Sound great, even better as a stereo pair
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one of these to listen to music and use with my apple tv. It sounded great, nice bass and sounds better than my wireless bose. I just bought a second one and use them as a stereo pair and WOW they sound even better. Siri seems to be able to understand all my commands, even quiet commands from across the room. They are plenty loud enough for me and better yet with no distortion.

Was skeptical at first... Love it now!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When the HomePod came out I was a bit skeptical, especially at it's normal price point. But this is now my third that I have purchased. I bought this one for use in my guest bedroom. The other two are in the Master Bedroom and my office at work. Hands down, the sound quality cannot be beat by anything else in this size package. I was blown away by the quality. It's got enough volume for listening to music in almost any situation. It's perfect for a bedroom or office. For outdoor use or larger party environments there are some larger speakers from Sony I'd recommend... but for just wanting some great sounding music and the ease of saying "Hey Siri, play me some..." it can't be beat. Setup is the easiest of ANY smart speaker I've used IF you're in the Apple ecosystem. I have Google smart speakers and/or displays in every room room of my house and all my lighting is Philips Hue. The HomePod was by far the easiest to setup. And although Siri is not as "smart" as Google Assistant, the microphone quality on the HomePod is far better at catching commands from a distance, and I get far fewer errors with the HomePod. Often times my other smart speakers don't hear me without shouting, or they hear something different than what I said. The HomePod hears me every time and more accurately, even with music at a fairly loud volume, than any other smart speaker I've used. So although Siri can't do as much as Google Assistant, when I interact with my smart speakers in my home, I much prefer interacting with the HomePod. And setup was so much easier (if you're already an Apple user). I do plan on replacing all my other smart speakers in every room with HomePods when my budget permits me to do so.

Great, Ecosystem-Locked Sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this speaker a lot. The Hey Siri detection is second to absolutely nothing thanks to those much-vaunted "beamforming" microphones, which also make phone calls nice and clear even if you're 30 feet away speaking at a normal volume. But most importantly, the sound is wonderful for its size and great for really anything. It's a punchy little speaker with outsize bass that handles anything you can throw at it. Like other reviewers have said, Apple did a great job of tuning this speaker to communicate the intent of anything it plays, so aggressive music will make you angry and calm, beautiful music will bring a tear to your eye. It goes extremely loud with no distortion and the "tunes itself to your surroundings" part of the sound is really everything it says it is. It sounds huge and fills up rooms if placed correctly and you'll really never get any "meh" sound out of it. However, you are essentially required to have Apple Music to get the most out of it, and not owning an iPhone will mean that you just bought a very nice piece of useless decor, as you won't even be able to set it up without an iOS device (sorry, Mac owners, you can only play to the speaker and control the queue once you've initialized it with an iOS device.) You can airplay to it using your phone if you're a Spotify kind of person, but it's a little lamer as you can't ask Siri to play music from Spotify or any other service. One last thing: I have had some glitches with it where it won't play music from the HomePod, it will only allow you to airplay and everything else acts like it's playing but immediately shut off. I contacted Apple and was immediately escalated past senior support up to what was basically the HomePod team, and my advisor told me that it was a known issue and it was being worked on, with a fix anticipated in the next update. Given that the next update is hotly anticipated (as it's going to include AirPlay 2 and multi-room sound as well as HomePod pairing), I can't wait. Other than that, not a bad word to say about this thing. I adore it in Space Grey, and smudge it in White. I've definitely gotten my money's worth!

Could care less about the smartness
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have an iPhone this little speaker is for you, if you have a Apple TV this is definitely for you. If you have Apple a Music music subscription, what are you waiting for? I bought one and was amazed at what was coming out of this tiny thing. I was so impressed I went back and got another! Stereo sounds twice as good as one lol. You can even link more then just 2! Set up is stupidly easy. You hold your iPhone above it and it automatically sets up like AirPods do. If they had this for $199 originally I would have gotten it years ago!

