No better wire than official Apple! the 6.5 foot length is convenient.

I tend to think Apple only wants you to use their branded cord so I stick to buying one of these about every year and a half. Other ones always seem to give me issues so I stopped bothering. Yes it will wear out eventually, but you use it a lot so that should be expected.
