Apple has a broad range of portable and desktop computers to fill varying needs of the user. The 12-inch Macbook fills the needs of someone that is looking for a very portable but capable device for email, web browsing, as well as office needs using Microsoft Office or the Apple suite. The Macbook is well configured with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD which seem to complement the Intel-M processor providing long battery life. One should be aware that there are only 2 ports on this Macbook, a USB-C connector for charging and interface to other devices through adapters and the 3.5mm audio port. The USB-C connection is only a miner limitation as connection to the internet, printing, and system backup (Time Machine) can be easily configured over wifi.

What can I say, I love this machine. The first apple product I bought was the iPhone 3g. I was 25 and I thought I had fallen in love. The Macbook 2015 has produced those exact same feelings. I love this machine. When best buy offered their sale I just had to jump on it. The Macbook was finally priced at a price point that I agreed with. I got the base model simply because all I need it for is school. I am in my graduates program and I needed a computer that was light enough, and powerful enough for me to do word processing, web browsing, downloading PDF's, and keeping up with social media on. The MacBook in my opinion is perfect for someone in school because you can carry the device like a tablet but with a full operating system. If your looking for a gaming machine, a power house for photo editing or video editing then I would look elsewhere. However if you are looking for a productivity machine, a laptop you can carry with you like a tablet ...something to back up your iPhone ...then this is the machine for you and that is putting it very mildly.

Although I have been a Mac loyalist since 2008, and just having purchased a MacBook Pro 15" back in November, I was looking for a smaller, lighter laptop to use when traveling. I already had a MacBook Air 13" but it got stolen, and was looking to replace it. Thought long and hard about purchasing another Air, and did give the MacBook some consideration, but thought it was too small for practical use. I was wrong and glad I purchased the 12" MacBook - the keyboard is much better than I had originally heard, just takes a little getting used to. And the trackpad is awesome, better than on any previous Mac I owned. Display is great, lightweight and just a little sacrifice on screen size (12"), it more than makes up for it once you get used to it. I have easily made this my preferred laptop to go to. Maybe a newer model is coming forth soon, but the current model is well worth the $ especially on deal from Best Buy. Sales support was great, salesman suggested the USB adaptor, which you'll need, but overall grab one of these and you won't regret it!

I was researching for a while on laptops for school and was at a crossroad between a pc or a macbook. After talking to some people who own one i decided to go for it and i am very glad i did. i love the new keypad apple created and the trackpad is very easy and fluid to use. The size is perfect very thin and light and with the retina display just makes it.

We had high hopes for this but were really disappointed. My Ipad actually processes faster than this computer does which was so disheartening. After a couple days of use the screen started flickering. We took it back and bought another Macbook Pro.

At first I was on the fence about buying this MacBook after reading many mixed reviews. I originally decided to purchase a 13 inch MacBook Air but was a little disappointed in the display quality and the fact that it’s footprint was actually larger than my wife’s 13 inch rMBP. I found this MacBook on sale at Best Buy for $300 off and got an additional $100 of by purchasing an open box product. This deal actually made it cheaper than the MacBook Air so i decided to give it a shot. The open box product was in excellent condition and looked brand new out of the box. I ended up return the MacBook Air! The main selling point of this MacBook was it’s amazing retina display. I was a little hesitant about the 12 inch screen but the display quality if well worth the downgrade in size. I have not noticed any issues with the Core M processor. I mostly use my laptop for web browsing and streaming videos and music and this machine can handle those tasks lightning fast. I also find the new keyboard very comfortable to type on. As for the MacBook infamous singe port this has not been an issue at all. The only attachment I needed to purchase was the USB-C to USB type A adapter so that I can connect my optical drive and external hard drive when needed. Don’t be persuaded by all of the negative and mixed reviews. The truth is that this laptop is more than capable of handling the daily needs of most users. While i’m not sure that I would have paid the original $1300 for this MacBook, the currently discounts make it one of the best deals out there right now for a Mac. If you snag one under $1000 I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it.

I bought this MacBook for my wife because she uses FaceTime and mostly the Internet to stream movies and this is perfect for those uses. It's ultra portable, light, easy to take around the house. By no means is this laptop a "power" laptop, so if you video edit or play games that require high capabilities, look into the MacBook Pro. The retina screen is amazing and the design is beautiful. She is getting used to the sole USB-C port.

I've used a Macbook Air and Pro for six years and was excited to have this model. Almost everything about this machine is incredible. The Core M processor is lightening fast. They've finally improved the sound of the speakers. It's feather light. Does not run hot. Beautifully backlit keys and lovely colors. Very unfortunately the keys are so close together it's difficult to type and I have small hands. Also the key stroke is so short its uncomfortable to type. I'm confused as to why Apple chose to make this model so tiny. If you didn't feel comfortable with the 11.6 in MacBook Air, You're not gonna love this model unless you feel comfortable typing on this tiny machine. Other then that it's quite perfect.

This was a great mac as expected, until the keyboard started sticking on some keys. It is a new design, and it was taken care of only via repalcement to an older and lots more expensive Macbook pro. The problems were well documented online at the Apple feedback forum. Also the USB-C is a work in progress. Few things mate with it, and there is only one. So charging and data transfer can only occur together with a very expensive hub ~$45. Ouch! Gave this one back. Needs work and evolution.

Went to buy a computer on sale...and was told it was in stick whe actually it was out...had to special order and wait 3 days to ship door daughter who was needing off the shelf for school. Big inconvenience

After booting this computer up for the first time, the operating system would not launch. Apple Care advised me to mail it in, however since I had owned it for less than 2 hours, I returned it.

PROS: The MacBook is adorable and perfect for school. CONS: Trying to right click can get a little difficult. The camera is just horrible, I honestly expected more from Apple.

This is my second gold macbook and it has a problem with staying on the wifi. I am constantly taking it into Apple for repairs and calling the Apple number

A couple things, 1. This a fantastic overall computer. 2. The people complaining about the battery life I am going to assume, don't quit open apps which will bog down your computer and/or have their brightness up when it's not needed. 3. The lack of ports really is not that big of an issue. Really how much do you need a port? Most of us almost never use one. 4. I have to take basic coding classes for college and this computer works great. 5. The keyboard is fantastic. From what I am seeing, that's opinion based. NOTE: This is my first Macbook so i really have no bias. In fact, because I've used windows all my life I was really nervous to go to MacOS.

This MacBook is exactly what I was looking for. It's fast and works flawless. It's portable, made extremely well, and has great warrantee options through apple and best buy. The new trackpad and keyboard are great, There are no extra ports on the side because the computer utilizes USB-C.

I was sad that after buying this open box item to avail of the discount, I got it home and found it has malfunctioned and does not work.

If I was going to go with this model I would go with an iPad. I returned it and went with the larger Mac that has the USB insert
