Good Build Quality
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Apple AirPods Max are a triumph in both design and performance. Their luxurious build and unparalleled comfort, thanks to the memory foam cushions and well-distributed weight, make them a pleasure to wear for hours on end. Sound quality is exceptional, delivering rich, immersive audio with crisp highs, detailed mids, and deep bass. The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) effectively silences external noise, allowing for a truly immersive listening experience. Additionally, the spatial audio with dynamic head tracking offers a theater-like experience, bringing a new level of realism to movies and music. In summary, the AirPods Max are a premium choice for anyone seeking top-tier sound quality, comfort, and innovative features. They're a significant investment, but for the quality and experience, they're worth it.

Amazing!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical of these headphones because of the price. They are absolutely with it. The battery life lasts multiple days. They are comfortable and truly are noise canceling. They have a few different modes, allowing you to completely block out any outside noise or because able to hear what is going on around you while listening to music. There is no need to blast your music to cancel out any other sounds, therefore saving your hearing in the long run :)

Great Sound, But Comfort Falls
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two sets of Apple AirPods Max headphones—one for myself and one for my spouse—after trying them out at Best Buy and being blown away by the sound quality. We’ve owned premium headphones before (I have Bose QuietComfort from 2019, and my spouse has JBL), but we were looking for something with more bass, and the AirPods Max delivered on that front. Additionally, the ability to pair what I’m listening to with my spouse’s headphones was a great feature. However, after using them for walking, traveling and other daily activities, we found them to be incredibly uncomfortable. While the sound quality and noise canceling are fantastic, the headphones are heavy and don’t stay secure—if you bend down, they can easily fall off. Wearing them for extended periods, like during a flight, caused me to develop headaches and tension around my head. I tried to adjust to them, but the discomfort only grew with time. The earpads are okay, but not as comfortable as my older Bose headphones, which are lighter and can be worn all day without issue. I even replaced the ear cushions on my Bose to extend their life, and they remain my go-to headphones for comfort and usability. While the AirPods Max have some standout features and a sleek, aesthetic design, they fall short when it comes to practicality and long-term wear. Ultimately, I returned the AirPods Max and purchased Sony headphones for my spouse. The Sonys offer the bass we were looking for, along with better comfort. I still appreciate Apple’s regular AirPods for walking and exercising, but the AirPods Max just aren’t worth the high price tag if they can’t deliver on comfort. Overall, the AirPods Max have exceptional sound and noise-canceling technology, but the weight and discomfort make them impractical for everyday or extended use. Apple still has a way to go in designing a product that balances form, function, and comfort. For now, I’ll stick with my trusty Bose headphones.

Airpods Max
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Apple headset has clear sound, strong bass, and very comfortable fit. The noise cancellation works really well, and the battery lasts long enough for daily use. A little pricey, but worth it for the quality.

A Honest Maybe Slightly Bias Review
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im an ex-Apple employee, and not to sound like im an obsessed Apple Fan, but these headphones are definitely worth it, just make sure you can find it at a discount 'cause everyone knows Apple has never has heard of a discount before. They're soft, and easy to pair with an iPhone, I think it's really cool that you can take out the mesh cups, because honestly other companies dont really consider it. Now I cant really get into the specifics about the quality of music or sound because im not an audiophile. Im not going to say theyre the best thing my ears has ever heard because I simply dont know, but if you are looking to build your apple ecosystem, then these headphones are really amazing to have, especially on the plane, walking in the city, on public transit, or even just cleaning your house. The transparency mode and noise-cancellation work really well. and all the controls are simple to understand in like 5 minutes.

A must
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love my AirPods Pro Max! The sound quality is amazing, and the noise cancellation is on another level. They’re incredibly comfortable, and the design is sleek. The only downside is that I chose the white version, which does get dirty pretty easily. I’ve already bought a protector to keep them looking new, but I wish I had done that from the start. It’s not the headphones’ fault; it’s just something to keep in mind if you’re thinking about getting them in white. Just a fair warning!

