My regular computer is a top end 15" Macbook Pro with every possible feature Apple offers to make it an extremely fast, comfortable machine to get work done. So using this MacBook could be an extremely difficult, if not insurmountable experience. I am 67 years old so ergonometrics and readability are critical. I don't have the eyes of a 20 year old. I've never been able to use a small screen laptop from any manufacturer because of this need. That's why I did not buy a Macbook air two years ago. The Macbook screen finally provides a foundation for acceptable readability. Its high definition screen coupled with the accessibility widgets in Mac OS X makes it possible. I dug into the zoom and display capability options of OSX and this computer went from acceptable to YES for my uses. The icing on the cake was when I found the display contrast setting and tweaked it up a bit. I have become quite facile at jumping in and out of zoom depending on the app I am using. If these features were not available I would not buy this computer. Now about processor performance.. I cannot speak to the original MacBook or current low end processor. I bought the latest M5 processor model with intel 555 graphics hardware. Keep in mind that I am moving back forth between this Macbook and my road burner Macbook Pro. Is there a difference? of course. But I find the main difference is that I have to keep open apps to a reasonable number (4-5) on the macbook before performance degrades. Otherwise, app switching, loading and general performance are quite nice. however, I keep the photoshop activity exclusively on the Pro. The keyboard is very easy for me to get used to. It has a noticeably lighter touch than the Pro. I find that I can type faster, for longer periods of time on the Macbook. Don't judge this keyboard by first impression. Buy a Macbook and keep it for a week during the return period at Best buy and use it constantly. I think you will be surprised. There is not much to say about size and portability. The Macbook is AWESOME. So I own an iPad and Macbook pro. What am I doing with a macbook? I learned very quickly after getting the iPad that it is not a work platform nor a computer replacement. I still use it for browsing and viewing. I love the pro and use it at home for heavy duty work and image processing. The Macbook comes into its own when you leave the house and go to Starbucks or sit in the waiting room at the doctor's office or pack lightly for a vacation or want to work in that cramped airline seat. its is a very satisfying experience. Lastly what about lack of ports? If this is your only computer and you want to attach an external DVD drive or some favorite USB gadget or regularly transfer graphics using a camera card, then its an inconvenient choice. Get a low end 13" Macbook pro for less money and you will be ecstatic. All of my other computers are silver or black. I bought a gold MacBook. It looks like a piece of jewelry. I like it.

Love everything about this computer EXCEPT the battery life is not half as long as advertised. Only using word processing and simple web research (no streaming, few apps open), battery life only 3-4 hours.
