I am not sure what the issue was, but I ended up using an $8.00 adapter I got previously. May work for you, but not me.

Didn't work for me

Also, as usual for an Apple proprietary piece of equipment, it was very expensive in my opinion.

It allows me to use my tablet to play videos on a projector for my students. But, at 50 dollars, it is a bit pricey for a simple little connector.

Good for viewing iPhone or iPad on VGA display