Quality Sound!!!!! Solid Smart Speaker,
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I wanted to educate my house and make it a Smart Home (Lol). I researched speakers and found that Alexa and Google were the probably the most popular do to price and ease of use. I don't think Apple pushes this product as much as they should. With that being said, i now have four(4) HomePods throughout my house. I simply say "Hey Siri" and tell her to do something and its done as if it was on my phone or IPad. Controls my Apple TV, Phillips Hue Light Bulbs, Easily connects into the Apple Homekit, as with all Apple products. So my Apple Watch, Earpods, AppleTV, HomePod, and IPad are all synced (as are my entire families devices). The Homepod is your IPhone or IPad without a screen. Instead it has a speaker that has great top of the line sound. Its competing with Bose and Cerwin Vega, What you lack in loud distorted bass. You make for with clean "full" sound. The HomePod still gets pretty loud and the fact that you can sync them to all play the same music from the same device or have each speaker playing different music from different devices makes it even better. The only down side to this speaker is that i needs to be plugged in, but this is not a portable speaker it is a home speaker. Perfect for an Apartment, Dorm, and/or any room in a house. Its an Apple Product and if you like Apple this lives up to Apple Product hype. Again, did i mention i now have four (4).

Great speaker but wait until they are on sale
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a pair of HomePods from Best Buy right before Christmas when they were on sale for $199 apiece. At that price, the ability to play music (directly from Apple Music or via AirPlay from an iPhone or iPod) or sound from an Apple TV more than justified the price for the pair. (I have them set up to play as a stereo pair.) A good stereo would cost as much and saddle me with unsightly speaker wires. And the bass on these is just awesome, particularly when you figure the relatively small size. I liked them enough that a few days after Christmas, I decided to pick up a second pair to use in another room. However, at that point the price had gone up to $300. They are nice speakers but at $200 apiece they are pricey; at $300 apiece they are way overpriced. My advice. Wait until they go on sale for $199 either at Best Buy or at another retailer that Best Buy will price match. As for Siri functionality, I was pleasantly surprised. She can hear me even when the HomePods are playing music pretty loudly. And most of the basic commands I’ve tried work well. Voice control of HomeKit accessories seems brisker than the same command given to Alexa. However, when I ask Siri to turn on a group of lights she does fine but when I ask her to turn off the same group, she replies, “I can’t turn off a scene.” Odd. Where Siri still falls down is on knowledge-based requests. She still tends to want to send you the information as a link to a website you can view on your iPhone or other screen. Since HomePod has no screen, these requests cannot be fulfilled. The basic bottom line is these are great speakers when on sale but overpriced at full price. Smart speaker functionality is getting better all the time but still needs some work. Oh, and you still need an iOS device to set the HomePod up, so if the HomePod is your only Apple device, you’re out of luck,

Great speaker that's not so smart...yet
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HomePod emphasizes sound quality more than smarts. It’s most useful to think of the HomePod primarily as a high-performance wireless speaker that is voice-controlled and to consider its “smart” features as secondary. Audio: Apple stuffed this device with loads of sophisticated audio components—seven tweeters, a high-excursion subwoofer, and six microphones—as well as, to make it all work, one of Apple’s own A8 chips, like those used in iPhones. The result is an excellent deep, rich audio that sounds fantastic. The speaker is easy to set up and effortless to use, as long as you're playing Apple Music. Smart features: You can’t make calls to phones or other HomePods or create calendar appointments, or make use of any of the 15,000-plus smart skills (like games, Uber or Lyft requests, pizza delivery, and more) that have powered the popularity of Alexa or Google Home platform.

