I've been needing to upgrade since the m1 came out. I'd been using the m1 MacBook Air with 16GB unified memory before upgrading to this laptop. I've own the m2, m3 and m4 airs and saw no real performance improvements compiling my Xcode projects and would end up returning them just to keep using my m1 air. That is until I bought this one. compiling is a lot quicker, android studio has a bit more memory to hog up now, running a few 7b llm's like qwen coder 2.5 7b runs nice, 29/35 tokens isn't the fastest but it does the job. Final Cut, photoshop, affinity photo all work as expected, but with these app I saw no real performance gain from my m1 air aside from coding. It's an overall great laptop, the battery lasts all day, fan never kicks on, does get warm from time to time, the space black is still fingerprint prone. Just wish they had the nano texture display when I purchased this one. It's a no brainer if you want to upgrade from an m1.

Apple really knows how to handle new computer setup. This computer is amazing on so many levels it’s crazy! The speed, display picture and detail are amazing. The 14inch monitor screen feels so much bigger than what you see while you’re working on it! The M4 chip is really amazing as it captures my stream Love the darker color. Super fast. Plows through video rendering that would frequently crash my aging PC in no time. Takes some serious extended processing to even trigger the fan, so it's almost always silent. And when the fan does go into high, its very quiet. Planning on buying another one for my daughter to use for school!

The 14‑inch MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip is an excellent all‑round “power user” laptop: it’s overkill for everyday work, fast enough for serious creative pro apps, very quiet, and has outstanding battery life, but it’s still limited for high‑end gaming and impossible to upgrade later. It’s the sweet spot if you want more GPU and memory bandwidth than the base M4 without paying M4 Max money. Performance and chip The M4 Pro in the 14‑inch model offers up to a 14‑core CPU and 20‑core GPU with 273 GB/s memory bandwidth, which is a big step up from the base M4, especially in multi‑core and graphics‑heavy work like video editing and 3D. Benchmarks show M4 Pro CPU performance roughly on par with or better than last‑gen M3 Max in many multi‑core workloads, so it comfortably handles heavy timelines, large RAW photo batches, and software development. The integrated GPU is around 30% faster than the old M3 Pro GPU and can approach laptop RTX 4070‑class performance in synthetic tests, but in real gaming it still trails high‑end Windows gaming laptops and is limited by macOS game support. Display, build, and portability The 14.2‑inch Liquid Retina XDR display is extremely bright, very color‑accurate, and supports ProMotion up to 120 Hz, which makes both media and scrolling feel very smooth. You can now get a nano‑texture option that cuts reflections significantly, which is great if you work under bright lights but can be slightly more delicate to clean. Build quality is top‑tier: the chassis is rigid, the hinge is smooth, and it feels dense but still reasonably portable at around 3.4 pounds, though the Space Black finish shows fingerprints more than Silver. Battery life, thermals, and noise Battery life is a major strength: light to moderate use often runs well beyond a full workday, and even mixed creative workloads do not drain it as quickly as many Windows competitors. Under sustained load, the 14‑inch M4 Pro maintains high performance with minimal throttling thanks to efficient silicon and active cooling. Fans rarely ramp up loudly; most everyday tasks remain essentially silent, and even during exports or code compiles noise stays unobtrusive compared with typical performance laptops. Ports, storage, and limitations Port selection is strong for a compact pro machine: you get multiple USB‑C/Thunderbolt ports, HDMI, an SD card slot, and MagSafe, so you can plug in monitors, fast storage, and cameras without living on dongles. RAM and storage are all unified and soldered, so you must buy the configuration you need up‑front; 16 GB is fine for many users, but 24–36 GB or more is smarter for heavy video, 3D, or lots of VMs. The main downsides are price, lack of internal upgradability, and the fact that AAA gaming is still better served by a Windows laptop with a high‑end NVIDIA GPU, despite the M4 Pro’s very capable GPU on paper. Who it’s best for Excellent choice if you: Do video editing, photo work, music production, development, or AI/ML prototyping and want a compact but powerful Mac with elite battery life. Prefer a 14‑inch size for travel or commuting but do not want to sacrifice pro‑level performance and pro‑grade display quality. Less ideal if you: Primarily play modern AAA games and want maximum FPS and game library; a Windows RTX laptop will still be better. Need cheap, user‑upgradeable RAM and SSDs or are on a tight budget; the M4 Air or base M4 Pro with lower specs might be better value.

