The lightning end of the aftermarket adapters had a sloppy fit in the port. One fell right out. They both lost connection at the slightest movement. The cost of the two adapters I tried exceeded the cost of the Apple one, so why bother searching around ? It is false economy trying to go cheaper for certain items and I think this is one of those cases.