Apple HomePod worth every dime!!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had my doubts due to the size and the history apple has had with previous speaker items (beats, apple wired ear buds). But this was on sale and after watching apple reveal the HomePod. I must say it is everything they say it is. Sounds really good, super crisp with no speaker distortion, Great equalization and when you first turn it on to set up the HomePod it measures the sound to fit in the room that you’re going to be playing it in. Also Siri has had a major update with this HomePod system because I can be several feet away and she understands exactly what I ask her to do, if it’s changing the song, changing the volume, Siri is right on it. The HomePod is also great for the hub base along with my iPad. I loved this product so much I bought another one for my work studio and my fellow employees were instantly sold and both went out and bought one for each of there homes. The Apple HomePod is definitely worth every penny if you just want a great sounding stereo that’s even compact. Or a hub to run your smart home features off of this is the way to go.

great sound quality
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality is impressive, great bass, seems to fill a very large space. Easy setup. Can play from desktop, 2 laptops, 2 iPhones. Siri integration is good, Homepod picks up voice commands from almost anywhere in the apartment. Use for music playback, control of smart lighting, kitchen timers, alarms. Happy with the purchase at a great price.

Great for playing music and smart homes
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Believe the hype! This is a great product. Well-designed and high quality. Sound quality is great. I'm not an audiophile, but I will say that the sound coming the speaker is better than my little Bose (not a fair comparison since that one is portable, and the HomePod is not). I've also tested it out using Airplay from my Apple TV and this will provide a slightly deeper and more immersive sound if you place it next to, or behind, the listeners. I'm planning on getting another one eventually to even out the sound on the other side. Siri commands are picked up really well. And now with the last update (13.2.x) it can recognize your voice so that each member of your home can have personalized responses. My wife didn't think we needed one, but now she's hooked and uses it even more than me! So glad I took advantage of the black Friday deal. Looking forward to the next one.

Best Wireless Speaker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the Sonos Play:1,3,5 in my house currently and they don’t have the same crisp quality as the HomePod. I was surprised and not really looking at purchasing it until I read some reviews. At home it’s is very loud and has no issues with low mid and high points at any volume. The Siri assistant is just like the phone can answer basic “Siri stuff” so it’s not Alexa but that’s good for me since I have an Alexa and haven’t used it as much as I thought I would. When the AirPlay 2 comes out this year you’ll be able to group together the speakers and have an options for stereo pairs but for right now it’s great. My favorite thing though is being able to finally AirPlay from my phone or computer without opening an app. If I want to show someone a video or song from anywhere on my phone you just select the HomePod as the output and it goes right to the speaker. Sonos I couldn’t play any sound from my devices to the speaker you always have to use what’s in the app. Lastly Siri can hear you over any volume you have it at with a normal speaking voice. 100% volume and the living room is filled with crisp music and deep base (for the device size and price) just saying “Hey Siri” she will volume down and wait for an input with no effort of raising your voice.

Amazing Sound for Apple Users
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, I want to rave about the amazing audio quality of this tiny speaker. Nothing small about the sound. It outputs a serious, rich bass and fantastic highs, blowing everything out of the water in its competing market in terms of audio quality. I do have a Bose wireless speaker that is also great and while this is wired, it’s incredible. However, the reason for only four stars is its connectivity. I wanted a speaker that anyone in the house could use from their smartphones, but each registered user must have an iTunes account, or use mine. This isn’t a serious issue only because I have an apple desktop and music can be used through my iTunes account. If you already own apple products, you’ll want to spend the little bit extra and purchase this HomePod speaker. It shouldn’t even be a consideration if you use something else. The HomePod functionality is user friendly and works extremely well for dedicated Apple users. I love how music will automatically transfer from my AirPod pros to this HomePod and vice-versa. However, I wish apple would have created a speaker of this caliber that is easily compatible with all devices, not just apple products. It’s slightly annoying.

Amazing
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As with everything Apple, this speaker is awesome. Extremely simple to use. The only controls are on the top of the speaker which is basically tapping it to talk to Siri (you can always just say “Hey Siri”) and there is a + and - to manually control volume. The speaker sounds incredible, rivaling other high end speakers I have. Speakers and microphones are all the way around the speaker, so it literally is 360° sound and listening. All of this is covered in a really cool rubber feeling mesh which gives the HomePod a Modern, non-obtrusive look. Setup is ridiculously simple using the Home app. It works with any HomeKit compatible accessory and others that can be configured with the Apple Shortcuts app. I have been using one and just purchased a second one for another area of the home. Using Airplay2 you can link these for stereo effect and multi room music, which I have not done yet.

