"Excellent" Open-Box Macbook Air

The packaging indicated it may have been a display unit, return, or reconditioned product, and upon opening it, it was clear it had been used as a display model. I noticed fingerprints and residue on the space bar, scratches on the corner of the device, and even what appeared to be white pet hair. Despite attempting to clean it, there is still visible residue I cannot remove. Given the cosmetic wear and lack of professional cleaning, this device should have been rated “good” or even “fair,” not “excellent.” If Best Buy’s inspection process does not include proper cleaning before resale, buyers should proceed with caution. Because new technology purchases carry significant environmental impacts—especially in global manufacturing and disposal—I still encourage buying renewed or refurbished products whenever possible.