Absolutely blown away by the MacBook Pro 14! The performance is just staggering—it handles everything I throw at it, from heavy video edits to running multiple demanding apps at once, without even breaking a sweat. The ProMotion XDR display is stunningly vibrant and smooth, making everything from coding to watching movies a joy. Plus, the battery life is phenomenal; I can easily get through a full workday on a single charge. It’s a powerhouse of a machine in a sleek, portable package. Best laptop I've ever owned, hands down.

The MacBook Pro M4 is a fantastic purchase for power users. It boasts incredible battery life, a stunning nano-texture display, and impressive performance with the M4 chip. The sharper 12MP webcam and additional Thunderbolt port are great additions. However, the SSD could be faster, and it's not the best for gaming. Overall, it's a top choice for productivity and creative tasks.

An Exceptional Balance of Power and Portability Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) I am a Mac user for many years and started using the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip - 24GB Memory - 512GB SSD for about a month now, and it has quickly become favorite for commute uses. Performance: The M4 Pro chip is incredibly powerful. Multitasking is seamless, and it handles tasks like video editing, 3D rendering, and complex spreadsheets with ease. M4 Pro zips through these tasks like lightning and supports multi external monitors sometimes even better than use 16-inch M3 Pro which I use as a desk top machine (not easy to carry around). Specific Uses: Microsoft Office Excel: I use personal budget templates for planning and keeping track of income, expenses, savings, and investments. The M4 Pro handles complex spreadsheets effortlessly. Technical business uses: When it comes to searching through technical literature, creating summaries, data analysis, and new application designs, the M4 Pro is incredibly fast and efficient. Web Browsing: Web searches, scrolling, and data downloads, even on super high-content sites, are silky smooth.

By far the best laptop I've ever used. The battery life is great and the screen is very bright and sharp. This thing is a rocket and flies through any tasks I throw at it. I use a hub to drive 2 external monitors and this setup never misses a beat. Keyboard and trackpad are top notch. Quality is amazing.

MacBook has been awesome to use thus far... I have been Windows user since Windows came out so making the change to IOS has been a task but coming along slowly... IOS and the MacBook M4 Pro has been flawless and integrates well with with my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my Mac Mini M4 Pro as well as my family members iPhones as well... I was a Android beta tester for years before making the move over the IOS and Apple so far things are more smooth. The MacBook is very fast and I use it mainly for video editing with Davinci and Photography using GIMP and some Lightroom. What use to take 30-35 minutes to render on my Windows computer takes less then five minutes on my MacBook... sometimes I look up and the render is done leaving wondering if I even clicked the render button... It has enough ports the display is awesome and I am over all happy with my purchase.

    My MacBook M4 Pro

This laptop offers a vibrant display with nice colors, making it a great option for everyday use and media consumption. It runs smoothly for most tasks, including web browsing and light productivity. However, when it comes to heavy editing—such as video or photo editing—it does slow down a bit. One improvement I’d suggest is increasing the hard drive space, as more storage would benefit users with larger files or more demanding workflows. Overall, it's a solid choice for general use, but may not be ideal for intensive work without a few upgrades.

Bought for my son who is studying the music and entertainment business industry (and who makes a LOT of music). This was recommend by several friends who own some sort of a video producing company (real estate, local commercials, music director for large church, etc). It came perfectly secure and ready to be used. Easy dealing with Best Buy as well, and my son can add Apple Care to protect it. He has already started mixing music and seems grateful for the speed in which it works. Happy with my purchase so far.

Haven’t upgraded for a few years, and wow… The M chips are just so much smoother than the intel chips. The added ram is nice even thought it works differently verses all being uses at once. Look into it. I do recommend a minimum of 1TB of storage if you’re a creative individual in any field, but if you don’t want to spend the extra money, just get an external hard drive.

I recently purchased the 14” MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip, and I’m extremely satisfied. The performance is incredibly fast—perfect for multitasking, video editing, and running demanding software. The display is vibrant and sharp, and the battery lasts all day. It’s a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it for the quality and power you get. Highly recommend for professionals or anyone needing a reliable, high-performance laptop.