Amazing room filling sound from a compact speaker
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome sound that surprises everyone that hears it. When sitting in the middle of a room, it’s sound fills the entire room effortlessly. When placed anywhere in the room, it’s able to push its sound to anywhere in the room. Its has great clarity and the Bass is surprisingly robust for such a small package, especially after the speaker has been broken in properly. Siri is fantastic, able to hear a whisper across the room even when playing music at a loud volume. In fact, it’s hard to say “hey Siri” anywhere in the room quietly enough for it not to hear you. HomeKit works great through it. When watching Apple TV you can have the sound come out of the speaker, which is really cool since it acts as a sound bar would. Great buy that I intend to do again For the Living room and possibly the kitchen as well. Very pleased

Its your typical Apple device (thats a good thing)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lets be honest, by now everyone knows what Apple products do in comparison to other brands. Gorgeous, high-end looks? Check Impressive build quality? Check Restricted ecosystem and connectivity? Check Generally perceived as overpriced? Check The HomePod is designed to be a high quality speaker, and in typical apple fashion, it delivers. The sound quality is AMAZING. I'm truly impressed at the sound quality at lower volumes, especially the bass. The sound is crystal clear and, personally, only disappoints in the higher range frequencies at near full volume (which I only tried just for the sake of finding out, this thing is LOUD) I also use the Siri integration on a daily basis to do things like: Check the weather Toggle lights Control security system Have Siri she cant do something Ive asked on the Homepod. Yea, Siri sucks, but the HomePod is a speaker and excels in being one.

Musical heaven
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Apple HomePod for the kitchen since I recently moved a couple of Sonos ones from the kitchen to rear speakers for my Sonos Arc. The HomePod produces beautiful sound, better than the ones. Every genre I have thrown it has been handled with aplomb. The bass is right without being overwhelming. The treble and mods are clean without being shrill. The highs are perfect. The soft mesh design is aesthetically pleasing and looks sturdy. Siri does it’s job for basic tasks, it is obviously not as good as Alexa or Google assistant. But the mics are terrific however and is the best of all smart speakers I have used. Currently it works best with Apple Music but I believe Spotify support is coming very soon. Overall at $200 this is a smart speaker that can not be beat.

Great Product for Black Friday Sale Price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the HomePod during the Best Buy Black Friday sale for $250. Great quality of sound on a variety of music, I use it constantly since purchase. I have a large basement room and initially tried placing the HomePod in a corner, but finally settled on a location in the middle of the room, from there it gave great sound where ever you are within the room. This is definitely a first generation product, it lags hooking into iTunes on my MacBook Pro, sometimes taking up to 5 minutes to be recognized. It instantly recognizes my iPhone, but has major problems recognizing my iPad Pro. Setup was extremely easy using my iPhone. I have not tried to hook it up with my Apple TV 4K, but see no reason to because my TV system already has a surround system. I do like the AirPlay 2, no latency between speakers if you have more than one speaker playing when using the HomePod.

Love this speaker. I have two so it is stereo.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this speaker. I have two so it is stereo. It is so easy to use over apples AirPlay. through iTunes select your song hit play touch the airplay icon in the right corner comes up forever many of the speakers HomePod you have click one or both or 10 whatever you got and you can set the volume for each one and turn one on or off whatever you like easy Peezy it’s great. no wires to hook up just unboxed it plug it in. I did use the Home app on my iPad and updated the software for the HomePods and that seem to be good too. I can play my iTunes music or my Amazon music as well. On Amazon I had to go to my pulldown menu on the iPad where it said music and then the airplane was there so it was a little different than an iTunes but it works just as easily.
