Stupidly good audio from a baseball-sized speaker

I've replaced 5 Amazon Echos in our house with ONE HomePod and ONE HomePod mini. The HomePod is set up as a primary soundbar for our TV, the HomePod mini is set up as a mini soundbar on another floor. While you probably could use at least two HomePods or minis to do the surround sound thing - it'd be overkill for our situation. In terms of a smart device, it pairs with everything you'd want in a speaker-style smarthub (Hue lights, automation, HomeHub, etc.) Siri is clear and can hear you clearly, behaves as expected and as well as on your smartphone, and if you're in the Apple ecosystem, this is a must-have. The audio is ridiculously good with plenty of solid bass and clarity in the upper ranges. You can pair it with a modern-update AppleTV (if you try it with an older AppleTV it won't work) and use it as a mini soundbar.

Good sound. Pretty easy to use but not always perfect. Sometimes you will have to repeat functions to get them to work. Biggest flaw, why is it not wireless?!!!

It’s definitely a simpler HomePod. It does sacrifice the loudness of the original HomePod but it’s size makes it so easy to put anywhere and be very unnoticeable. The sound for such a small speaker is great and easily fills up a large living room or even a small house. The sound is clear with very little to no distortion. And the microphones can hear and process commands across the room and at full volume. The only issue i had was a setup issue. Apparently it does not not like being set up with a mesh router system very well. It never finished. I researched it and it’s a issue.all that is needed is turn off wifi temporarily and use your phones hotspot as the internet and the setup breezes through. Then turn back on your wifi. I had no issues since. It works great. I always wanted apple to make a smaller HomePod for every room. And I’m glad they listened

I purchased this with the idea that it would act as alarm clock for me when I decided to take all other electronics out of my bedroom at night. Like anything Apple branded it off course works seamlessly with your iPhone so Siri works great and the “handoff” feature of placing your phone on top of the speaker and then whatever you’re playing starts playing on the speaker also works great. Sound is also surprisingly good for such a small speaker. However, if you’re like me and want to use it as an alarm clock of sorts I would recommend against it. Annoyingly, you can tell Siri to set an alarm and it will, but if I happen to wake up early and want to cancel the alarm, I would have to start talking to Siri and ask to turn the alarm off. No problem if you’re single but if you’ve got someone sleeping next to you then you’re having a conversation that will inevitably wake them up. There’s no way of getting to your iPhone and turning the alarm off on the HomePod specifically. Because of that, I went with Amazon Alexa echo spot which has a digital clock and weather display, Alexa voice recognition to turn an alarm on and the ability to turn the alarm off directly on the unit to or my phone - and it’s $50 cheaper.

The HomePod mini delivers impressive sound quality for its size, truly packing a punch. While it’s not quite as powerful as the regular HomePod, it still offers a rich audio experience. Having it in your room, or pairing two for a stereo setup, creates a cozy, home theater vibe that’s perfect for an apartment.

Great size, it fits almost anywhere, I currently have this one in my bathroom and it’s sound good. Just a couple of things I’ve noticed when I go to change the volume it sometimes disconnects. Not a very big issue.

This is a great little speaker/smart device. Really good sound for such a small footprint. With Siri and Apple HomeKit integrated, it makes for a convenient voice-controlled home. If you use Apple products, everything is connected so you can easily set reminders, add calendar events, check the weather and news, and play music by voice. If you get two, you can set them up as a stereo pair for a well-rounded sound experience.

The HomePod Mini is a great low price entry point from Apple in the smart assist/speaker market. The sound is great for the size, especially when in a stereo pair. I have multiples and find great utility with one as a night stand alarm clock/smart assistant/tv speaker and it has enough volume and quality to fill the room with sound. I love the intercom feature in HomeKit since I’ve added a few of these in the house. In my office I have a stereo pair on my desk and couldn’t be happier with the size and sound quality. I wish Apple had come out with this long before they did, as usual they seemed to have waited until they had it right and not rushed to market... I do not like the power brick (like the iPad Pro) but I understand when considering how small the speaker is and I would prefer not to have the added bulk to the speaker.

