I recently purchased the MacBook Pro M4, and I am absolutely blown away by its performance. From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell this was going to be a powerful machine. The design is sleek and professional, with a beautiful display that’s perfect for both work and entertainment. The M4 chip is a real powerhouse. Everything runs so smoothly, from demanding applications to multitasking across several programs at once. I’ve noticed significant improvements in speed and efficiency compared to my previous MacBook. Whether I’m editing videos, running virtual machines, or just browsing, the system handles it with ease. The battery life is impressive too, lasting all day without needing a charge – even with heavy usage. I also appreciate the quality of the speakers, which deliver crisp, clear sound without distortion at high volumes. Overall, the MacBook Pro M4 is the best laptop I’ve ever owned. It’s fast, efficient, and looks amazing. Highly recommend it for anyone who needs a powerful, reliable laptop for both work and play!

    My first Apple product purchase

Note that I am in my late 30s and have been strongly opposed to using Apple products my whole life. After careful consideration and thought, I wanted a very power efficient and capable machine. Oddly enough, after doing a lot of research, I stumbled upon benchmarks comparing our current line up of CPUs against the Apple M4 silicon. To my surprise, Apple's M4 was close to the top of the benchmark scores for modern CPU performance. I have been an Intel fanboy my entire life, although have also owned many AMD-based machines, and really wanted something powerful with a long battery life that could outperform AMD's Ryzen U CPUs and didn't give me a headache or leave me worried about compatibility problems from a Snapdragon desktop experience and found something much more capable at a very low power draw....and here we are. The amazing Apple M silicon will not disappoint even the most picky power users like myself. I am sipping power on battery life using as low as 10W TDP!! without any compromise at all for heavy multitasking. This machine is incredibly snappy and feels just like my 10th gen Intel desktop felt overclocked and XMPd to the max. It's EXTREMELY responsive and snappy. And that has absolutely been my experience daily driving this on its all day battery life...incredibly, in low power mode!!!! I originally eyeballed the amazing low price desktop model m4, but decided that the laptop would better fit my needs for portability purpose and realized it only needed 1 recharge a day max during extremely heavy usage which lined up within my expectations. I decided instead of constantly powering the desktop variant thru USB-C, the Macbook Pro laptop could just be charged and sip power from the battery all day long depending on your usage, and in my experience 10 hours straight with heavy heavy multitasking on low power mode which will last you during all stock market hours doing whatever you want without problem. Some people will get 20 hr+ battery. Pros: EXCEPTIONAL display. 120Hz dual stacked mini-LEDs that run at 1000 nits+ on a glossy display. This screen is absolute eye candy and can output up to 3024x1964 natively which is a bump up from 1440p, but not quite 4k. Regardless, the Pro Retina XDR display is very responsive, bright, and has amazing color fidelity and will keep you glued for hours. This is the first laptop I've owned where the internal display is up to par in quality with my full sized HDR desktop displays that I've spent hundreds of dollars on. I see absolutely no halo effect like I do on my full sized desktop mini-LED display and can actually use my laptop monitor without complaints for the first time in my life. This monitor is FIRE!!! Looks great and I cannot possibly find a single issue with it considering all issues can be resolved if you need to crank up the resolution a bit from the default. It's absolutely perfect for discord, lurking on streams, pulling up your stocks and using a daily driver desktop monitor along side it for maximum productivity. With the excellent display comes amazing speaker quality. I was absolutely blown away when I ran some HDR video demos and heard how bold and immersive the audio was natively coming from this machine when I sat the laptop on my lap. The speakers in this laptop are absolutely perfection and far beyond my expectations for an immersive audio experience. This little 14" laptop really gives you a full movie theater feel when watching video and you won't be let down. I've listened to music using EarPods before and was blown away by the quality for the price of those as well and you won't be disappointed at all if you forget to bring headphones or a soundbar. These speakers are very good and loud. The webcam is excellent quality. For a front facing webcam, you're getting a 1080p image that I actually can't complain about. This is the best built-in webcam I've ever used on a laptop and consider it good enough to record full 1080p video without too many complaints. It's just good enough quality to get a pass without requiring the use of an external webcam. To my surprise, when an application accesses your webcam, you can click the icon and control it with certain affects like center stage which rivals nvidia's face tracking technology as well as the option of a digitally zoom where I've zoomed all the way out and was satisfied with the actual coverage of its viewing angle from just a short 3-4 