cable" as it were. This antenna got very good reviews and I can see why. We are getting over 40 channels(approximately 30 miles from either Cleveland or Youngstown Ohio) using a splitter connected to 2 TV's without the preamp hooked up yet. If anything, the Clearstream 2V has exceeded our expectations. Excellent antenna!!

Poor reception
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I coonected to my tv and was only able to get maybe 4 channels and they were not very clear. I did read something about with stucco reception might not be the best. In all fairness, I have not tried mounting it outside. It possibly might work then.

Great Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just bought the product today and installed it today. Hardest thing was taking down the DirecTV dish. It was a snap to put together and really did not need instructions because everything was obvious. It mounted on the existing pole without a problem. Ran the cable through the old DirecTV then right to the tv. Rescanned and after about 3 minutes had 29 stations. No breakup like on the Mohu. Mohu rep told me it was because of too much water interfering with the signal.
