Customers consistently note the AirPort Express Base Station's ease of use, impressive range, and strong signal strength as significant benefits. Many appreciate its compact size and straightforward setup process, while seamless compatibility with Apple products is also frequently praised. However, some users find the price to be relatively high and express a desire for more ports. The device's performance is generally viewed favorably.

This was a nice apple base station. But, we had a hard time getting it to set up with ours.

I was using this for the Airplay feature mostly. It seems a bit sluggish on the playing and pausing with Airplay.

I have several Airport Express' around my home for different purposes. Two of the newer ones, and one of the older ones. The newer design is better now that it's designed to sit on a surface. The previous design was meant to hang from a plug. Luckily for that one, I had an old iBook cable that connected to it and allowed my to put it flat on a surface.
The AirPort Express is easy to set up with Apple's AirPort Utility. Express allows you to use it as an extension of an existing network or create a new one. In my home, I use two for piping music from iPods, iPhones, any of my Macs, including a Mac Mini that I use as a music server, to separate sound systems in my home. One is an old boombox in my garage and the other is a old Klipsch iGroove that's not compatible with newer iPods and iPhones. This is great way to again find use for that dockable sound system that's no longer compatible with newer iPods and iPhones. My last Express is used to make my Dymo label printer wireless.
I've also used an Express when traveling to create my own wireless network in my hotel room. Some upscale hotels charge $10 per day for wireless access but almost always provide free wired Internet. In that case, I connect my AirPort Express to the wired network to create my own wireless network. Not only do I save $, but also have a more trusted wireless network that I, and anyone I'm with, can access. In some areas where I might not trust a provided wireless network, I've set up my own network in addition to the one provided.
I sincerely love this product and highly recommend it. It's flexibility is amazing.

Best Buy Salesperson told me the Air-Port works as a range extender. Well, the first one didn't, so I returned for another... then another.. and on the third one, I called Apple because I knew something had to be wrong... and was told that the airport will NOT work as an extender. Sure wish the salesperson products better. It was a nightmare

I was promise in BEST BUY (a sale representative) that it was easy to install and to use and is not. When you call customer service in APPLE they don't even know how to install it right...I purchased this item about a month ago mainly for the use of my new laptop and today is the day I haven't been able to use my laptop.

Slowed network speed to a crawl

I connected the Airport Express Base Station to my network to extent the network to a distant portion of my house. I used an ethernet cable because the Best Buy salesman said connecting via WiFi would become a drag on network speed because of network overhead. When I brought the system up the network could hardly download a web page. However, as soon as I disconnected the power to the Airport Express Base Station and rebooted the Airport Base Station alone, all was well again. I tried using the WiFi connectivity without the ethernet cable and the network was still too slow to use as the Best Buy salesman said it would be.
