HomePod, Personally Better than the Echo Dot

Sound quality is good, but the volume level could be higher for open or large rooms. I was under the impression that you could stream the same music across multiple apple devices, such as listen to apple music on the HomePod and Apple TV at the same time, you can not. You can only listen on multiple HomePods. Love the feature of being able to intercom in the house and from outside the house. The ability use the same features as your phone without your phone in the room is extremely handy. My only real two complaint is that the cord is permanently attached, it would be nice to have the ability to lengthen the cord for optimum placement in the room and the ability to add an auxiliary cord so you could add it to a home theater amp.

Very easy to setup. Excellent sound quality for a device this size. Cannot use Spotify with your voice commands. But will play if you start it from your phone first. Hoping Apple and Spotify will get this issue resolved in a future update.

I love this speaker a lot. The Hey Siri detection is second to absolutely nothing thanks to those much-vaunted "beamforming" microphones, which also make phone calls nice and clear even if you're 30 feet away speaking at a normal volume. But most importantly, the sound is wonderful for its size and great for really anything. It's a punchy little speaker with outsize bass that handles anything you can throw at it. Like other reviewers have said, Apple did a great job of tuning this speaker to communicate the intent of anything it plays, so aggressive music will make you angry and calm, beautiful music will bring a tear to your eye. It goes extremely loud with no distortion and the "tunes itself to your surroundings" part of the sound is really everything it says it is. It sounds huge and fills up rooms if placed correctly and you'll really never get any "meh" sound out of it. However, you are essentially required to have Apple Music to get the most out of it, and not owning an iPhone will mean that you just bought a very nice piece of useless decor, as you won't even be able to set it up without an iOS device (sorry, Mac owners, you can only play to the speaker and control the queue once you've initialized it with an iOS device.) You can airplay to it using your phone if you're a Spotify kind of person, but it's a little lamer as you can't ask Siri to play music from Spotify or any other service. One last thing: I have had some glitches with it where it won't play music from the HomePod, it will only allow you to airplay and everything else acts like it's playing but immediately shut off. I contacted Apple and was immediately escalated past senior support up to what was basically the HomePod team, and my advisor told me that it was a known issue and it was being worked on, with a fix anticipated in the next update. Given that the next update is hotly anticipated (as it's going to include AirPlay 2 and multi-room sound as well as HomePod pairing), I can't wait. Other than that, not a bad word to say about this thing. I adore it in Space Grey, and smudge it in White. I've definitely gotten my money's worth!

I love apple products and this one looked so cool and hen it launched that I had to have one and try it out... I was disappointed to see that it was not wireless. My kid is a wiz with Bluetooth speakers so I had her pair her device with the product. The music would stop when she would text people back, and I had trouble removing her paired device to sync my own device with it. Otherwise the sound was good, the design looks sleek and the size is convenient, but I would not recommend this product at this time.

Great Speaker, especially if you are already in the Apple ecosystem! Third HomePod speaker purchased in 5 years, this one for the kitchen. Love how I can have one playing or multiples to fill the whole house.

I had high hopes and was kind of let down. Don’t get me wrong, the speaker sounds great for its size! You can hear the base and the volume goes up extremely high. Siri stays on the entire time the speaker is plugged in... my problem is related to the connection to my phone. This speaker picks and chooses when it wants to connect to my phone. I have the latest iPhone, latest update, etc. this thing just has a mind of its own. To avoid me throwing it out of the window, sometimes I just have to unplug it for awhile and walk away. Despite this, I love how attentive Siri is no matter how far away you are and that Pandora can be used if you choose.

Okay we bought two of these little speakers. Let me tell you about the sound. Amazing! Our two daughters love these things. They sound so good for the size. I couldn’t believe my ears. They don’t distort when you turn them up. Oh man can they get loud. You would think that something this small couldn’t produce such crazy loud sound but it does. Now if you’re looking for crazy base, of course these are not the ones. What I can say is that I love the true detailed sound that these speakers produce. Very clear, clean and loud sound. I love them and will be going back to buy more for the other rooms in the house.

When they said this was a mini HomePod, they truly meant a MINI! It’s so small but packs a lot of power. Small, compact, super easy to program and the audio gets pretty loud for the size. The only complaint is the fact it is wired.

