I have an Airport Extreme and needed an Airport Express to extend my network. I had the previous Airport Express but wanted the new model - and I love it. Set up took about 4 minutes - my network recognized it immediately. That took about 2 minutes. In two more minutes my network recognized it - and we were up and flying. It takes longer for my computer to boot up :))) Maybe it helps that my equipment is all Apple, and that MIGHT make it work better - but I have nothing to compare it to - but it was slick at a whistle and is performing like a dream. I'd buy it again tomorrow -

Wanted a way for my daughter to stream her music from her Mac, iPad and iPhone to a receiver. Looked for one with built-in AirPlay. In the end, just adding this device to a basic A/V receiver was the cheapest answer and easiest to set up. But I didn't expect it to extend my home network and connect and set up so easily. You get what you pay for I guess.
My daughter is very pleased with the set up in her room now. Book shelf speakers, Sony receiver and the Express. Simple and she can stream her music from any device.

Airport Express: Easy set-up and works great!

As an "Apple Fan" I was looking for a simple router that could extend the wi-fi signal of my base router station, so I could improve the signal throughout my home, and the Airport Express does this beautifully.
I really like the easy set-up (you can do it from your Airport Utility on your Mac, or from the Airport Utility app on your iPhone/iPad) and in under 3 minutes you can set everything up: extend your wi-fi, create a Guest wi-fi network, connect a speaker and set up some simple security features.
Please note that you can only set this device up if you have an Apple product (Mac, iPhone, iPad, etc.): if you dot have an Apple device, then refrain from purchasing this router.
Pros: Easy set-up; easy admin from your iPhone/Mac; elegant design; works well.
Cons: Does not have 802.11ac (only supports a/b/g/n); simple admin counter weighs the possibility of adding filters or configuring advance features (like NAT, opening ports, etc.)

Bought this with an AirPort Extreme to replace 2 linksys N series routers and now I have better signal throughout my whole house, even eliminated a netgear extender and still way better signal. I was worried this wouldn't be powerful enough to replace one of my routers and would need 2 AirPort Extremes but that was not the case. So glad I saved the $80 and didn't buy 2 extremes. I almost did but the sales girl said with my extender I should be fine and like I said I don't even use the extender any more with better results.

Best for All-Apple System ONLY

I went to my local Best Buy store to pick up a Netgear repeater, but was talked into buying the Airport Express by an Associate, who convinced me it would be better/faster etc for my application. He was wrong. AE is designed specifically to extend/supplement an existing all-Apple system and does not play well with hardware and firmware from other manufacturers. In fact, it will NOT WORK AT ALL as a true wireless repeater unless you want to extend an Airport Extreme network. I've wasted hours on this thing, trying to get it to work. Tomorrow I will exchange it for the $70 repeater I originally went in for.

Awesome Little Unit

I have this router in a coat closet downstairs at my house. The signal is more than strong enough to reach across the street if necessary. Like all of Apple's products, the build quality is fantastic and I have had no issues. I have approximately 10 devices simultaneously connected wirelessly in my house and have never experienced any degradation in signal quality.

Love it, easy to set up.
We needed another router to get better whole house coverage. We had originally purchased a Netgear for this. After over an hour of frustration trying to get the Netgeaer onto our existing network, we gave up on it and exchanged for the Airport Express.
Using our mac, we had this up and running in about 5 minutes. Whole house coverage, one subnet, all computers can see each other no matter which router they are on.
Why no 5th star?
The USB supports only printers. You have to upgrade to the Extreme if you want USB storage support. We thought that lessened the overall value not to mention it's a bit cheesy. Our Cisco supports USB storage so we did not upgrade.

Excellent for Extending Apple Wireless Network

While slightly higher in cost than other solutions, the Apple Airport Express ease of setup and configuration makes it worth the price. I purchased this to act as a "bridge" with my existing Airport wireless router. Plugged in a couple of cables, pressed a few buttons in the software configuration and it was ready to go. Recommended for users of Apple Airport products that want to easily extend their wireless network.

I love this product. It was incredibly easy to set up. It extended my wifi range significantly. Now I have excellent wifi signals everywhere in my house, and even outdoor. No more weak signals or dead zones anywhere in my house and even outdoor. This will be perfect for my iPad, iPod touch and iPhone and watching Hulu, Netflix and Youtube on TVs also. Apple is my favorite brand. No other brands beats Apple.

I use two of these, one of these I had set and configured for normal wireless networking need. Never had an issue or problem.
The other unit is a travel unit that is reconfigured almost every day. This is amazingly easy to do with the Airport utility and not nearly as frustrating os some other manufacturers. I love the small profile for my gig bag and the unit seems very well built and durable.

Great way to extend my wifi

Heard Apple was going to stop making routers.
Since I had been thinking of buying something to extend my Airport Extreme wifi signal into my backyard, I figured I'd buy their Airport Express for $100 as it cost about a much as some other brand wifi extender does. Since I'm an Apple user, I wanted an Apple wifi extender as Apple's equipment is so much easier to understand and work with.
If you want to use it to extend your wifi signal, I would recommend going to Youtube and typing in the search box, HOW TO SET UP AIRPORT EXPRESS TO EXTEND WIFI SIGNAL. There is a video that is 2:18 long that does a better job of explaining how to set up the Airport Express to extend your wifi signal than the instructions that were in the box.
Was talking with the Apple Guy at Best Buy and he was able to find Best Buy still had some new Airport Express which I had to order and have shipped to the store. In fact I might have bought one of the last ones they had!!!
I would absolutely recommend this to a friend!!!

Great as a Print Server

I used this as a print server for several printers. Works perfect, plus it makes your printer an AirPrint printer too. I also use it at home as a router works great! Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some other routers, but it's solid and easy to setup.

My Linksys router died after 3 years. I took a chance on an Apple product not knowing if it would be compatible with our PC-oriented household. It had to be the easiest installation ever. I know network setups have become easier over the years but it was crazy how fast this went. Only took 10 minutes at the max and all computers and wifi devices were up and running.

I use pretty much most aspects of this:
- connection to speakers for music
- USB to printer
- ethernet for a private network
- wireless (obviously)
It works well, easy to set up. Elegant appearance!

I would HIGHLY recommend this product to any at-home user of wifi. This product has not dropped my wifi signal once and I've had it for a couple of months. I've had problems with other routers in the past and was very surprised that this one works so well for me and my family. It is very easy to install and I can manage the settings right from my iPhone!
