If your already deep into the Apple eco-system, these are literally the only choice that make sense. Your more than likely already accustomed to paying Apple’s premium price tag if your even thinking about buying these. They sound great. And are surprisingly comfortable. I have very few issues with these headphones They’re a little heavy so they shift if you move your head quickly. There is no physical power button to save power. Maybe these issues will be corrected in the next Generation

The noise cancelling is magical. But the sound quality is better than I expected, and the reviews led me to expect a lot. I can hear different instruments more distinctly when playing jazz and classical, and the bass is solid and full on everything else. Very comfortable too. I did get a case for them, however, one that accommodates the smart case that comes with them. So far, battery life is fine. I love letting other people hear them with transparency mode on, and then activate the noise cancellation. They always look startled when it kicks in!!!

love these headphones a ton! they’re so cute and aesthetically pleasing but there’s a huge downside and that is that they feel very heavy and get kinda uncomfy though that could be the case wifh many headsets. these wireless headphones are easy and quick to charge. the noise cancellation could be better..but the sound quality is really amazing overall and the batter life is great .

Almost perfect. Problematic with MacOS & Handoff:(

The only place I think these things fall short seems to have to do with iOS & MacOS 1) Despite rigorous testing, convos with ChatGPT, etc. there is still a funky issue where sound quality is poor on MacOS unless you go to Sound Settings > Input > and then select a different microphone instead of the Airpods Max. It will instantly correct the audio problem. Look it up, tons of forums & Reddit pages on this issue/workaround. 2) Handoff between Apple devices can be problematic, especially when FaceTime gets involved. Hard to explain, but if you often wear these and swap between iOS & MacOS, its not always seamless. There are better headphones (audio & battery life) for the price, but I believe you pay the premium price on these BECAUSE of the promise to work well in Apple ecosystem...and they just fall a little short in that aspect Otherwise, I love them in every other way

I really love these headphones the noise canceling is great and very comfy to wear for anything! One problem i have with these headphones would be they can be a bit heavy and tend to slip off if im looking down doing my art for a while! Otherwise i love them and wouldnt get any other kind!

They're an Apple product, so they're good sounding headphones regardless of my personal preferences. Over ear headphones tend to give me headaches but these do not. The ear covers are removable and easy to clean. Relative to my Airpod Pro's, these are not that impressive. I like them for low movement activities like reading or watching TV, but other than than that I rarely reach for them over my normal airpod pro's. I also wish I could customize the sound settings in these, which is a feature I feel like is pretty standard in over ear headphones like this. I wouldn't necessary recommend these, they're not really worth the money. Comfort is good, physically easy to care for. Sound is just ok. They're just... fine.

The sound quality is the best I have experienced in the different styles (ear buds and over the ear) and brands (Bose, Sony and Apple) I have used over the years. If I have any complaints about these headphones it would be three (but minor points): 1) does not use the standard USB-C charging port. 2) A little heavier than other brands and styles used. 3) The standard storage option that comes with these headphones. This last point is a bit quirky as it would be nice to be able to fold and store in a smaller case.

In love with the headphones! Sound quality is amazing, battery life is very good. Love the noise cancellation feature. I’ve been researching these and others and these sound the best in my opinion. I’ve also seen people complaining about these in regards to sweat or stench but I’m sure there’s a way to clean, not to mention there are protective products for these. They do feel a little tight after extended wear but at that point I’m giving them a break anyways. Recommend!

I am beyond impressed! Right out of the box, the sleek design and premium finish caught my eye. After using it for several weeks, I can confidently say it’s the best headset I’ve owned. The sound quality is absolutely stellar. Whether I’m listening to my favorite tunes or catching up on podcasts, every note is crystal clear with just the right amount of bass. It’s also fantastic for gaming, providing an immersive experience where I can hear even the subtlest in-game sounds, which really enhances gameplay.

First tried the Sony competitor to these but the switching between apple devices was clunky. Once I returned them for the AirPod Maxes (on sale for $450) I realized there was more that I was missing including a much better fit, amazing transparency mode and better build quality.

I absolutely love these headphones. The sound quality is clear with deep bass and crisp highs, making them perfect for music, podcasts, and calls. They’re very comfortable to wear for long periods, and the padding doesn’t hurt my ears or head at all. The noise cancellation works well and really helps block out background noise when I’m studying or traveling. I also love the sleek design and color—it looks just as good as it sounds. Battery life has been great so far, and they connect easily to my devices. Overall, these are definitely worth the money and I would recommend them to anyone looking for high-quality headphones.

