I've had quite a few iPads even the very 1st one I got off ebay back in the day plus a few iPad minis but I always go back to the regular iPad. I've had this for little over a yr and with the discount and a trade in I probably spent $100 on it which was brand new! Best Buy is always my go to place since they have great deals! I'm now thinking about the 10th generation. With the nice discount they have plus the trade in with this iPad it won't break the bank. I also love my Samsung Galaxy S Series tablets so I'll also look into those too but I will talk about the one at hand now. This iPad is a beast. I do a speed test on it periodically and it still keeps up nicely. I went for the 256gb cause in the past I'd go for lower and it just wasn't a good fit. You have to think about apple has tons of software updates and they take up some space so 256gb is more than enough space but if you think you'll need more than there is always the 512gb. As of now lately I've just been using it to read on my Kindle app but I do perform a lot of other tasks at hand. I strongly recommend this! It still has a few yrs left for software updates so it will still be a secure little tablet. I did get only wifi enabled since I don't take it out much and even if you want to use hotspot you can take it anywhere still. If you're buying an iPad here especially for the 1st time they give you free apple music for a few months and other apple products you may be interested. I highly recommend this without breaking the bank. I get there's more advanced once which are more pricey but honestly these ipads work just as good.
