Customers consistently note the AirPort Express Base Station's ease of use, impressive range, and strong signal strength as significant benefits. Many appreciate its compact size and straightforward setup process, while seamless compatibility with Apple products is also frequently praised. However, some users find the price to be relatively high and express a desire for more ports. The device's performance is generally viewed favorably.

To put it simply that product didn't work for me at all. I'm an IT professional and know how to set up hardware devices, but my Airport Express simply wouldn't connect. I returned it and bought something else that worked out of the box.

The new Airport Express - thumbs up

I use this in bridged mode, as an access point only. Throughput performance and range in both bands are very good. I wish it had a gigabit interface - maybe the next model, when Apple supports the AC spec.. Configuration is not web based, but does support multiple platforms with dedicated apps. I use air tunes through this to drive my patio speakers. Physically, the device is very small, about the size of a deck of cards. I've never had to reboot any of my Apple airport devices, unlike some of the other brands I've owned over the years. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to setup a new wireless network, or to expand coverage inside their home. This is also a great product to travel with if you need to setup a private network for your family while on the road.

Had trouble hooking it up and, once operational, it did not have the range coverage I needed for 3400sq ft 2-story home. I love Apple products; this would probably work well for smaller home /apartment.

I would highly recommend this product. Our Internet speed was so slow before we purchased and set these up. Not sure we needed 3 but definitely does help when you have them spaced about 20-30 feet around house.

Very easy to install, as easy as plug and play, quick connect, doubled my internet speed ( no joking) looks great better than a big router with antenna's sticking up and getting in the way. Very happy I went with this router.

Primary purpose was a a range extender...it did not do it in my application. Took it back and got a Belkin ....which worked like a charm and was easy to set up.

I recently upgraded my speed through my local cable company. Immediately noticed I was not getting the speed or service I should have. I contacted the cable company and they assured me that everything to my modem was working correctly. I then knew I had to upgrade my current equipment. I had a Linksys DOCSIS 2.0 modem and a Linksys 54G router. I purchased a Motorola 6121 DOCSIS 3.0 modem and my speed increased but the router kept dropping. I guess it couldn't handle the increased data. I then purchased the new Apple Airport Express Base Station from Best Buy. Wow, I came home unhooked the old router installed the new AE and I was up and running in about 5 minutes. No drops, super fast speed and full bars even in my backyard. I could not be more pleased.
I am currently supporting; 2 desktop computers, 2 IPhones, 1 IPad, 2 Apple TV, many accessing the internet at the same time with no issues. Apple advertises up to 50 devices and I believe it. I will defiantly look to Apple for other products. If you are looking for performance along with easy setup, look further than the new Airport Express.

I recently added one of these to my wireless network at home, mostly because of coverage issues from one side of my house to the other (130 feet through 1940's construction). While I like the range of the wireless and that it's repeater mode works well with my Time Capsule (second gen 2TB), I don't like the fact that if I ever needed to use it for my primary router for ANY reason that my internet connection would take a hit (Comcast 50 down runs closes to 90 or so during the evening and even faster after about 10pm around here). Also, previous generations of AirPort Express (G and single-band operation N models) had the plug connectors like those on a MacBook, PowerBook, iBook, or iPad charger, where you can swap between a direct connection to the wall. This, to me, is a drawback should I start a new job involving travel; I almost always connect a router to my hotel room's ethernet port instead of connecting to public WiFi, as the public WiFi is always slow in a hotel.
While I'm thinking about it, Apple should send out a software update that enables the USB port to support more than just printers; This would be a handy device to connect some external hard drives or large flash drives to.
It's saving grace is the AirPlay audio output, which no other router has. This feature allows me to use a 3.5mm audio cable to connect to a wireless audio base unit in my kitchen, that in turn sends audio from my Mac or my iPhone to wireless speakers I can use in and around the house. Being that the speakers run on 2.4 GHz spectrum and interfere with every wireless network within about 350 feet of my home (haha, time to upgrade to 5GHz everyone!), the 5 GHz operation of the router is awesome.

I was looking for a WIFI extender in my house and could not be happier with my experience with this product. The set up was easy and user friendly and complements my Airport Extreme nicely. I had a weak spot in my house with the WIFI and now it is gone. If you're looking for a solid WIFI extender, you should consider this one. So far, Apple has been top notch as my router equipment, which makes the price worth it for me.