If you’re buying these for the gym, the sound on them is amazing. The sweat resistance is amazing as the material of the earcup doesn’t soak it up but it helps keep your ears from getting too hot. Only downside is they’re very pricy and very heavy. If you’re a person who does cardio and such, stick to beats.

The AirPods Max are undoubtedly a high-quality product, delivering incredible sound, top-tier noise cancellation, and a luxury design. If you're an Apple user looking for a seamless experience and don’t mind the premium price, these headphones will not disappoint. However, they come with trade-offs—namely, their weight, portability, and steep price tag—which may make them less appealing to people looking for value or those who prioritize practicality over luxury. Ultimately, the AirPods Max are a statement piece, offering more than just great sound—they’re a full-on experience. But for those who want solid performance without breaking the bank, there are other options that might be just as good, if not better, at a more reasonable price.

Other headphones I own when trying out these AirPods Max. 1. Sony WH1000XM3 2. Bose QC35 (first gen) 3. Beyerdynamic DT1990 Pro (wired, running on a THX AAA 789 amp) Build Quality: Top tier in the wireless ANC (active noise cancelling) class of headphones, expected for the stiff $550 price tag and it delivers. Aluminum and stainless steel throughout while the mesh headband may have questionable long life it is surprisingly nice to the touch. Earpads are comfortable, Apple labels them an "acoustic fabric" which has a unique feel. Comfort: Not as comfortable as the lightweight Bose QC35s but very good considering their weight and build. I've worn them for about 3 hours straight with no discomfort. I've got a big noggin' so clamping pressure can be an issue, but the AirPods Max have a good balance. I believe the wide mesh at the top of the headband does a good job of distributing the weight of these cans. Ease of Use: If you've got iPhone, iPad or Mac then the feature set and ease of use/setup is great. I don't really recommend these for Android or PC users as they aren't worth it when considering the features you lose out on. Pairing is easy, switching between devices, etc - as long as you're in the Apple ecosystem. Features: ANC is top tier right up there with Sony - possibly slightly better. However due to the pandemic travel has been difficult so airplane testing hasn't been done. They do a very good job overall. Transparency mode though is a step above the competition which others can sound digitized or muffled. AirPods Max doesn't sound like this at all, it mimics real world hearing as if you aren't wearing them really really well. Spatial Audio, a sort of simulated surround sound, is the best in class when content is available. It won't replace your home theater setup but for on the go movie watching it is a more immersive and fun experience. Sound: Top tier for their class of ANC/Wireless. They do not stand up to a more traditional wired setup like my Beyerdyamic DT1990 Pro but as far as sound goes in comparison to others like Bose and Sony - they are better in basically every way. Bass was surprisingly good and not too muddy or overblown like the Sony's can achieve - so if you're a bass-lover I'd go Sony but for a more balanced sound go AirPods Max. The Bose QC35 aren't really that great in the sound department in my opinion, they're a really boring headphone. AirPods Max are fun without being over the top and also don't take themselves too seriously by trying to be analytical or flat. Value: Eye of the beholder moment here. Are you in the Apple ecosystem? Do you value build quality? Are you looking for a unique feature set like Transparency mode and Spatial Audio? If you said yes to all of these then the value is there in my opinion. I'm not going to rank sound quality directly to value as everyone hears a little different so some of you out there may dislike this headphone's sound. I recommend giving it a try if you are curious, worse case scenario is you can return it within the generous return policy at Best Buy if you don't like them. I'll be keeping my pair - sort of - I want the blue color so I'll be returning the white pair to get a blue pair when they finally become available. I mean, what's up with that? Other colors shouldn't take so long.. but oh well. I gave this headphone an excellent rating based on their category against other wireless ANC headphones and assuming the person buying these is probably a Apple user who is deep in the ecosystem.

Within the Sound, I Found Myself

The first moment I put on the AirPods Max, the world felt a little more distant. It was as if the sound flowed only for me. The noise cancellation turned the city’s chaos into calm, and the music that emerged touched something deep inside. The cool aluminum fit gently in my hands, and its weight brought me fully into the present. It didn’t feel like I was listening to music— it felt like I was inside the music itself. Even my breathing began to align. Mysteriously. “There is truth in silence.” That’s what these headphones seemed to whisper. AirPods Max is not just a device that plays sound. It’s a space where I can return to myself.
