I’ve wanted these headphones since they came out and i was super excited to get them today but while i’m listening to the music the headphones crackle every like 15 seconds and the song glitches when it does it. I’ve never had that happen with any other headphone i’ve had so i’m pretty disappointed especially since they were expensive.

I wasn’t impressed with the sounds quality I was expecting something amazing. The reviews and YouTube videos gave this headphones so much hype! My old AT M50X sound almost the same. I ended purchasing the sennheiser momentum 3 because I needed Noise Cancellation.

The Good: Sound Quality, very clear and just enough bass for a punch (personally would like a little more) Comfort, the most comfortable head band I’ve ever had, ear cuffs made of fabric so don’t get hot either. Overall it is on the heavy side but still the only over the ear headphones I can wear for hours running errands or traveling. Noise transparency feature, can hear everything around you extremely clearly if you want to, feels like you’re not wearing anything at all. The Okay: Noise cancellation, It does a decent job but not mind blowing Carrying Case, more than anything it’s hard to find one that is not super bulky if you want extra protection from the one included Battery, easily make it through a whole day of traveling or a week of just casual wear, but it is something you’ll need to keep track of unlike some other headphones where it’s really never a worry. The Bad: Noise Bleed, this might a deal breaker depending on the use case, and enough to make it a 3 star review. When you have your volume up around 60% or higher. The sound will emit from your headphones very loudly to the outside world. At 90-100% volume it’s almost like a mini speaker. So consider this if you were planning to use them in a quiet setting. If you like to crank up the volume everyone in the room will very clearly hear what you’re listening to. All in all factoring in the price, the sound bleed issue somewhat made me regret buying them, however the things that it does well are enough to make up for it. Additionally, if you like the look and already in the Apple ecosystem then you will more than likely end up loving them (like me).

The AirPods Max are incredible. The sound quality is top notch—deep bass, clear mids, and crisp highs. Noise cancellation is excellent and blocks out almost everything. The build feels solid and premium, and the Space Gray finish looks sleek. They are a bit heavier than regular headphones, but still comfortable for long listening sessions. Battery life is strong, and pairing with my iPhone and other Apple devices is seamless. If you want high-end headphones that deliver amazing audio and work flawlessly in the Apple ecosystem, these are worth it.

Other headphones I own when trying out these AirPods Max. 1. Sony WH1000XM3 2. Bose QC35 (first gen) 3. Beyerdynamic DT1990 Pro (wired, running on a THX AAA 789 amp) Build Quality: Top tier in the wireless ANC (active noise cancelling) class of headphones, expected for the stiff $550 price tag and it delivers. Aluminum and stainless steel throughout while the mesh headband may have questionable long life it is surprisingly nice to the touch. Earpads are comfortable, Apple labels them an "acoustic fabric" which has a unique feel. Comfort: Not as comfortable as the lightweight Bose QC35s but very good considering their weight and build. I've worn them for about 3 hours straight with no discomfort. I've got a big noggin' so clamping pressure can be an issue, but the AirPods Max have a good balance. I believe the wide mesh at the top of the headband does a good job of distributing the weight of these cans. Ease of Use: If you've got iPhone, iPad or Mac then the feature set and ease of use/setup is great. I don't really recommend these for Android or PC users as they aren't worth it when considering the features you lose out on. Pairing is easy, switching between devices, etc - as long as you're in the Apple ecosystem. Features: ANC is top tier right up there with Sony - possibly slightly better. However due to the pandemic travel has been difficult so airplane testing hasn't been done. They do a very good job overall. Transparency mode though is a step above the competition which others can sound digitized or muffled. AirPods Max doesn't sound like this at all, it mimics real world hearing as if you aren't wearing them really really well. Spatial Audio, a sort of simulated surround sound, is the best in class when content is available. It won't replace your home theater setup but for on the go movie watching it is a more immersive and fun experience. Sound: Top tier for their class of ANC/Wireless. They do not stand up to a more traditional wired setup like my Beyerdyamic DT1990 Pro but as far as sound goes in comparison to others like Bose and Sony - they are better in basically every way. Bass was surprisingly good and not too muddy or overblown like the Sony's can achieve - so if you're a bass-lover I'd go Sony but for a more balanced sound go AirPods Max. The Bose QC35 aren't really that great in the sound department in my opinion, they're a really boring headphone. AirPods Max are fun without being over the top and also don't take themselves too seriously by trying to be analytical or flat. Value: Eye of the beholder moment here. Are you in the Apple ecosystem? Do you value build quality? Are you looking for a unique feature set like Transparency mode and Spatial Audio? If you said yes to all of these then the value is there in my opinion. I'm not going to rank sound quality directly to value as everyone hears a little different so some of you out there may dislike this headphone's sound. I recommend giving it a try if you are curious, worse case scenario is you can return it within the generous return policy at Best Buy if you don't like them. I'll be keeping my pair - sort of - I want the blue color so I'll be returning the white pair to get a blue pair when they finally become available. I mean, what's up with that? Other colors shouldn't take so long.. but oh well. I gave this headphone an excellent rating based on their category against other wireless ANC headphones and assuming the person buying these is probably a Apple user who is deep in the ecosystem.