Comfortable and effortless, with minor issues.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always had issues with finding overear headphones that wouldn't strain my ears after extended periods of listening. These have proven to be some of the most convenient and comfortable headphones I've ever worn. The pads are made with a breathable mesh and my ears fit into them without touching the drivers themselves. The sound is also excellent, with a good dynamic range that highlights details and provides bass without overdoing either. I have a few minor but regularly annoying issues with these headphones. Connectivity: They lack a 3.5mm headphone out, there is no USB audio to use these wired to a device, and they charge with a Lightning cable (a pro device in all but name that when paired with an iPad Pro or a MacBook, needs a separate charging cable). I have purchased the 3.5mm Apple cable and it is the flimsiest cable I have ever purchased aside from their official USB-C or Lighting audio dongles. If they had went the route of using the materials they use for their pro Thunderbolt 3 cable, I would forgive the requirement of such a cable to plug to any one of my devices that still have a headphone jack (including my MacBook). Most people do not need extremely-low latency audio (for things such as video/music production) so this will be a non-issue for them. For latency-critical work on my MacBook, it is annoying I have to use this cable which does not charge the device unlike comparable headphones that use USB-C audio which can power the headphones and bypass the internal DAC of the device they're connected to. These headphones lack a user-accessible power switch or toggle. There is a growing market of headphone stands that incorporate the magnets of the included case to put these into sleep mode, but my current headphone stand lacks these. When placed on the stand, the internal sensors detect that the headphones are "on" something, so they remain on and play audio from any Apple device I'm using. This prevents me from ditching the included (and horrible) case to use my own stand. All of these criticisms are aimed at features or characteristics that accompany a pair of headphones that are so effortless in every other way. They automatically pair with all of my Apple devices and switch between them depending on which device I'm actively using. The latency is good when watching YouTube or other content and they sound wonderful. The build quality is excellent and the engineering that went into the sound and wireless connectivity in this device must have been costly and difficult. Maybe I expect too much from headphones of this price range that feature all of the Apple niceties and annoyances, but they're priced incredibly high to ignore these issues.

AirPods Max
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Apple AirPods Max deliver exceptional sound quality, effective noise cancellation, and seamless integration with Apple devices in a sleek, premium design. With features like spatial audio and Transparency Mode, they offer an immersive listening experience. However, their high price, heavier build, and limited customization for non-Apple users might be drawbacks. Ideal for Apple enthusiasts seeking top-tier performance, but competitors offer better value for the price.

Very good but expensive
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First the good: The sound is excellent as is the noise cancellation. In addition to noise canceling having an on/off option there’s also a transparency option which actually amplifies outside noise. That’s controlled by a well placed button on the top front of the right earpiece. The right rear has a Digital Crown like on the Apple Watch that you twist to adjust the volume or press to pause the music. Both are easy to locate and intuitive to use. The build quality is very good and solid and they are quite comfortable even for extended wearing. The ear pads are attached by magnets and are replaceable! This is great for me as every pair of over the ear headphones I’ve ever had have eventually worn out the ear pads and I end up just buying a whole new headset. The downside is that the replacements are $69 each. Which brings me to the bad: They’re expensive. Though you can usually find them for less than the $549 list price. I did, at Best Buy, plus I also got an additional $35 off since it was my birthday. These headphones are really best for people in the Apple ecosystem, especially if you want to use them wired to a device with a headphone jack. That requires an additional lightning to 3.5mm jack cable for an additional $35. That being said, I knew this all going in, bought them anyway, and I’m very happy with my purchase. Would really like to give them 4 ½ stars with the small ding for the cost

Money can buy beautiful things.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones are comfortable and sound great! I’m not sure if they are worth the high price tag but that’s how much they are and I have been willing to pay more for Apple products before. They make things very easy to use. I opened the box and as soon as I turned the headphones on, they connected to my devices. I purchased silicon covers for the exterior and the ear cups because I want them to always look the way they do now. I also bought a seperate case for them because the one that comes with them is not protective. The aesthetic is what you are paying for. I love the green color…something different than the same old black or white headphones.

