A 15 year MS Windows user but hooked to Mac!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am graduating this summer, so I thought of upgrading from my 17 inch vaio with windows 7. After some research, I was undecided between the Lonovo Y50 and the Macbook air. I settled for the macbook air, and I am very happy with my decision. I use this to primarily write papers/grants, etc. I like the portability (its incredibly light!), but has i5 power. 4 GB ram is just fine, but I had MS word from office 2011 crashing on me sometimes while editing my 300 page dissertation, but that was pushing its limits quite a bit. It doesn't ever get hot like I read in some of the reviews, is totally silent, wakes up from sleep in a second, and is totally light (means no back pain in carrying it around!). I also got a student deal that took 200 bucks off of the price! Overall I am very happy with the purchase.

Fast, portable, reliable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The battery life is astounding. I go days doing work, watching Netflix, etc. without the need for a charge. It is light and easy to throw in a small satchel. The solid state drive makes for a fast machine and no heat from use. Add in Apple OS reliability, I have a machine that consistently does what it is supposed to every time I open it; I do my work (or play) and then put it away. Repeat as necessary...without issue.

Great Purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had 2 computers die and needed something to replace them. I've always been a fan of Apple and couldn't be happier. The solid state drive is amazing. I have never had anything boot up so fast. It doesn't get very hot like other laptops and the battery seems to last forever. When it does need charging it charges incredibly fast.

Best Choice Ever!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Switching from a PC to a Mac is not easy but it was well worth the struggle to relearn functions. I love how my MacBook and iPhone communicate. I love that I can make calls and text from my MacBook. It really makes my life easier. Plus it is so darn light and doesn't heat up! A++

Excellent Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a MacBook Pro with 8gb ram and 750gb HD. Bought the Air for my wife to take the Bar Exam. Love this laptop. The SSD is fast and stays cool. My MBP is hot to the touch after 30-45 min of heavy use whereas the MBA doesn't seem to heat up. I got the 256gb ssd. Good for travel but maybe not enough room for my law practice.

Convenient and light
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If what you do is basically limited to word processing, emails and surfing the net, the mac air is great. However, when I add a monitor to stream a movie while multitasking, it gets hot real quick.

Concerned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had my new computer for over one month and already having problems. The computer gets extremely hot and I'm unable to use the keyboard. It's sporadic and can't figure out why a brand new computer gets this hot. I do not stream videos, movies, etc., only checking email. Strange, plan to go back to Best Buy to figure out what is going on...thank god for buying the coverage.