feet away. It covers a lot of area when you zoom out, more than my cell phone camera and 1080p webcam. There's also a down-facing camera which is cool if you want to record yourself playing keyboard and mouse or show some notes during a presentation. I used it to get my sleeping dog in frame on a video I recorded after a bit of adjustment and does show up as a secondary camera. Both cameras do show up as separate sources in OBS. The built in microphone also does the job if you add a bit of noise suppression and gain filter in your broadcast software. I had no major complaints recording a video with the built-in webcam and mic and know for sure that I wouldn't have this experience with most other laptops out of box. Apple's background removal is a bit more primitive in comparison to Nvidia's but it does work well enough for the most part. The design is very clean and although I accidentally bought the space black model, I am happy that I did so. I originally wanted the lighter color to keep the machine cool in case of going outdoors in sunlight, but the body is metallic and surprisingly a bit heavy so it repeals heat naturally which is a nice contrast from the partial plastic laptop builds that I'm used to from Lenovo and Asus. This laptop sips power and also runs with very low fan noise. It's basically silent and a stark contrast from any Intel or AMD based CPU I've used in the past during heavy loads. You won't notice the fans, even while doing a bit of gaming. Speaking of gaming. To my surprise, one of my favorite games runs natively in MacOS: RUST! I couldn't believe it, but after installing steam it was on the list. Not only that but Cities Skylines. Two of my favorite games. They run extremely well for this not intending to be a gaming laptop and blows away my Ryzen 5500U laptop out of the water. After doing some fine tuning with graphics and turning the resolution down a bit, I was able to comfortably get between 80-120 FPS 1080p low graphics in Rust without hardly any stutters or hitches in game which is incredible on a machine without a dedicated GPU. Cities Skylines ran just fine at around 30 FPS pretty steady and met my expectations. And the greatest part, they ran on battery for hours each!!!! You can game on this thing for a solid 4-5 hours without it running out of power which is AWESOME. The gaming experience on battery life [not in low power mode] is identical to being plugged in. As far as productivity, sure, it's a bit lagging behind Windows and Linux out of box. I don't like the window snapping. You have to be very precise with the cursor and things don't snap with a natural feeling. I ended up replacing the snapping with 3rd party software called Rectangle which is open source on github. Not my favorite but it's doing well enough for the time being and to Apple's credit, Windows also doesn't have the best snapping out of box. That said, I did just open up the machine, didn't login with an Apple ID, and performed updates and did some downloads without having to login...HUGE W. I never imagined that an Apple product would allow me to use a machine basically anonymously like WIndows had allowed me to in the past. It just works without sharing any information to Apple. Awesome that Apple has given users the option of protecting their privacy by not using similar tactics that Microsoft now uses to force users to give in against their free will without going thru a bunch of hoops. AppleOS is indeed a Unix type environment so if you're used to Linux, it's not much of a learning curve, but there are some cons. Cons and other notes None of my displays run at their full speed over usb-c to displayport, HOWEVER, my MSI OLED 360Hz panel does indeed run at full 1440p 360Hz full HDR over USB-C to USB-C without any issues. I'm not entirely sure if Apple has a comparable DSC option or not but if your external monitor offers USB-C, go that route and you wont have problems. There is no text scaling problems on any of my external displays which was something I was worried about with the lack of ClearText adjustability. All text looks just fine and my displays run at native resolution. That said, Apple does a nice job of giving you the option of different HDR profiles and I do spend a bit more time selecting what I think looks best as compared to my nvidia machines. Once you find the right color profile, it's totally fine and up to par with clarity and color accuracy. When you set this machine down next to an OLED monitor and run the two side by side in HDR, it's absolutely a joy to experience and feels like absolute luxury. The bluetooth is good range and works well enough but when I pair in my devices, there is more latency than I'm used to when compared to pairing on my phone or Windows laptop. Everything is just a TOUCH more delayed which can be frustrating but won't ruin your day. Apple doesn't exactly have the best bluetooth interface and I can't exactly figure out how to disable sound devices that I don't use like I'm used to in a Windows environment which can get cluttered if you have multiple headsets, speakers, etc. Bluetooth mice and keyboards don't run within my expectations but do get the job done with fine tuning. Get used to the keyboard layout differences from PC keyboards because it's a bit difficult to adjust. The AppleOS experience is still a bit behind, in my honest opinion, when it comes to productivity, but you won't be disappointed in your purchase. It's worth the cost. Software can always improve over time.