The AirPods Max have been my go-to headphones for a few months now, and honestly, they live up to the hype if you’re looking for top-notch sound and noise-canceling capabilities. The audio quality is superb, with rich bass, detailed mids, and crisp highs that make everything sound incredible, whether it’s a podcast or a favorite playlist. Plus, the spatial audio feature adds a cool layer of depth, especially when watching movies or listening to immersive tracks. Noise cancellation is another strong point; it’s like flipping a switch to block out the world. Whether I’m in a noisy coffee shop or on a plane, I can stay focused without distraction. The transparency mode also works really well, allowing me to tune into conversations or sounds around me without taking off the headphones. In terms of comfort, the AirPods Max are impressive. The memory foam ear cushions and breathable mesh canopy make them comfortable for long listening sessions. And while they’re a bit heavier than other headphones, they feel sturdy and high-quality. The price is definitely premium, but if you’re invested in sound quality and seamless integration with Apple devices, they’re worth the splurge. Battery life is solid, typically lasting a full day with moderate use, and the setup with my iPhone and MacBook was practically instant. If you’re a sound enthusiast or just want the best Apple has to offer, the AirPods Max deliver in every way.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the remarkable audio prowess of Apple headphones, and I must say, they have left an indelible impression on me. The lightweight construction ensures a comfortable fit, even during extended listening sessions. The adjustable headband and cushioned ear cups provide a snug yet gentle embrace, allowing for hours of uninterrupted enjoyment. One standout feature that truly sets these headphones apart is the active noise cancellation technology. With a simple toggle, the outside world melts away, leaving only the purest audio experience. Whether I was on a bustling city street or a crowded home , the headphones effectively blocked out unwanted noise, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the music. It was like having my own private concert wherever I went. The integration with Apple devices is seamless, as expected. Pairing the headphones with my iPhone was effortless, and the controls on the ear cups allowed me to easily adjust the volume, skip tracks, and answer calls without reaching for my phone. The battery life is impressive, providing hours of uninterrupted listening pleasure, and the quick charging feature ensures that I am never without my beloved headphones for long. In conclusion, Apple headphones have surpassed my expectations in every way imaginable. I’ve been holding out for a long time relying on Bose and Jabra headphones, and finally gave these a try out of curiosity. While the other devices produce excellent sound, having the Max with my Apple devices simply was tempting. The build quality is excellent and the mesh very comfortable. The funky “case” is a minimal cover that provides just as much protection, but also has magnets to wake the headphones up upon removal and back to sleep when replacing them. Beyond that, however, there is no storage (i.e., for charger) and you’ll likely need a real case anyway. The Max is slightly bigger and significantly heavier than my other headphones. For frequent travelers that may matter. It also relies on Apple devices for battery status etc., unlike the voice guidance in my Bose 700. So what good are the Max anyway. For one, noise reduction and pass thru functionality are the best of any devices. That’s especially impressive since the Bose 700 headphones are no slouch in that category. So far, none of the discussed items rely on the Apple ecosystem. That changes when looking at spatial audio. This is best explained with an AppleTV. Once paired, and assuming the AppleTV is near the tv, you’ll have audio that simulates fixed speakers of a surround system. Turn your head, and the audio remains aligned with the tv and not your head. Another clever feature is that the AppleTV automatically paused when taking off the headset and resumed when putting them back on. Battery life is good, but the info on my connected iPhone 14 pro seems to get confused at times, predicting between 10 hours amd 28 on a full charge. Sound quality wasn’t my main motivation in light of the excellent incumbents. There are mixed reviews attesting anywhere between excellent and okay sound quality. It think the biggest issue is that the headphones try to adjust to the wearer without an opportunity to manually tweak. However, when paired with an Apple device (so far my only connected devices), the subjective sound quality is easily on par with my Bose 700. Naturally, they’re differently tuned and some audio may be slightly better on the Max, while another benefits more from the characteristics of the Bose. A side note that’s actually fairly significant when traveling. while the Bose 700 can transfer noise/vibration to impact the listening experience, the Max do far less so. This is likely due to the plastic housing in the 700, while the Max sport a strong aluminum housing. If all that justifies the price tag of the Max is something of a personal preference. I was on the fence until I paired them with my AppleTV 4K (2022). The spatial audio, automatic pairing and other convenience features really justified the expense in hindsight. (It’s still a very expensive pleasure. Note that these headphones still use the lightning plug, and require such cable. There is no charger included, and currently I have to carry USB-C and lightning cables anyway.

