Out with the old and in with the new MacAir.

Our old MacAir computer was around 12 years old. This new one was a real breath of fresh air. The speed of this computer is lightening years ahead of our old one. The other noticeable thing is the life of the battery between charges. How nice to use a computer that didn't need to be continuously plugged in to the charger.

Upgraded by old MacBook Air as I've been a fan for a a while. My new MacBook Air is much faster than my old one from about 5 years ago and also has better compatibility with software that is typically developed for PCs. While the screensize is the same, the body is a bit slimmer & lighter so easier to carry about while still as good to use.

Why My MacBook Air Is the Best Tech Investment

Why My MacBook Air Is the Best Tech Investment I’ve Made When it comes to blending power, portability, and simplicity, few devices deliver quite like the MacBook Air. I’ve had mine for a while now, and I can confidently say—it’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. Light as Air, Strong as Steel The first thing anyone notices about the MacBook Air is its unbelievably light frame. Whether I’m heading to a café, catching a flight, or just moving from my desk to the couch, I barely notice it in my bag. But don’t let its sleek design fool you—this machine is durable and built to last. Performance That Keeps Up Powered by Apple’s custom silicon (like the M1 or M2 chip, depending on your model), this laptop is fast. Apps open instantly, multitasking feels seamless, and even demanding tasks like photo editing or running multiple tabs never slow it down. It handles my day-to-day tasks—and then some—with ease.

    Nice Little Typing Laptop

Let's keep this in mind before reading too much into my review: I'm a 33-year Windows veteran who hasn't used a Apple computer since the Apple IIe (let's not count my iPhone or iPad, okay?) and I've got to say... it ain't half bad. These MacBooks are solid chunks of aluminum with nice feeling keys and pretty okay software. The main thing Apple has been pushing is "it just works" which, for the most part (prior to Apple Intelligence) is true... provided you're already up to your knees in the Apple ecosystem AND you're okay with the fact that Apple likes to do things that make no sense except to their executive bean counters. So far, I really love USING this thing, or at least the physical act of it. Typing is pleasant, once you get used to the fact that Apple seems to think aesthetics are somehow more important than ergonomics. For example, no matter how "centered" they want to pretend this keyboard is, my hands do not feel centered at all. Also, the trackpad is centered within the width of the chassis, but the keys are NOT - basically because they never have been before. So your hands are not going to feel quite right if you're coming from a Windows machine to this Mac thing and you do a lot of typing. I was glad to get the 16GB model for a halfway decent price (relatively speaking - my Asus Vivobook with 20GB RAM and 1.5TB storage STILL cost less than this thing even after I built it up) but that's not why I bought this. This is mainly my writing laptop now, for social media and actual word processing. It'll get me around on the internet just fine, but I still prefer the wide-screen format of my 15" Asus. But aside from portability and the need for something more up-to-date than my old Ryzen-5 machine, I'm hoping that this is better with graphics and video and audio editing than my Asus. And I'm glad to see that I now have a single-port docking capability for a second monitor+power+USB for the times when I'm actually using this at my desk... a feature only my corporate Latitude 5540 could replicate before. But for all its physical density (this thing is thin and solid) the outer finish is slick and slippery. You're absolutely going to want to get a sleeve, or at least a vinyl skin, for carrying this thing around. I happen to have tons of space in my laptop bag, so this goes in there fine with my iPad and Asus and all the cables that go with them. But carrying this thing from room to room with one hand is a recipe for disaster, unless you actually prefer your laptops full of dents and scratches and Cheeto-dust. For the price you're paying for this, it would be worth every penny to at least give it some protection and slip-resistance.

Replaced My Old MacBook Air and It’s Awesome

I had a 2013 MacBook Air that still works but I could no longer protect, so I got a newer one of the same because it’s been dependable and everything I need. This model is a huge upgrade and I’m exceedingly happy with the purchase, it’s faster and even more user friendly. The color is a nice bonus as well, it’s lovely. This MacBook does everything I need and so much more than I probably even know. I’m a writer and that’s what I primarily use it for, I don’t need any additional software or expensive add ons. I haven’t even gotten the battery down below 50% after an entire day of working. It’s perfect.

I’ve been using the MacBook Air for a few weeks now, and I’m truly impressed with how it combines sleek design with impressive performance. The laptop is incredibly lightweight, making it easy to carry around all day, whether I’m working from a coffee shop or traveling. The Retina display is sharp and vibrant, which is perfect for both professional tasks and streaming content.

Great pricing and has 16GB for good multitasking. Battery is excellent. The only bummer is the M2 only supports 1 external monitor with the lid closed. Some scenarios will allow the laptop to be open but at a low resolution (1080p). I would also check in person if you find the screen too small, in that case move to the 15 but expect to pay way more.

For years, the MacBook Air has held a unique position in the laptop landscape, promising portability without sacrificing usability. Having spent a good amount of time with the latest iteration, I can confidently say it largely delivers on that promise and then some. The first thing that strikes you is the design. It's impossibly thin and light – the kind of laptop you genuinely forget is in your bag. This makes it an absolute dream for anyone on the go, whether you're a student rushing between classes, a professional constantly hopping between meetings, or simply someone who likes to work from different corners of their home. The build quality feels as premium as you'd expect from Apple, solid and reassuring. But the MacBook Air is more than just a pretty face. The performance, especially with the Apple silicon, is truly impressive. Everyday tasks like browsing, email, and document editing are lightning fast and buttery smooth. Even more demanding applications run surprisingly well, making light work of photo editing or even some video editing tasks. The efficiency of the chip also translates to exceptional battery life. I routinely found myself going through an entire workday and then some without needing to reach for the charger – a significant upgrade from previous generations. The display is vibrant and sharp, making everything from text to videos look crisp and clear. While it might not have the ProMotion technology of its pricier siblings, it's still a joy to use for extended periods. The keyboard remains comfortable for typing, offering a decent amount of travel and a satisfying click. The trackpad, as always with MacBooks, is large, responsive, and a pleasure to use with its intuitive gestures. Of course, no product is perfect. The MacBook Air has a limited number of ports, typically just a couple of Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports and a headphone jack. This often necessitates the use of a dongle for connecting older peripherals or multiple accessories. Additionally, for truly intensive creative workflows, the MacBook Pro might still be a better choice due to its more powerful chips and better cooling. In conclusion, the latest MacBook Air is a fantastic laptop for a wide range of users. It perfectly balances portability, performance, and battery life in a sleek and well-built package. While the port selection might be limiting for some, the overall experience is undeniably polished and enjoyable. If you prioritize a lightweight machine that can handle daily tasks with ease and last all day, the MacBook Air is undoubtedly a top contender.

This macbook has been a solid performing laptop for my needs - mainly used for small business needs online with some google docs. I am very satisfied with the overall performance, power, battery life, and tools provided.
