The Apple adapter for headphones is great! I purchased a second one to have on hand in the car. I have not had a single issue with this adapter!

It connects exactly as expected to the lightning port and the sound quality produced is great. I have tried other non Apple adapters and they are hit and miss. You might as well get the Apple adapter if you need to use regular headphones

Ideally, I would not need this but since I want to use some older earbuds when working outside, this really works.

Bought this to have an extra adapter on hand. I just leave them on my headphones and VR goggles rather than constantly switching them. Solves the problem.
