These are awesome headphones and like all Apple products, they integrate so very well with the rest of my Apple universe (iPhone, iPads, MacBook Air, etc.). The sound is superior in my opinion and the Spatialize Stereo function actually increases the music audio performance nicely. The simple switch button between ANC and Transparency Mode works great and I very much like Transparency Mode. When you have your headphones on and your wife want to chat, just click the button and she comes in loud and clear. I swear that I can actually hear better with my headphones on and Transparency Mode on than I can hear with my headphones off! The volume dial works great, but I did switch the default high/low setting direction because it seemed wrong to me. It’s simple to reverse the direction in settings if you feel the same. My only complaint is that the headphones are not adjustable like virtually every other set of headphones I have owned before. I have a larger head, so the fit on my head is slightly tighter than I’d prefer. It’s acceptable, but not as comfortable as the fit with my Bose QC 35’s that are fully adjustable. If you have a larger head, definitely try these on at the store before you buy just so you are ok with the comfort of the fit on your head. I would have thought Apple could have added some adjustability into these things to make a better fit more available to those of us in the “larger head community”. Hah! But other than that, I think you’ll like these AirPods Max. My rating: 4 1/2 stars (minus 1/2 star due to lack of adjustability).

This review likely won't say anything that hasn't already been written, but maybe it'll help someone. I was looking for over-the-ear noise-canceling wireless headphones for travel and occasional use while doing chores around the house. I was considering Bose and Sony, since both got great reviews and I've been really happy with the Bose Quiet Comfort wired earbuds. I love my Airpods Pro, except they don't like to stay in my ears and I can't imaging wearing them for hours on end. The Airpods Max went on sale a few weeks ago, which helped me get over the sticker shock. I use them with my iPhone 12 Max Pro and iPad Pro exclusively. The sound is deep and crystal clear. I couldn't imagine better sound. The fit is super comfortable. I could likely wear them throughout an international flight with ease. Storage is awkward with their little flappy case, but I'll either buy a third party case or keep them in a protective camera backpack I use for travel. Just wait til they're on sale.

Amazing build quality and, despite their weight, pretty comfortable to wear. I enjoy using the dial for controlling playback and volume. It’s tactile and precise. Sound is astonishingly good for a first effort at proper wireless ANC headphones. Good bass, clear through the mids, and some top end sparkle. Definitely in the top end selection of Bluetooth ANC headphones. There are other options that have slightly more depth to their sound and clarity but they are far and few between, as well as costing at least as much. And, of course, airpods gain nice extra features with Apple devices - equalisation, automatic device pairing. So, why not 5 stars? Well, although very comfortable, they are heavy and do slip back on my head if I’m not sitting upright. Sometimes the automatic switching between audio on my iPad and on my iPhone is janky and doesn’t work without me intervening manually. They only have AAC and SBC audio codecs, so the best audio quality is only available on iOS devices. The bra case is a complete joke. Lightning wired input and charging only. And that price is still painful on the wallet. Spatial audio hasn’t proven to be a stunning improvement over any other headphones for me so far. There is limited content that supports it, and that is mainly on Apple TV+. The locking sound to your device screen is very effective but I haven’t noticed any amazing surround sound effects whilst watching movies. For reference, I tried Greyhound on Apple TV+, with Dolby Atmos and spatial audio on. It’s a movie full of explosions and audio effects - yes, there was some positioning of sources but not really convincing surround in my opinion. Overall, though, they’re pretty great if you are using Apple devices and I’d recommend them as one of the top choices for wireless ANC headphones.

I've gone through several similar headphones over the years, and these are by far the best I've owned. The audio is clear, I walk around the house with them, noise cancelling is amazing. I thought of waiting until new model came out, but I was in dire need of new headphones. I love the sky blue color, and I invested in a hard case as well as clear covers to protect the headphones. I've owned for over a month and absolutely love them!

These headphones are a game changer. They are comfortable, produce amazing sound, and have the best noise cancellation I've ever experienced. The battery life is nothing to sneer at either. I've had them for over a month now, and I use them almost every day.

In love with the headphones! Sound quality is amazing, battery life is very good. Love the noise cancellation feature. I’ve been researching these and others and these sound the best in my opinion. I’ve also seen people complaining about these in regards to sweat or stench but I’m sure there’s a way to clean, not to mention there are protective products for these. They do feel a little tight after extended wear but at that point I’m giving them a break anyways. Recommend!

Amazing sound quality and a little expensive, but they are worth the price. They are amazing comfortable and the build quality is the best and that is what your paying for. They connect easily with my iPad Pro and sound great when watching movies or videos with spatial audio is awesome.

I am beyond impressed! Right out of the box, the sleek design and premium finish caught my eye. After using it for several weeks, I can confidently say it’s the best headset I’ve owned. The sound quality is absolutely stellar. Whether I’m listening to my favorite tunes or catching up on podcasts, every note is crystal clear with just the right amount of bass. It’s also fantastic for gaming, providing an immersive experience where I can hear even the subtlest in-game sounds, which really enhances gameplay.

These headphones are AWESOME! The sound quality is amazing and they are very comfortable to wear. I have worn them for almost 4 hours straight and they did not bother me at all. They connect easily and stay connected very well. Finally, a headphone that sounds great and has a lot of great features.

These are the best set of headphones I’ve owned. The noise cancellation these bad boys offer is insane, and they fit super comfortably. They may be a bit bulky/weighty to carry around when not in use, but once they’re on your head and being used, they’re super comfortable. I also have the AirPod Pro earbuds, and still use them from time to time. I’ve also owned a couple pairs of Beats Solos, and the AirPod Pro Max still take the cake.

These headphones are great. Very comfortable and the sound is amazing. It has the silent mode so you can’t hear noise from the outside. Very easy use and charge lasts a long time.

These are phenomenal! The feature for noise control is the best. They fix perfect. They are my newest favorite thing.

These things have saved me with all of the work trips I’ve had to take. The noise cancellation is top notch. After I’ve boarded my plane, the first thing I do is put these on and cancel everyone else out. Comfortable to wear, and they sound awesome.

The good: They sound incredible. It feels like you’re at a concert surrounded by the music. The noise cancellation is unmatched, in my opinion, even by the Sony XM5s. The bad: The price is just not quite justified, even on sale. The case is so stupid. They don’t fold up so they can fit into a case, and the one provided is not very protective. It doesn’t make me feel safe putting these expensive headphones in my bag. Yeah, you can get one that’s more protective, but for the price tag you shouldn’t have to. It’s also pretty frustrating that the only cable you can use is lightning, so you’d have to buy another cable if you want wired listening for higher quality. Overall, the good mostly outweighs the bad, but it’s really up to personal preference to decide if you think it’s worth it for twice as much as other flagship wireless headphones. There are other great choices out there for a lot less.

Excellent headphones. More balanced compared to their Beats line. Very good noise canceling. Comfortable to wear. Seamless integration with Apple products. The included case is essentially useless aside for putting the headphones in sleep mode, but this is well documented.
