This purchase was two units, my 2nd and 3rd. I decided to add a couple of rooms. Nice to have the option of syncing across rooms. The sound for the size is still amazing, this makes them very easy/flexible to locate. We have one on top of a kitchen cabinet. Even when playing loudly or with other noise in the room Siri can hear a command given in a normal voice.

Consistent with the YouTube reviews I watched, the sound quality of this thing is way above any other smart speaker of the same size. You can absolutely use this in a bedroom/bathroom/kitchen to play music while you are going about your day, or take advantage of the other smart features (homekit control, intercom, Siri). It won't replace a true surround-sound setup in a home theater space, but in a smaller room, two of these in stereo paired with an apple TV can make for a massive sound upgrade over built-in TV speakers.

The HomePod mini was a good addition to my barracks room. I bought 2 so I could try out the dual speaker feature, which works well. I had a few issues with the initial setup in the Home app but it seemed to have worked itself out. The HomePods though seemed to disconnect from my WiFi while I was away for 2 weeks and there was no other way to fix that in the Home app other than rest my HomePods completely and re-add them. Hopefully this will be an issue that will be fixed with future updates of the Home app as well as the HomePod mini. Overall, works great. Sound quality is great, not as room filling as the original huge HomePod, but still has superb sound quality for its size.

I have every echo & now the home pod mini. I personally only got this because I now use Apple Music. What I do not like that many may not even care about is that I have so much music that is NOT on Apple music but in my itunes and or on my phone. The only way to hear it is to blue tooth. I hate that but do understand about copyrights. The other thing is that unless my phone is on the same wifi, I can't control it from my phone. That to me is a pain. Hopefully they will change that issue. This has good sound & listens well.

For such a small speaker it’s pretty good ... it’s not a pair of PureAudioProject Quintet 15’s, but sound is good and it ramps up smoothly. Siri does what it’s supposed to do - it’s an assistant, not a know it all. Pairing it to an AppleTV in the basement to supplement the crappy speakers of my 6 year old Vizio TV is why I bought it. Music and dialog are above average, and being able to place it close to a couch keeps volume to a minimum in the mornings not to wake everyone up. Should have bought 2 for a stereo pair.

First I want to say that I am happy with my purchase. The HomePod is a good sounding and reasonably competent smart speaker. I purchased this on Black Friday and at that price I think this was a fair deal. The things that stop this from being a 5 star review are as follows: The reviews I read stated this as the best sounding smart speaker and this may be true, but in my opinion it is not the best sounding portable speaker. I have a Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth speaker that is of smaller form factor that I feel is a better sounding speaker. As a smart speaker, Siri is ok but I have a Google Home Mini that is more competent at internet type questions. I don’t have any smart home devices that Siri or Google can control so I can’t speak to that, but the grand kids have a lot of fun asking Google stupid internet questions that Siri doesn’t handle as well. I have asked questions that Siri did not answer that Google did. It would be nice if the HomePod supported music platforms other than Apple Music like Spotify or Pandora. Now this was not a real issue for me as I had Apple Music for free with my phone service but for other users this may be an issue. Pluses for the HomePod. I would like to mention that the HomePod can answer a phone and do so for multiple users. The Google Home Mini can place an internet call with a predetermined phone number For caller ID but it cannot answer a call to your phone (it can answer duo phone calls). The HomePod can place calls from your phone and answer phone calls to your phone. It does this for multiple users as it determines which phone to use by your voice. I wanted this feature so my wife can answer her phone while being busy in the kitchen which is where our HomePod is setup. Another plus for the HomePod is that setup is so easy. Granted you have to be an iPhone or iPad user but most of the setup is copied from your iPhone or iPad. Things such as WiFi setup and Siri recognizing your voice is all taken from your device.

Being a subscriber to Apple Music, this unit is convenient to have in the home and ask Siri to play just about any song at any time. On the minus side, this unit by no means has the sound quality that the original larger HomePod has. We own one of those as well. The feature where you hold your iPhone to the HomePod, and the HomePod automatically links with the iPhone does not always work. For the money, this is a good value if you are an Apple Music subscriber. Although, I would gladly pay the extra money to be able to buy the original HomePod with its superior sound.

We are using two homepods in stereo with an Apple TV and it sounds great. It isn’t as capable as a higher level soundbar - meaning it’s doesn’t create the wide sound field for movies, but it is decent nonetheless. Where it really excels is with music. These things can get loud and they sound great, however the bass might be too heavy for some people. I like the bass, so no complaints here.