Really enjoying this product! The set up is crazy easy with your iPhone and for a small device the sound is pretty impressive. It doesn’t take up much space and I have it tucked away in the corner of a side table in my living room.

I’m a avid fan of apple products, I have everything except the AirPods Max. So I never owned a smart speaker and when the HomePod came out I didn’t want to pay $350, so I waited and I was able to cop a HomePod Mini. My initial impression wasn’t too good, I almost returned it but I gave it a chance and I like it. The one thing I was taken back by was that it’s not wireless, it has a cord (what isn’t wireless in 2021?) this thing. Despite that small hiccup, I do enjoy being able to tell Siri what to do, I like not having to burn my phone or iPad out playing music. I can just tell Siri to play certain things without running the battery down. I have a Beats Pill and I love that but that strictly a speaker (great sound) but I just love this little speaker. So overall it’s not bad for the price, the sound quality is decent and I’m sure if you have two it’s even better. But I do like it, they are more features in the Home App. I guess once I maximize all of its potential I can honestly say it’s a 5/5 but for now I give her a solid 4/5 stars. Worth the money or at least a try.

Beautiful design (as expected by Apple), great quality sound, easy to use and it easily pairs with another unit. Siri's smart capabilities still have a ways to go but as far as sound quality is concerned, I think Apple is leading the pack.

I love this speaker. It’s convenient and small and has a nice style. It is easy to talk to Siri from across the room. Or even when loud music is playing. They are also pretty loud for their size. I have 5 in all and may get one more

We wanted to ditch Amazon & remove Alexa from our house which meant switching to Home Assistant with Siri for voice control. We usually have Macbooks, iphones, apple watches or ipads around but for those times we dont, 2 HomePods have replaced the 10 Echo devices. With a single homepod on each level of the home were able to give voice commands from anywhere. These little things have a surprisingly big sound for their tiny form factor. Highs are crisp and lows are far fuller and more present than id expected. Theyre not going to rival our Sonos system but theyre a great entry level solution for multi room audio playback.

I absolutely love my original HomePod (the big one), so when Apple released the mini, figured it would be great to have additional wireless speakers to place wherever and try out a multi-room audio experience. The sound quality is surprisingly good considering how small they are! Comparable bluetooth or smart speakers I have heard sound like they're going to blow up when they get close to reaching their upper volume limit, but the HomePod minis have barely any distortion at their highest output! They can get really loud too! The bass is present, but not room-vibrating, and the sound is very balanced. I use a pair of HomePod minis connected to my Apple TV and the audio sounds great for casting music or watching TV. Since these are purely wireless speakers (there are no inputs other than the attached power cable), I have fairly frequently had issues with audio cutouts or lag when casting music through Airplay. Sometimes the music just stops completely and starts playing through my phone instead. Not a super seamless experience, but could come down to router issues. There are times when I cannot even select the speakers because they disappear from my Airplay menu, even though I am connected to the same Wifi network they are on. Important note too – If you can't cast audio through Apple's Airplay protocol (so basically only through Apple Devices), you won't be able to get these to work – they lack bluetooth audio functionality! Plus, Siri is not very helpful when asking for requests. I would say 60% of the time it will be able to 1. Recognize what I say and 2. be able to do the request I asked. Lots of "hmmm, I'm not quite sure" or "could you say that again?" responses. After a couple of years of software updates, you would think the experience would be slightly better, but smart home assistants still have a lot of evolving to do. They still don't work well with music streaming services other than Apple Music (at least when asking to play a certain song or artist), so that is a continuous burden since I do not use Apple's services. For these reasons, I basically only use these for the purpose of listening to music or casting through my Apple TV audio. They sound great, but there are a lot of software optimizations that need to be made for these to work as seamlessly as they are advertised to.
