Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the AirPort Express Base Station's ease of use, impressive range, and strong signal strength as significant benefits. Many appreciate its compact size and straightforward setup process, while seamless compatibility with Apple products is also frequently praised. However, some users find the price to be relatively high and express a desire for more ports. The device's performance is generally viewed favorably.

Bought this on advice of salesman. Works fine on iPad. iPhones have sporadic connections and not reliable. Windows computer does not work well at all. Constantly losing connection. This router is literally 15 feet from computer on same level. Taking back to store. Would not recommend.

Apple express not a good buy

I was told that the Apple express would expand the wifi service in my house. It did not do any of that, my house is small and the bad reception was in one of my bedrooms, so I had the box there. It still didn't help, what sucks is that you only have 15 days to take it back, well I was waiting to see if maybe I hooked it up wrong or something, my 15 days passed I was only able to do an exchange which was not a problem, but I feel if you have all the original packing and receipt, you should be able to get your full refund not make you buy something else. Not sure if I would even continue to shop there anymore.

I just got rid of my old router, single band Netgear, that was either starting to go, or I never noticed just how bad it was till now. I have a connection of 35 Mbps, and never did a speed test till last week. I was only getting 30 Mbps sitting next to the router, and less than 20 on the other end of the house, and less than 18 in the basement. Now, with this router, I am getting no less than 34 Mbps everywhere in the house. I can now go outside again and enjoy my iPad and laptop in the yard with full strength signal. If you are familiar with the size of the Apple TV, then that is the size out this unit. Very small and beautiful. And for people that want to have a secure network, but don’t know how to do it, Apple provides software to get the unit up. I had it plugged in, named, password protected in less than 5 minutes. I have worked with routers from pretty much all the companies, and BY FAR, this is the easiest to setup. If you have never used an Apple product before, this is a sweet entry item to get. If you have used Apple stuff before, than you know how good this is. This item could be selling for $150 and it would still be worth EVERY penny. If you are looking for a new router, I can not recommend this item enough. It just works.

Called store they connected me to Geek Squad after about 20 minutes waiting for someone to help me I gave up and had to get back to work. I went back into Best Buy the next evening and asked advice in person. I did what he said, that didn't help either. I called again and talked to someone in the store who relayed advice from Geek standing next to him. Still didn't work. I spent a total of Seven hours on this plus three hours drive time traveling back to my mother's whom I bought it for. Next time I will buy online from someone who has better support. It's not the first time I've gotten bad info here.

2nd unit worked, to replace 1st gen device, and had to return 1st, as it would not configure or work; better solutions out there now, so quality is not as good and too expensive for what it does

    Simple, reliable

For any household or business with at least one Apple device, it's hard not to recommend the simplicity and reliability of the AirPort series. Would it be nice if the Express had Wireless AC? Yes. Would it be nice if it was gigabit? Yes. But for extending wireless N range for existing AirPort networks, adding AirPlay speakers, or even serving as the DHCP server from the modem to a [gigabit/AC] AP or switch on anything less than a 100 mbps link, this little box can't be beat. No other $100 router is nearly as simple or reliable. If you need the AC or gigabit capability, buy an Airport Extreme (or Time Capsule) instead. Manage your router from an App not from a browser page that looks like 1998.

I came into Best Buy expecting to buy a Netgear and the sales person kept telling me how the apple airport was so much better. I tried at home and wasn't happy at all. I exchanged it for a Netgear.

When paired with the airport time capsule, this router isn’t the best for streaming or gaming, not even for streaming or connecting to other Apple products.

i'm a huge apple fan (in fact, i'm writing this from my macbook air i bought from best buy) but i had a difficult time with this product. i did everything according to the book to set this up but could not get it to work at all. did tons of research online and i figured if it was this much trouble than it's not really worth it. so i returned it to get the netgear wifi extender.
