It was just what I wanted - compact, easy to use and easy to set up. This is my second mac - an Apple computer is my favorite.

Let me start out by saying how insanely overpriced this item is. I only purchased this Macbook when it was a $300 off sale, AND I bought an "open box" one that gave me another $140 off the original new price. This laptop is not for heavy gaming or video editing. This really reminds me of what a Chromebook should be. It's great for streaming video, browsing the internet, and writing emails. You're probably asking, "Isn't that what a Chromebook is for?" The answer is yes. The only real difference is the beautiful Retina display and the fact that you can actually download programs to this machine, unlike a Chromebook. I am able to play Minecraft, SimCity, and Sims 3 & 4 with no issues on about medium settings. I wouldn't recommend playing any more graphics intensive games than that. I love the trackpad, and I'm slowly getting used to the odd "Butterfly switch" keyboard. It's a transition, but I don't think it's as bad as some people are making it out to be. The backlighting looks fantastic, and is an overall good experience, it's just an adjustment from any other keyboard you may be acclimated to. Now on the infamous "single port". I had a hard time paying the money for this machine knowing it only had one port, and in order to expand that, I needed to purchase a nearly $80 adapter from Apple. The way I've worked around this is by buying a USB mouse. That is the main thing that I would use a USB port for, and once I got the mouse, I hardly even noticed the lack of ports. I may find a need for more ports in the future, but at that point, I'll just use my old Toshiba that had all the ports I could ask for. The battery life isn't the 10 hours that Apple claims, but it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 6-8 depending on what you're doing at the time. All in all, I would recommend this machine, but only if you know exactly what you're getting yourself into. Don't expect a powerhouse machine that is going to be able to play Fallout 4 and edit your 4K videos. Just think of this as a glorified web browser, and you won't be disappointed.

Bought it as a gift. It was time to upgrade and decided this was the best match for what it will be used for. The price was definitely a grabber since apple products don't usually offer grand discounts