This is my fourth MacBook Pro since 2008 and the best one yet! Nine years ago, I was driven from Mac for my accounting & business admin due to very poor Mac interfaces on third-party software. When that PC failed, I thought my only choice was another. After weeks of nightmares with a similarly-priced "loaded" PC, a friend advised that there was a way around those bad interfaces when used on a Mac. Turns out, the 3rd party folks had improved their interfaces dramatically and I've not had a single problem since coming back. The old phrase "It just works" holds true on everything I do with a Mac. This one is as high-performance in all regards as the previous three were when they were new. Thanks to Best Buy TOTAL I was able to reverse my mistake and get back on a much better track with this M4 Mac. Excellent display, speed, fit & finish, insanely good sound for a notebook, and more concise, light weight and power-efficient than ever. I am so glad to be fully back on MacBooks!

I recently purchased the latest MacBook, and I am absolutely in love with it! From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell this was something special. The design is sleek and minimalist, yet incredibly sturdy. The screen is stunning—vibrant colors and sharp details make everything look amazing, whether I’m working on a project or watching a movie. The performance is phenomenal. The new chip is incredibly fast, and everything feels so smooth, whether I'm multitasking or running demanding applications. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in battery life as well; it easily lasts me through a full day of work without needing a charge. One feature I’m particularly impressed with is the improved keyboard. It’s super responsive, and I find typing much more comfortable than my old MacBook. The trackpad is also larger, making navigation even more fluid. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. This MacBook has elevated my productivity and enjoyment in ways I didn’t expect. If you’re considering upgrading, I highly recommend it!

I have a total of 6 other laptops (windows Arm/Windows X86/chromebook/linux) and what the MacBook Pro still does better than all of them is the updates, trackpad, battery lose while asleep, webcam, mics for recording and consistent usage across devices. These things have stayed the same since I bought my M1 MacBook Pro. M4 continues that trend with an amazing display, excellent build, really good speakers and great battery life. Display: The display on the M4 is excellent, it gets bright enough to be used anywhere and even if you don’t get the antireflective coating you won’t have an issue. The 120 htz refresh is is a must and once you have it you won’t be able to go back. I think what no one ever talks about is how good of a job MacOS does at auto dimming and brightening it is the best by a mile in comparison to any other laptop. Build: The build is as all Apple products ….its perfect. Its light and feels great in hand. Now the keys still do show oil prints but it took a lot longer for them to show up compared to before, it took over a month for me to start seeing the oils on the keys. While apple has made it better there is no avoiding it incase you were wondering. Speakers: The speakers on the MacBook are still really good, are they the best? No I have the Asus G16 and it is way better in all respects. This isn’t to say the MacBooks are bad but its just no longer the market leader in this segment. The highs and lows are still really good just not as good as other competitors. Performance: The M4 chip powers through just about anything, if your wanting to get the M4 Pro its not needed for 99% of people. The M4 chip powers through anything you can ask for besides gaming. Photo editing, music production, coding you think it and the M4 chip can do it. Now the fan will spin up if you’re doing something super intensive however for most people you will not hear the fans and the MacBook will be great for anything you use it for as long as the application is optimized for MacOS. I would recommend though getting more than 16 gigs of ram, people will swear that you don’t need it but this is not true. I have had 7 tabs open and 2 or 3 other programs and I will notice slowdown, not only that I have had it freeze up on me. The freezing maybe due to a program running in emulation and I feel if I had more ram this wouldn’t be an issue. The MacBook has been standard when it comes to what a laptop should be and it continues to be that in a good amount of areas. MacOS still isn’t the best when it comes to file management and the amount of programs that are available still doesn’t compare to windows and it most likely never will but that ok as mostly everything is run through browsers for most people. Has the Macbook Pro fallen behind in certain respects to other laptops…..yes but that still doesn’t change the fact that it's still overall the best. Not only is it an excellent device all around but it is the one with the least amount of compromises.
