It is ok
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are one of those people who needs everything apple, this is for you. If you do not care about apple, this is not for you. The specs of this laptop are of a 200 dollar chromebook. Get yourself a windows for literally half the price. I regret getting this. Not because its bad, but its so overpriced just for the apple logo. You can get a cheaper asus or other chinese brand computers with triple the specs for half the price. You can also upgrade those laptops for better performance. You cannot work on an apple product. You are stuck going to apple themselves or a thrid-party.

Not the most value for my money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this because my granddaughter was adamant about taking a Mac to college. It pained me to pay more for less when comparing the features of this Mac to a similar to lower priced Windows based laptop.

For beginners.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Besides the Mac mini, it is the cheapest laptop computer you can purchase from apple; also if im not mistaken, the only one with all the side ports. Recommend it for a jr high/high school student.

Ridiculously Good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been around computers since 1999 and have staunchly used Windows all the way from 3.1 through Windows 10 on various machines (HP, Dell, Vaio, Assembler, Lenovo etc) and have used only Android phones since it's inception. I never got into the Apple bandwagon until the first time about seven months ago when I purchased my first iPhone 7 plus. It instantly made me fall in love with it, ios11 was so fluid, gorgeous, flawless without the slightest bit of lag as opposed to every other android phone I've used. A week ago, my laptop crashed and burned and I had to get a replacement almost immediately. For the first time I considered an Apple, went straight to Best Buy and after a bit of thought decided to go with the Macbook Pro. Heavily considered the Air since it had a more attractive price point but the Retina display simply won out in the end. Pros: 1. The build quality is simply premium. There's no other way to put it. The product, like every other Apple product, is extremely well thought out and care and great attention to detail has been put into it's design (both hardware and software). 2. MacOS is gorgeous, well designed and clean, smooth and fluid. Using it is a pleasure. 3. Trackpad and the gestures that go with it are spectacular (takes a slight but of learning curve). Makes Windows trackpad look amateurish in comparison. 4. Speakers are much better that the ones built into Windows. 5. Sync with the iPhone flawlessly and being able to receive iMessages, Facetime and Calls on the Mac is a huge plus. 6. The tactile feedback on the keyboard is fantastic and feels more accurate. 7. Battery life is better than any Windows laptop I've used. The design makes the laptop very portable. 8. After sales service (Apple care) is second to none. Cons: 1. Price. Yes, the Mac is expensive but based on enough reviews the TCO is better than any Windows laptop. I've had to replace laptops every other year but apparently the Mac should function and hold it's value for 5-7 years. 2. Muscle memory: Having come from a Windows background, there's are a few things that need to be done differently while using the Mac but this shouldn't take long to learn and should be well worth it. 3. Not suitable for intensive gaming or any extremely high end graphics work (for which you may indeed need to get a Windows machine with a dedicated high end graphics card). 4. Ports: Connectivity is somewhat lacking with just two Thunderbolt ports but doesn't seem to be a deal breaker so far. Purchased a USB C to A converter for $20 and it does the trick in connecting my various printers etc. Verdict: Pricey initially but you absolutely get what you pay for and once you do, you will wonder why you stuck with a Windows machine for so long.

Can’t activate Office 365 on this product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought both an iMac and a MacBook on 3/27 with the understanding that Offfice 365 would run on both. I have the same problem with both. The next day, I successfully installed Office on both computers, but I could not activate it on either machine. When I click on “Sign In” on the activation window, the window just goes blank and stays that way. Apple had me delete and reinstall with the same result, then said it wasn’t their problem, that I needed to contact Microsoft. Microsoft said they knew about the issue, it started the previous day, it must be something Apple did, and they didn’t have a solution but would contact me in 2 days on the current status. I have washed hour and hours on this and the computers are useless to me without Office. If you need to run Office, don’t buy a Mac.

Extremely dissapontef
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hearing great things about Apple products and needing a computer I venture to BB to look at several Apple products. I went just to get the imac but found my way over to the laptops particularly the Mac air and for the price I decided to also take it home. Was stoke to get it going since you alway hear great reviews about bit what a dissapointment. I took it out of the packaging and started. I got past the part of which language to used but after that the computer would not continued with the set up program. You would think that for the amount of money and all the reputation that Apple has something like that would not happened but I guess there's always a bad one outhere. I was so disappointed that I just return it and just kept the Imac. Maybe one day just maybe one day....
