Battery is horrible

Right out of the box charged the battery to 100% and when starting to use it. Not playing videos or anything. Using notepad the battery went down to 70% and it was just running very simple tasks such as browsing web pages nothing fancy. Returned one thinking that it was manufacturer defect. Exchanged for another and the same thing happened again. Made sure all apps was not running any tasks an within an hour of a full charge it goes down to 70%. Not what we expected from an iPad. I have 9th Gen from when it was 1st release and to this day it is running strong but these other 9th Gen iPad really makes me thing did Apple get a batch of bad batteries??? Regardless we returned the new iPad and will go with a diffrent series.
