I made the mistake of buying an iPad a few days ago and regretted it almost immediately. Keep in mind that this is my one and only Apple product because I abandoned the brand some time ago. I decided to try again because I wanted a new tablet and the iPad was on sale. First, my old Apple ID was locked and the iforgot website you go to to reset passwords kept giving errors that Apple support couldn’t explain. Ultimately their efforts resulted my account to be locked for 8 hours. They advised me to not use the iPad and proceeded to schedule a call for the next day to try again. I can’t believe for a second that they didn’t have the ability to bypass this on their side. I see now why Microsoft dominates the Information Technology world. Sorry, I digressed. So we started off on the wrong foot and I forgave Apple’s support issues. We finally got it all straightened out and I was downloading apps soon after. Everything was going well until it was time to send some emails and play games. Typing is prettying effortless as long as you type slow. Also when you need to move the cursor around to make corrections within text, your cursor may go all over the place despite your efforts to slowly and precisely place the cursor. IOS has never been good at this and can be frustrating. Android devices definitely do a better job at this. Unlike some similar classed Android devices, the iPads performance is really good with switching between apps and playing games are top notch. The screen however is among the worst of any device I have ever used. As an IT professional who has worked with just about every mobile device you can imagine, the screen response is almost unbearable. It’s fine navigating around the OS and websites but anything fast paced like games is just embarrassing. Quick taps of the screen goes largely unnoticed which is game breaking. Sometimes a tap turns into the screen scrolling in random directions. Adjusting screen sensitivity isn’t effective at all so the only way to use it is to slow down and tap firmly. I don’t have any screen protectors installed or case for that matter to cause any interference. I’m at the point that I’m going to return the iPad for this reason. I’ve worked with and on many Apple products including replacing broken screens and other components. The latest iPad feels really cheap and hollow which I’m not used to. There are other tablets in the sub $300 price range where the build quality feels more premium and play games much better. If games is one of your primary reasons to own a tablet, steer clear of the iPad. If your needs don’t extend past watching your favorite streaming service and surfing websites, then the iPad does just fine. For the price, there are much better options out there.
