    Great Device for the Price

I bought the mini as an accessory to the full size HomePod. For this purpose it is a great device, especially since I have several other devices integrated through the Apple Home app. It has decent sound and voice recognition ability. With another home pod connected, it can be sync together to play audio or use as an intercom system in the home. However, I would not recommend it as a substitute for a quality sound bar or Bluetooth speaker especially since it must be plugged into an outlet to maintain power. Also, the full size HomePod is far superior in sound quality albeit at a higher price point. With that said, for the price this is a good purchase if you want added Apple integration on a budget.

Smaller size doesn't mean smaller sound

For it being as small as it is, the sound quality is great! Obviously it's slightly diminished from the larger HomePod, but for the smaller $99 price tag this is a great entry level HomeKit smart speaker.

I purchased a pair of Homepods for my living room and set them up as a stereo pair. . I was surprised at just how good the Homepods were as a stereo pair ,the stereo effect is natural and clearly audible. the bass from the Homepods is solid and substantial, though in my opinion it is not over done. Ease of setup is notable and straightforward. Siri obeys my voice commands quite well. I did not purchase these for their smart speaker features as there are other smart speakers that do a better job in that area. However, for music, it is hard to beat the Homepods and I am very much enjoying them.

I bought one of these to listen to music and use with my apple tv. It sounded great, nice bass and sounds better than my wireless bose. I just bought a second one and use them as a stereo pair and WOW they sound even better. Siri seems to be able to understand all my commands, even quiet commands from across the room. They are plenty loud enough for me and better yet with no distortion.

Perfect mini speaker! Definitely worth the price! Honestly cheap for an Apple product. Can connect to tv and speaker simultaneously, has amazing sound, bass and very loud!

When the HomePod came out I was a bit skeptical, especially at it's normal price point. But this is now my third that I have purchased. I bought this one for use in my guest bedroom. The other two are in the Master Bedroom and my office at work. Hands down, the sound quality cannot be beat by anything else in this size package. I was blown away by the quality. It's got enough volume for listening to music in almost any situation. It's perfect for a bedroom or office. For outdoor use or larger party environments there are some larger speakers from Sony I'd recommend... but for just wanting some great sounding music and the ease of saying "Hey Siri, play me some..." it can't be beat. Setup is the easiest of ANY smart speaker I've used IF you're in the Apple ecosystem. I have Google smart speakers and/or displays in every room room of my house and all my lighting is Philips Hue. The HomePod was by far the easiest to setup. And although Siri is not as "smart" as Google Assistant, the microphone quality on the HomePod is far better at catching commands from a distance, and I get far fewer errors with the HomePod. Often times my other smart speakers don't hear me without shouting, or they hear something different than what I said. The HomePod hears me every time and more accurately, even with music at a fairly loud volume, than any other smart speaker I've used. So although Siri can't do as much as Google Assistant, when I interact with my smart speakers in my home, I much prefer interacting with the HomePod. And setup was so much easier (if you're already an Apple user). I do plan on replacing all my other smart speakers in every room with HomePods when my budget permits me to do so.

    The mini boom boom

I have a BenQ 4K monitor that i was using for gaming and well I upgraded to a BenQ Mobiuz and couldn’t just sit the old one to the side and figured why not make it a TV/Computer monitor. Then i realized i could really hear anything since the old BenQ didn’t have speakers (well not good ones) and never really noticed since i always had headphones on when gaming. Anyway I saw these lil beauties (HomePod mini and the big one) and figured why not connect it to the Apple TV for surround sound and boom situation fixed. Also i can have it outside for cookout and family get together. The sound is amazing and that’s the mini. The big one? Omg my neighbors had to ask me to turn it down lol.

Remains a standard setting for compact audio fidelity. Great mic pick-up too for voice commands. If/when Siri becomes more functional for advanced tasks, this hardware will be a great combo.

Very easy to setup. Excellent sound quality for a device this size. Cannot use Spotify with your voice commands. But will play if you start it from your phone first. Hoping Apple and Spotify will get this issue resolved in a future update.