Love the HomePod mini. Set up was very simple, sound is good and size is perfect. Very disappointed in how Best Buy packaged it in a large box with absolutely no padding or protection so it can just bounce around. Luckily it was ok.

HomePod Mini The HomePod mini is a decent item. The sound is cool for the size. I like the ability to hand off music from the iPhone to the HomePod. The Siri feature isn’t that great, though. I feel that Siri on the HomePod mini is limited and can’t do most thing that Siri can do on the iPhone. BestBuy As far as gettin the item from BestBuy, I originally bought a white one in early December as open box in “excellent” condition but the device came with a very strong perfume or, believe it or not, Raid smell. I know Raid sounds weird but it reminded me of that smell; very chemically or fabricated. I was disappointed that the item came that way being that it was listed as excellent. That wasn’t excellent at all. I ended up exchanging it a month later when new HomePod minis were available.

I have a BenQ 4K monitor that i was using for gaming and well I upgraded to a BenQ Mobiuz and couldn’t just sit the old one to the side and figured why not make it a TV/Computer monitor. Then i realized i could really hear anything since the old BenQ didn’t have speakers (well not good ones) and never really noticed since i always had headphones on when gaming. Anyway I saw these lil beauties (HomePod mini and the big one) and figured why not connect it to the Apple TV for surround sound and boom situation fixed. Also i can have it outside for cookout and family get together. The sound is amazing and that’s the mini. The big one? Omg my neighbors had to ask me to turn it down lol.

The HomePod mini gets the job done even though it doesn't have heavy bass, the sound is very clean and pleasant. It's easy to pair with the iPhone and stream with any music app. The sound goes out in 360 degree direction which encompasses evenly across the room or living space. I don't have to worry about turning it on because it's ready to play audio anytime I need to stream to it. It's a great small speaker for the price that replaced my older speakers that were cheaper and had distorted bass. It's perfect for an apartment, small room or dorm setting for a clean sound.

Great speakers for AppleTv. Using them in a bedroom and they work great. They aren’t room shakers but they are very clear and deliver more than you would think them capable of. Especially for the price. Only note I would give is apparently they only work as a pair if your AppleTv is connected to the wifi. I previously had mine hardwired but they would not connect right until i switch to wifi and they instantly worked

I have purchased two Home Pod minis from Best Buy. Overall, very happy with the product. The Home Pod mini works very well with my iPhone, which is the primary device I use. The Home Pod mini can function on its own as it were. It will just play songs in a certain genre independent of what is playing on your iphone. Two Home Pod minis can work together with your iphone. This can be very convenient. What disappointed me is that two Home Pod minis cannot serve with your laptop. I don't know why Apple could not get this to work. I think there is some sort of a fix, but it is not intuitive.

This little speaker has fantastic sound! I am using it in the master bathroom. Even at a lower volume setting the sound fills the space. I can hear the music even while in the shower. It's very simple to use. I held my iPhone next to it and the setup was automatic. Since I have Apple Music subscription it plays whatever I tell it to play. Also, if I walk into the bathroom with my iPhone already playing something, such as music or audiobook, I just hold the phone above this speaker and the content transfers to the speaker and start playing there. Very satisfied. I order more for the house.

Best virtual assistant if you’re an apple fan! I’ve had and tried amazons Alexa and googles Home and when I say that both of those were the worst that I’ve ever used I mean it! Both of them have a deaf fit where you can scream at the top of your lungs for them and they will never turn on but the video ur watching is at 2 volume and it says hey David and it goes off. The only good thing about both of those were the apps the user interface was nice and the customizability was really nice. But what good are those if the thing can’t hear you half the time. This HomePod not only is it loud the sound quality is beautiful but it can hear you ALWAYS you can whisper you can yell you can even be downstairs and it upstairs and it will HEAR YOU. It is extremely responsive to your questions to your demands to turning on and off smart devices. It is and should be the center of your home the base station because it works so well! And not only that but it is also very aesthetically pleasing it’s not terrible to look at whatsoever. It has nice features like if you have audio on your phone playing u can either just go to ur control center and put it on it, or my favorite way just walk up to it and hold ur phone above it and it connects instantly to your audio. I also really love how when you are playing audio on it and you get it’s attention it just lowers the audio while still playing it, it’s just a nice touch and seems seamless. It’s definitely the best virtual assistant around and should be your number one pick.
