Butterfly key mechanism
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The butterfly key mechanism works fairly well for about one year, after which various keys bottom-out and won't return to their original position. This has been widely reported on various reviews. Apple has not stated that they have remedied this on the new October, 2016 Macbook Pro 13" and 15" with the Skylake processor.

Decent laptop, terrible keyboard and touchpad.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m reviewing this laptop 7 years after I purchased it. I remember exactly how I felt using this laptop which was decent. It had a Core M chip that barely kept up with macOS operating system. It did help a little with battery life though. The only negative things I can recall were the horrible keyboard and touchpad on this device, it had a very thin, low-travel keyboard that had low travel and Force Touch trackpad that was a huge step back from the MacBooks that came before it. The only positive thing I can take away from this laptop at that current time was the inclusion of a Retina Display which was a big deal at the time for that price point and the main reason I purchased it. Would not recommend purchasing this today though unless it’s heavily discounted.

4 out of 5
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is beautiful in color as I purchased the gold model. In terms of needed specs for doing YouTube videos, this has imovie but a basic version of it. It has the basic 8gb and 256 ssd flash drive, which is sufficient and you can just purchase a flash drive to makeup for the additional lack of space. It does get the job done when rendering short videos (4 mins average). What I noticed is that it did overheat in the process. Video editing, while it can be done, may overwork this laptop. It is best for ultra portability and people who do not require a lot of ports or will be mainly web browing, researching, emailing, and other light activities. With the Bluetooth you can connect up to 7 devices, but 3-4 is recommended. Overall, I recommend this for those who want more functionality than a typical ipad but will not be running heavy intensive editing, 3D graphic, gaming or similar software that require a lot of cpu action (1.1 ghz processor, but turbo boosts up to 3.2 for heavy applications).

I should've purchased this ages ago
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's only my first week of using this laptop but I am already wanting to recommend this. I am a first time Mac user, having purchased this after my less than a month old HP laptop was lagging and not fulfilling my expectations. Now that I have this, I don't know why I ever invested in any other laptop before. It's fast, keyboard and touchpad extremely responsive, (I find the more flat keys super easy to use), resolution and display are also superb! As a college student, I use it mostly for note taking, word documents, presentations, etc. It does everything I need it to flawlessly. And in addition, it is so attractive! Invest in a Mac!

Love Rose Gold but Not Same as Mac Air
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, Im usually one to read reviews online before a big purchase but i went to replace my mac air 11' since it broke and it had to be replaced I was going to get the exact same one or 13'. But I saw this one and woah let me tell you I am a sucker for cuteness and the color just bought me. Let me tell you yes this screen may be a bit bigger then the one i had a since this ne was more costlly then my air I though hey it should be better. Im so used to the mac air keyboard being tiny Ive had it for 3 years so Im used to and it thin just like this one. I get the one port thing but I rather have my magnet charger (mind me not sure what its called) but Its so much better I fill like this port could just be damaged so easily. And another is the webcam. OH let me tell you its terrible quality. Your better off with The macbook air 11' or 13' they are also thin but everything it better quality. I will not be returning mine sadly because I already bought everything necessary for protection. And ill test it out longer to see if it grows on me and yes the color is nice. But I tend to accidentally damage my computers easy, so iIl be going back to the Air in about 2 years. I have kids and the tend to grab on it even I put it away or falls from hands etc. I should have stick to my original because for the extra I had to forkout for this one is basically not worth it. Go for The Mac Air, if your looking for a great thin laptop and the 11' is much cheaper but if you want go for the 13' around the same price as this one.

Basically an iPad with a keyboard.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been waiting for Apple to make an iPad similar to a Microsoft Surface Pro. I have a Surface Pro and a 15" Retina Macbook Pro for my transcoding and heavy lifting. I use to have an 11" Macbook Air that was great, but the lack of retina was annoying when all my other displays were so much better. I would have loved for Apple to make an iPad that runs OSX, however this is close enough. I use it for everything except heavy transcending tasks. The only negative is Apple not having adaptors at launch or still a month later for connecting to their own Apple Cinema displays.