I’m still giving these 5 stars because, as far as headphones go, they really are excellent. Awesome sound quality. Balanced and distinct highs and lows. Incredible noise cancelling and transparency modes. As far as I’m concerned, these headphones are wonderful when it comes to sound. Along with that, you’ve got the seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem, and they pair like any other Bluetooth headphones. The build quality of these headphones as well is that incredible, precise, and premium Apple quality. Having these one for hours at a time is also fine because of how comfortable they are. The battery life is also really good. What I’ve just listed are only the pros, but these headphones aren’t flawless. I would consider these headphones to have two major disadvantages compared to other headphones. The biggest one for me personally is no power button. You simply cannot turn these off. No button, nothing on the phone. Nothing. How they’ve got around this is the case, which evidently is my second biggest con. The “case” that comes with these is laughably goofy. Not sure if it even qualifies as a case. It just covers the earcups and that’s it. The mesh headband (which I like) is completely exposed, so if you’ve got this in a backpack or whatever you’ve got to be mindful of what else is in with it. So how does the case fix the “there’s no power button” problem. Well, when you put these back in the case, the headphones go into an ultra low power mode. I will say that it’s honestly pretty impressive. I didn’t use my headphones for a few months after traveling and when I went to put them on recently I was expecting them to be completely dead, but they still had 1% power left. Not much, but very impressive considering they were idle for roughly two months. So if you use these regularly, put them in the case and you’ll be fine. However, if you put them down for a bit and don’t use them, they still use power. It’s only in the case they go into ultra low power mode. It’s more of an annoyance that ultimately doesn’t effect the main purpose of these, but it’s annoying enough that I feel like it’s gotta be mentioned. Overall, I would still recommend these and still think they are excellent headphones despite the two small flaws I mentioned, mainly because they don’t necessarily affect the sound quality.

The Apple AirPods Max are nothing short of a game-changer in the world of audio technology. From the moment I unboxed them, I was impressed by the premium build quality and sleek design. The ear cups are incredibly comfortable, making them perfect for long listening sessions without any discomfort. The sound quality is outstanding, with rich, immersive audio that brings every note to life. Got these for advanced noise cancelling and comfort for long flights and work calls. The product did not disappoint. Very sturdy build and seamless pairing and transfer/handoff to my other Apple devices. They provide FULL coverage for the entire ear, and are large enough to accommodate larger ear sizes which is key for having a good seal for noise cancellation and solid bass. Charging is reasonably fast and the battery life will definitely get you through a day of flying or conference calls with no need to be charged. I do recommend using the magnetic case when not in use because they can sometimes not go to sleep and drain overnight, so using that case is an important factor. The fit on my head is super comfy, yet very secure. Apple knew how to design soft and comfortable ear pads. I got the older model on an open box deal and love it regardless. If you don't mind lightning charging over USB-C, there is not much difference between the second generation and the first, so if you are on the fence, just get the older one for less money.