    Great, Ecosystem-Locked Sound

I love this speaker a lot. The Hey Siri detection is second to absolutely nothing thanks to those much-vaunted "beamforming" microphones, which also make phone calls nice and clear even if you're 30 feet away speaking at a normal volume. But most importantly, the sound is wonderful for its size and great for really anything. It's a punchy little speaker with outsize bass that handles anything you can throw at it. Like other reviewers have said, Apple did a great job of tuning this speaker to communicate the intent of anything it plays, so aggressive music will make you angry and calm, beautiful music will bring a tear to your eye. It goes extremely loud with no distortion and the "tunes itself to your surroundings" part of the sound is really everything it says it is. It sounds huge and fills up rooms if placed correctly and you'll really never get any "meh" sound out of it. However, you are essentially required to have Apple Music to get the most out of it, and not owning an iPhone will mean that you just bought a very nice piece of useless decor, as you won't even be able to set it up without an iOS device (sorry, Mac owners, you can only play to the speaker and control the queue once you've initialized it with an iOS device.) You can airplay to it using your phone if you're a Spotify kind of person, but it's a little lamer as you can't ask Siri to play music from Spotify or any other service. One last thing: I have had some glitches with it where it won't play music from the HomePod, it will only allow you to airplay and everything else acts like it's playing but immediately shut off. I contacted Apple and was immediately escalated past senior support up to what was basically the HomePod team, and my advisor told me that it was a known issue and it was being worked on, with a fix anticipated in the next update. Given that the next update is hotly anticipated (as it's going to include AirPlay 2 and multi-room sound as well as HomePod pairing), I can't wait. Other than that, not a bad word to say about this thing. I adore it in Space Grey, and smudge it in White. I've definitely gotten my money's worth!

Great Entry Point into Apple Ecosystem

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've had the big Homepod for a few years now and love it, so comparing the Homepod Mini to it is not really fair but that's my main point of reference. The Mini puts out decent sound but is a litte "tinny" in any larger room and not mind blowing. Works best in a smaller bedroom and benefits from being in a corner to get better bass, and as such I think the main use for the Mini is to add music and Siri to more rooms in your house or as your first entry point into the Apple ecosystem if you already have iPhone/Mac or Homekit devices in your life. Obviously Apple Music is the perfect match for this. Sometimes the larger Homepod goes on sale for $200, and I would rather have that deal than two $99 Homepod minis personally. Finally a little nit-pick, the wall plug for the gray Mini is white (see photo) which is a minor detail, but would awesome if it matched the gray. All in all a nice addition if you're in the Apple eco system.

Great price for what you're getting. I couldn't justify getting the larger HomePod and this is perfect. Small enough to not stand out but can still get pretty loud if you plan to use it as a speaker/intercom in your house. I've used Amazon Alexa previously and this is much nicer.

When they said this was a mini HomePod, they truly meant a MINI! It’s so small but packs a lot of power. Small, compact, super easy to program and the audio gets pretty loud for the size. The only complaint is the fact it is wired.

Love the HomePod mini. Set up was very simple, sound is good and size is perfect. Very disappointed in how Best Buy packaged it in a large box with absolutely no padding or protection so it can just bounce around. Luckily it was ok.

Great speakers for AppleTv. Using them in a bedroom and they work great. They aren’t room shakers but they are very clear and deliver more than you would think them capable of. Especially for the price. Only note I would give is apparently they only work as a pair if your AppleTv is connected to the wifi. I previously had mine hardwired but they would not connect right until i switch to wifi and they instantly worked

This little speaker has fantastic sound! I am using it in the master bathroom. Even at a lower volume setting the sound fills the space. I can hear the music even while in the shower. It's very simple to use. I held my iPhone next to it and the setup was automatic. Since I have Apple Music subscription it plays whatever I tell it to play. Also, if I walk into the bathroom with my iPhone already playing something, such as music or audiobook, I just hold the phone above this speaker and the content transfers to the speaker and start playing there. Very satisfied. I order more for the house.

Apple HomePod mini – My Honest Thoughts

So, I’ve been using the Apple HomePod mini for a little while now, and honestly? I’m kind of impressed. It’s small, it’s cute, and it sounds way better than I expected from something that could literally fit in the palm of your hand. Sound Surprises Me (in a Good Way) Let’s start with the sound. For such a tiny speaker, the audio is really nice. The bass won’t shake your walls or anything, but the vocals and overall clarity are super crisp. Whether I'm playing chill music while working or something upbeat while cleaning, it fills the room with rich, clean sound. Looks Great Anywhere It’s got this soft mesh fabric and a simple, round design that just blends into any space. I’ve got mine on a shelf and it looks great — not flashy, just clean and modern. Siri & Apple Magic If you’re already using an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, this little thing just clicks into place. I ask Siri to play music, check the weather, set timers, or control the lights in my place, and it just works. I especially love the “Handoff” feature — when I walk in listening to music on my iPhone, I can bring it close to the HomePod and the music moves over. It feels like tech magic. Setup Was Super Easy Honestly, it took maybe a minute to set up. I plugged it in, held my iPhone nearby, followed a couple prompts, and that was it. A Few Little Limits It’s definitely made for Apple users — if you use Android or Spotify (without AirPlay), you might feel a bit left out. And Siri isn’t quite as “clever” as Alexa or Google Assistant yet, but she handles the basics just fine. Final Verdict If you’re already in the Apple world and want a stylish smart speaker with surprisingly great sound, I’d totally recommend the HomePod mini. It’s affordable, works like a charm, and adds a touch of smart convenience to your space.