Best headphones I've ever owned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I also have the SONY XM4 but after reading all the good review of these I decided to bite the bullet and give these a try. $600 is not a small amount to swallow for a pair of headphones. I'm not an audiophile, but definitely someone who appreciates good sounding music. After receiving these, I immediately compared them with the XM4 back and forth with the same songs from Apple Music. Here is what I found: (1) the sound: the AirPods Max definitely sound better, but not by a whole lot. They have slightly better instrument separation. The highs are more crisp (I thought the XM4 was already very good in this regard but the AirPods Max are just even better). XM4's bass is a bit deeper but the AirPods Max's is still good and I'd say even a bit less muddy than the SONY's. I guess each to their own. Overall, every time I put on the AirPods Max for the same song, the song alway sounds just a slightly clearer and more pleasant for my taste. (2) the comfort: Sony wins this one hands down. Although I didn't feel much about the extra weight, there's definitely that clamping feeling on my head with the AirPods Max. Every time when I switched back to the XM4, my head immediately felt relieved. However, I also found that I was able to get used to the AirPods Max and wore them for hours without issues. (3) the Transparency mode: Apple definitely wins this one, and, to my surprise, this has become the main reason I'm keeping these. The Max's transparency mode is just so much better than the XM4's. I found myself sounding a lot more natural and even have a bit heightened sense of hearing with the Max's transparency mode on. The Sony's sounds just too robotic to me. I also like the simplicity of activating this feature by just a push of a button on the Max. (4) the Hand-off feature: I have an iPhone, an iPad and a Mac Mini. The airpods just switch between them effortlessly. However, I also have these connected to my work Windows 10 PC. The auto handoff feature will stop working if they’re still connected to the PC. Just keep this in mind. (5) Build quality. Apple wins this one for sure. Overall, I’d say that the sound of these is about $50-100 better than the XM4's. Considering the added features, much better build quality and the leather carrying case (which I hate btw), I was actually surprised that the $550 asking price actually seems to be reasonable to me now since the SONY’s MSRP is $350. Sure, it sucks these headphones don’t have an on-off button and won’t turn themselves off until you put them in the ugly case. But, on the other hand, they easily last about 3 days of use in my case. I think if I can charge my phone every day then I can certainly charge these once every 3 days. To be honest, I was going to return them after first wearing them and feeling the clamping effect on the first day. But after a couple of more days of extensive use, I’ve decided to keep them around because I think they're worth it.

Very good quality, but questions to be considered
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.High quality of sound. Noise cancelling is perfect. The transparence mode sounds very natural and clean. Connection with Apple devices is so faster and dynamic. The battery could be better since the market competitors have excellent options with a longer life battery. Other question is the weight on your head, which you can feel after some hours of use.

Nuisances of the AirPods Max
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are an abundance of reviews on the AirPods Max, so in this review I do not go through the usual attributes, but rather focus on specific items/issues. Hope this helps. When you (a prospective buyer) are here, it’s likely that you have already done your research, and that you are set to buy it but might have some reservations. Yes, the aesthetic, sound, functionality, and build quality are awesome. Phone call quality is phenomenal. Just deal with the case or buy another one from a 3rd party. Let me address certain issues that many of us might have concerns: 1) Battery drain. Yes, it was an issue. The root cause appears to be the old firmware which causes the APX not to be (or at least consistently) in sleep mode when placed in the case and likely connected via Bluetooth or constantly trying to look for connected device(s). After the firmware update, the issue was reasonably resolved — please do not expect it to not lose less than 3% over a span of 12 hours. 2) Connectivity issue. In an ideal situation, when an APX is taken out of the case and put on one’s head, there are a visual indicator and subsequently an audible indicator that the APX is connected to a mobile device (e.g., an iPhone). Indeed, the sound is output to the APX from the mobile device’s source. However, at times, the sound indicator is present, with or without the visual indicator, and the APX is not connected to the mobile device. I have to manually connect the APX. After multiple resets, this issue appears to be mitigated, and only happens once awhile. 3) Weight & moisture/heat. After wearing for an extended period of time, there’s moisture and heat built up over the ears, probably due to the mesh material. For me, neither the weight nor the built-up moister/heat is a contributing factor in causing unbearable discomfort. In deed it’s very comfortable to wear. To some, I could see that the built-up moister/heat could cause discomfort. A brief removal of the APX could likely help mitigate the moisture/heat issue. 4) Observation—automatic music resumes. With the auto head detection’s being turned on, when the APX is taken off/removed, music pauses and will resumes upon sensing that the APX is put back on your head over the ears. However, I observed that the music is paused and can be automatically resumed only if the APX is removed no longer than 15 seconds. If there are more than 15 seconds, resume functionality needs to be manually activated. In brief, it’s a great wireless headphone at its price range with a few nuisances that not only can be mitigated, but are substantially outweighed by the positive attributes.
