An Exceptional Balance of Power and Portability Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) I am a Mac user for many years and started using the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip - 24GB Memory - 512GB SSD for about a month now, and it has quickly become favorite for commute uses. Performance: The M4 Pro chip is incredibly powerful. Multitasking is seamless, and it handles tasks like video editing, 3D rendering, and complex spreadsheets with ease. M4 Pro zips through these tasks like lightning and supports multi external monitors sometimes even better than use 16-inch M3 Pro which I use as a desk top machine (not easy to carry around). Specific Uses: Microsoft Office Excel: I use personal budget templates for planning and keeping track of income, expenses, savings, and investments. The M4 Pro handles complex spreadsheets effortlessly. Technical business uses: When it comes to searching through technical literature, creating summaries, data analysis, and new application designs, the M4 Pro is incredibly fast and efficient. Web Browsing: Web searches, scrolling, and data downloads, even on super high-content sites, are silky smooth.

The MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip is a beast. There hasn't been any task that I throw at it that it hasn't been able to handle and the fans have been quiet enough when I've used them that I haven't noticed them for the most part. The battery life could be better but it's still great. I recommend getting a 96W to 140W adapter for fast charging but the 70W adapter is sufficient albeit slow. It's hard to explain but the screens on the MacBook Pros are done an incredible disservice in store lighting. They look so much better in person than they do in store and are a huge step up from the already good displays of the MacBook Air models.

This MacBook is as smooth as silk. The transitioning between tabs and applications is seamless and effortless. Synching with my iPhone is simple and it creates a web of constant connectivity no matter where I am or what I am doing. Going for the 24GB RAM might have been a little overkill for what I do but I am future proof if things change. Not sure why it took me so long to switch from Windows but no matter, I won't ever go back. My only complaint is that it does not support dual monitors daisy chained out of the box like my thinkpad did but it is easily corrected with an adapter.

It was finally time to upgrade my laptop. I had been making do with an older MacBook Pro from 2014 which still works fine for surfing the web and checking emails. But when I needed to do more, it just couldn’t. Enter the MacBook Pro M4 Pro. It’s gorgeous, fast, and has excellent battery life. Not too heavy either. I’m very happy with my new baby! I stopped buying windows laptops years ago and have been slowly replacing my machines with Macs. The beauty of the 14 inch MacBook Pro is its size and weight for portability. If I need a bigger screen, I can connect it to a larger monitor or TV. Of course, the OS and AI integration helps me do more in terms of productivity. I might not be the average user in that I hardly do any video editing, but as a developer, I have multiple virtual machines open, I'm running code on 3 or 4 IDEs, while watching a video on a small browser window at the corner. When traveling, I typically don't bring the charger if for a day or day and a half, as the battery life is out of this world. I used to shy away from Macs because of the up front cost. However, they last so long that in the long term, it's more cost effective than even the high end windows laptops. I get it, it's an entirely OS issue, it's the different parts, drivers, manufactures, etc. But from an end user's perspective, the constant driver updates, installation failures, or Windows updates that conflict with current driver versions, etc., makes it annoying and frustrating, especially for non-technical people. With Macs, no need to worry about that. It just works! And you just get to work on what matters.