Best MacBook Ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the ultimate MacBook - power and portability in one. Although the processor is Core M, it is actually very snappy for doing everyday things such as browsing the internet, working with Microsoft Office, and watching HD videos from iTunes, Netflix, and Hulu. Battery life is awesome at 9 hours. The only downside is having one USB-C port and a 480p FaceTime camera, but other than that, this is the best MacBook I have used and I used to have the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro with Retina Display.

Good lightweight fast laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't use the laptop for anything other then basic activities but it is good and meets my needs in this regard. It's light weight and portable and fast. I just wish I got a laptop with a port for my usb and ideally longer lasting battery but apart from that it's good.

Great device, INCREDIBLE sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for web browsing, watching Netflix, sending email, etc... just the basics, and I'm BLOWN away. The design is impeccable, the screen is beautiful, keyboard is backlit, mouse is responsive. I don't use USB, so the single lightning port doesn't bother me. The thing that really amazes me though is the audio. This little guy sounds better than literally ANY other laptop on the market, regardless of size. I've tested them all. It's just amazing clear and loud. I've never enjoyed listening to music on a laptop before and that's a game changer. This is a must buy!

Great little laptop, but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Make sure it will suit your needs. I chose it for portability. I walk all day with the Macbook. A lacking processor is ok for my use, as most of my tools are web or Citrix based. The single USB-c is concerning, but I feel it's worth the compromise for what I use the laptop for. Oh, and I can't deny, this is a pretty laptop to look at. It's well constructed, and does it's job. I did purchase a clear thin shell for the case, but is mainly because I carry it by itself. No laptop bag or sleeve. The price is way to high. I got mine at BB for $999. and even that is high. But, you're paying for the name, experience, and basically a beautiful machine. Work bought me one, and I bought one for the wife.

Just Ok....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As far as apple goes you can expect the same sleek, light weight design out of this macbook. The gold color was gorgeous and it matched my iPad and iPhone. I was impressed with the battery life considering the compact size of the Mac, but that is about where the good impression ended. I found the keyboard difficult to get used to and for me, it was a little slow. My browser had to be restarted several times if i had multiple windows open and i had to actually restart it trying to log into iTunes. I returned it for a macbook pro, but all in all its great if you want something light weight and extremely portable.

Exactly What I Needed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I switched from a 2014 2.8 ghz MacBook Pro 15" Retina to this, I got jeers from everyone I knew. 4 weeks into using it, I know I've made the right decision. See my pros and cons below and decide for yourself. Pros: - Ultra Portable - Easy To Pull Out And Just Use - Great Battery Life - BIG Keys - Love The Feel Of The Keys - Beautiful, Bright Screen - Amazing Design - Internal Speakers Speakers Sound Great - Basic Finder Operations are FAST - The Track Pad Is The Best I've Ever Used - Lightweight Charging Cable Compared with MBP Cons: - Doesn't Play Well with Adobe Apps (Even Acrobat) - Slow Charging - WiFi Issues When Using Free Internet Source - Arrow Key Design Is Annoying - Keyboard Covers Slip Right Off - Hinge Not Rigid Enough - Proprietary Power Brick My bottom line on this computer is that it is extremely pleasurable to use. It flips open so easily, that you end up being more productive while out of the office. It is NOT RECOMMENDED that this be your only computer! The great benefit behind this product is that you can have files synced in the cloud, start working outside the office, and then when you get back to the office, pick right back up where you left off on a more powerful machine with a full size screen. This Is the future of workflow. It was impossible 3 years ago. I'll never go back.

Don't Listen to the Critics
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As many others here have stated, I must say I have no idea what the critics are talking about. Here is my daily workload and concurrently open apps: - Two external monitors plus laptop display (1 monitor over usb to hdmi adapter) - 5+ Safari tabs - MATLAB - Word - PowerPoint - Excel - Keynote - iMovie - iTunes - Messages - Mail - Photoshop And this thing performs impressively well. Now even better with El Capitan. That is incredible. The number of reviews, many by respected sources, that denigrate this engineering marvel sicken me. Obviously under this workload it's not as responsive as a MacBook Pro or iMac, but to say it is unacceptably sluggish browsing folders or email is completely absurd.

Lite computer for home or go
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Macbook just after they came out. This was my first Apple computer. I use it for home use. It works really well. I can't compare it to my last Windows computer as it was a $350 computer that crashed a lot. If you get this you won't use your iPad any more as this is about as light, and has a keyboard. It may not for games though.
