Emperor is one of the most influential and talented Norwegian black metal bands to ever grace the scene and Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk is among their best efforts.From the opening track "Alsvartr (The Oath)" to the haunting instrumental final track "The Wanderer" you will be blown away.The production is excellent though it takes getting used to because it almost sounds as if they recorded it "live" in the studio and it has a very cold and moody sound.With each listen you will be treated to some new undiscovered layer of musicianship that will leave you in awe of their craft.I have owned this album since its US release 10 years ago and I still am amazed at how this album still delivers the same effect it had on me at it's release.This is a must own album for anyone that considers themselves to be a fan of the genre or a fan of metal at all.
