Good alternative to carrying a laptop for travel

I bought a Samsung tablet and did not care for the interface. I sold that, and bought the iPad, after reading about the specifications to determine which one was best for me. I have traveled with it twice now and I really like it. I have an iPhone, so I am used to the interface, and I was able to pretty easily log into my work system and get things done while traveling. (I also bought the keyboard).
