First, Best Buy staff really knew their stuff. No need to go to the Apple Store (Always a hassle). Just got back from a long vacation and was amazed at all the cords, chargers and gadgets I had to schlep along with me. I was looking to "De-gadget" my life. My Gen 2 iPad was not cutting it anymore. Big difference between Gen 2 and Gen 6. This one is slightly lighter, smaller and thiner so accessories and covers for the Gen 2 didn't fit. Had to buy several new accessories. The battery lasts a very long time and it charges fast (30-45 min). Seamless connection to my home wifi out of the box. So easy to install apps and just plain works flawlessly. Most of my remotes are now in a drawer. I use it now to control my Samsung TV's, Apple TV's all my home security and home automation stuff. For reading I installed the Kindle app. Like the bigger screen. Less page turning but Kindle Paper White still beats the iPad for readability in bright sun. It's just fine though, if you are under good shade. Movies look great and are very smooth. Sound is pretty good both the movie dialog and music (Stereo) seems good enough to leave the phone or iPod and headphones behind for the day. Volume is more than enough. It has a phone jack but I use wireless bluetooth headphones. I have no need for the cellular feature (Use phone hotspot instead) but I can see how that may be useful if you streamed movies over a long time (smartphone battery is the limitation here). Really nice to have a bigger screen to read e-mail, web pages and control equipment versus the tiny phone screen. Camera is really good too. Adequately replaces carrying a phone (Camera) or bulky digital camera. Pictures just pop off the screen they are so clear and upload is seamless. 32gb storage is adequate. With this new iPad I consider my "De-Gageting" effort a success. If I were to purchase another I'd get more storage memory. Pencil works with this model too. Not sure if I'd ever have a use for that. All in all, for the price and all it can do/replaces its well worth it!
