    This is a simple device. Simply plug the lightning end into your iPhone and you now have a 3.5mm (standard) headphone jack to use with traditional earbuds or headphone. I'm very glad that they make this at a reasonable price ($10). Just keep in mind that it uses the only port on an iPhone, so you can't use wired earbuds and charge your phone at the same time using this.
