Was tired of Alexa pushing things to sell. I had the original echo. The sound from the little speaker is very good. Cannot handle as complex of requests like Alexa can, but it doesn't try to push things too me.

    The best cheap speaker setup

A stereo pair of these is about the best speaker setup one can get for $200. They sound good for the price but will not be impressing very many. Admittedly, they don’t sound as good as a single original HomePod, but for $200 I can’t much complain. This is the only use for HomePods (original or mini)— they are speakers with huge limitations. Audio aside, as a smart speaker they’re indeed pretty bad, hence four stars and not five. Siri is a chore to interact with and struggles with even official HomeKit accessories (Phillips Hue comes to mind). As a pure speaker they’re also lacking, having no wired or Bluetooth options. Airplay is vastly better for audio quality but AudioOS 15.1 introduced speaker failure while using Airplay, and non-Apple devices won’t play nice. Long term support is poor. The original HomePod was discontinued and had a hardware flaw causing many to break entirely mere years in with no repair options. Non-Apple speakers typically last at least a decade, so this is disappointing and makes for a spotty investment. Approach with caution, I bought them as quasi-disposables and won’t be too upset if they break.

Excellent sound quality. Easy to use. I have two hooked up to my Apple TV and love steaming music and phone calls to them from my laptop or phone. Super easy to set up and use.

Bought these in a pair for my parents living room. I will say In a big room they can feel a tad quiet for movies paired with the Apple TV. Since the others are discontinued these will do. Would be perfect for a room. Siri is nice. They’re easy to use for my parents.

It surprised my family at not only how great the Homepod Mini sounds but how loud it was as well. We were so impressed we bought a second.

Amazing, amazing sound! My family absolutely loves the HomePods, as we now have three and will probably buy one or two more once they go on sale again. The sound is amazing and fills the room easily, And the bass that comes off this thing is incredible. Having Siri Incorporated into the speaker only makes things better. Being able to get voice commands through using HomeKit makes life so much easier. Our speakers are used constantly between music, commands, updates on the weather and more. Wow they are not cheap like the echo, they are made for top quality sound which they deliver. I truly feel the HomePod is one of my best purchases in a long time.

Excellent! Love the new smaller HomePod mini, these are perfect for bedrooms and even the bathroom with their compact size. More the one in a room can create a speaker pair with phenomenal sound and when paired with an Apple TV get the perfect surround sound for all your tv shows.

I am a heavy Apple user so everything integrates nicely and is very easy to set up and control. I was able to connect and control all my LIFX bulbs quickly and LOVE being able to just say to turn on and off certain lights. If you have Apple Music, it is great because you can ask it to play songs, identify songs by lyrics, and add to your personal library or playlist. I think it sounds better than all of the other smart speakers and has a sleek and slim design. It isn’t the smartest speaker compared to others and is very limited on answers when asking questions that are not music related. Overall, I am satisfied with the speaker since I use it mostly for the music and podcasts and leave the heavy searching for my phone or iPad.

The main reason I purchased this, was so that I could speak out loud within a room and activate various HomeKit automations via "Hey Siri" commands. I have one by my entrance door so that when I come home I can speak "Hey Siri, I'm home." and all my lights turn on. I have the other in my bedroom so when I say "Hey Siri, goodnight." All my lights turn off. I would say it works 90% of the time, and is a lot easier than speaking into my phone or watch. The speaker is more sensitive than you would think and I don't have to speak loudly or even directly at it. I just have to make sure that I enunciate and not mumble. As an audio speaker by itself, I would say it's a 4/5. But for it's size you're not going to get optimal bass or amazing sound quality. But definitely good sound for it's size. Overall, I would say that if already have a number of Apple devices and services, this is easily the best option.

Very handy to be able to have everything tie together. Audio is great for the size and its cool to be able to stream audio from the apple tv to the HomePod. I am planning on buying a couple more.

Bought one when it was on sale for $199 to go with another that I paid full price to create a stereo pair. The sound is great with one and amazing when you pair them. I’m using them in a master bedroom and they fill the whole room. Bass is great and there is no true sweet spot, the whole room becomes the sweet spot. Siri always can here you even when the music is cranked up. Also love how hand off works. I can be playin music on my iPhone then hold the phone over a HomePod and the music transfers like magic to the stereo pair homepods.

Added this to my smart home. It easily competes with the full sized homepod and a much better price! Sound is top notch and is able to do all functions of the fullsize. You could have 3 of these for the price of the original one, way better overall sound with triple the units.

I am not going to fully repeat the positive reviews, they are right.. amazing sound, adapts to the room, phenomenal ability to hear your voice commands over any volume of music, easy to set up, easy to operate. Much better than Alexis in that regard, and better sound than Sonos. The haters are also right. They are they ones that give it 1 star and have not actually even heard the product. But they are right, it doesn't works with Android (only Apple Products), its NOT a bluetooth come one come all speaker, its NOT cheap (quality costs), and its NOT stereo. It was designed to be NONE of those. So yeah if you are going to hate something for things it was never designed to do.. without even hearing it.. go for it. I wish I had enough money to put one in every room.

Awesome sound in such a small package — I've replaced my Sonos Play 1 with this HomePod mini for everyday music and radio listening — so much more convenient to control by voice (Siri) and perfect HomeKit integrations.

Pit Bull’s bark packaged in a Yorkie’s body

When you initially hold it for the first time you almost feel like it’s a joke but as it immediately pairs with your phone and delivers impressively filling the room with sound. The first thing that comes to mind in comparison is if you were to see a cute little Chihuahua expecting to sound annoyingly yippy but then surprised you by having the bark of a German Shepherd. It leaves something to be desired in the lower frequencies and lacks that deep punchy bass you get with the OG’s, but for the price you get every penny’s worth and then some. Although Siri has noticeably improved over the last few updates, she can be a bit irritating in consistency, again worth the price paid in user data Privacy policies that Apple has shown to be the gold standard for in protecting. If you have an iPhone 6s or newer and ever listen to music in your home, especially in the kitchen while cooking, it’d be silly to consider anything else in the <$100 price range.

Excellent Sound Quality, Replaced My Soundbar

I have beed using this speaker daily since it first came out. Let me just start by saying that the sound quality is amazing! Even to this day there are times that I am just blown away at how clear and crisp the music comes out. The one thing that I really like and haven't seen in other reviews, is the use of home pod to replace my sound bar and subwoofer. I found myself constantly adjusting the volume up and down through different scenes with the soundbar. The home pod has solved this problem. Easily works with the apple TV, producing very clear and balanced audio. If you use an Apple TV and subscribe to apple music then home pod is a must have!
