I bought this for my daughter and uses it a lot for college. She’s fast in typing. She said the pc has a lag switching programs and grainy video using some chat software. She doesn’t like it and will not recommend. She told me to just get the MacBook Pro.

    WORTH THE UPGRADE

I know a lot of people say that the new MacBook Air has its downfalls and that you may as well buy the MacBook pro Well, I highly disagree. The MacBook air has great brightness for everyday use, it is SUPER LIGHT (which is great for someone looking for a computer that won't break your back). And the new screen is incredible. Most reviews for these computers are pointed towards people who are YouTubers or "creative types". From the perspective of just a normal person using this computer, I can easily say this is one of the best options for a personal laptop currently on the market. For someone who doesn't need insane levels of power or RAM or someone who doesn't necessarily need the extra ports, this is a great computer. A normal person only needs one single USB type C to USB dongle to get by, and I barely ever use mine. Happy Shopping!!!

2018 Macbook air died within 4 days

Warning, there is a known issue with faulty logic boards for this 2018 Macbook air model. Google the issue, it is a known issue and Apple is offering free repairs to the logicboard when damaged. The fact Bestbuy/Apple still are selling this faulty model is a joke. I purchased last weekend and it died this week. 4 days, computer shut down and there was a burning smell from the power connection area of the Mac. What a piece of junk.

Although the build quality is great and typical Apple level of finish, the Laptop uses the Y Series of i5 processor unlike the U Series which would be found in typical windows laptops.

Bought this open box. Wasn't told about any previous maintenance on it. Believe it was a lemon from the get go. Don't think the Geek Squad really looked at this. Had to take it to another store in town for a keyboard replacement. Then had to go to Greenville on more than one occasion as the hinge didn't have a sensor in it... it didn't register that the computer was closed and altered my screen while shut and "shut down". Overheats with regular use. Not an effective computer for the current times we have where technology is required. 2020 model was much better.

We bought this Mac to utilize the power that "MAC"books had. We thought since this is a Mac we wouldn't have to purchase the expensive 4 year warranty. Well - after 1.25 years the screen goes dark. We take it to Geek squad and they say it will be over $500 to fix it. We spent $1000 on it and it lasts a little over a year. What a complete rip off. The computer knew when it past the factory warranty and died. Will never buy a Mac again. What a joke. If anyone has $1000 to reimburse me feel free. I am angry with Apple.

Right out of the box it needed to be fixed; couldn’t be returned and needed to go back to an actual Apple store to have it fixed. Disappointing for an Apple product. However, still much better than a PC!

Apple is to proud of its name. For the price I would expect touch screen and the downloading on this computer was terrible. I took 45 mins to download a PowerPoint that my old computer done in 10.

I purchased this MacBook Air in December 2018, three months after the warranty expiration, battery started giving me problems, can't last 1 hour without a charge. I am a fashion designer, there is no other products out there as pretty, however, I didn't expect it from Apple, since my other MacBook Air device (which is probably 10+ years old) are still working ok. I wish battery had a longer waranty

After 21 months, the MacBook Air has crashed. After my last update(Big Sur) the screen is dead. I took to Geek Squad and was told by representative he has had previous experiences from other customers. $1300 down the drain. I have an appointment with Apple Support tomorrow and hoping Apple has some remedies for this AAPL stockholder.

    Solid upgrade

All-in-all, no complaints. I owned two previous MacBook Airs and I enjoyed them all. I do the normal browsing, email, social media as well as some photo editing and some programming. I use Visual Studio for Mac and Visual Studio Code, mostly for prototyping and testing ideas. I connect remotely to various systems as well. The touchpad is silky smooth (always a strong point with Apple laptops IMHO) and I've not noticed the cursor moving while I type from my palm resting. I did buy a dongle for a USB-A connector and haven't attached a mouse yet. The sound is surprisingly good. For many types of music the sound is crisp, clear, and louder than my previous MBA - I've enjoyed all the music I've listened to. Songs that depend on a heavier distortion response might be a little weaker but overall given the size of these speakers, it's been a positive experience. The display is beautiful. This is the most significant upgrade to me, compared to the previous MBA. Looking though my photo album, many pictures just pop. The keyboard....I'm one of those who disliked the butterfly keyboard. I purchased a laptop with a 1st gen butterfly keyboard and it just sat in the corner and later sold it to a friend who didn't mind it. This generation has just enough of a bounce that it's providing some feedback I need. I use a ThinkPad and a mechanical keyboard on another computer and from time to time I miss some key hits, mostly when using the shift key quickly. I have not had a missed key press with this butterfly no matter how quickly I type or how "messy" (trying to force a mistake). They keyboard is growing on me. I've done a lot of typing at this point and I don't dislike it nearly as much as I used to. I'm not compiling FireFox or the Linux kernel. I'm not editing 4K video. I'm using this laptop for a variety of tasks, some more demanding than others, like my development and it's doing just fine. For my expectations, the laptop is great.
