Doesn't play well with others

I know Apple has a track record of lasting forever, and it's doing just fine. My biggest issue is that converting to Apple is the biggest hassle ever. Especially, if you don't want to completely drink the Kool-Aid and have everything be Apple. It took hours of tech support just to get some pictures from my Galaxy S10 onto my MacBook. (I was told probably 15 times how unusual it is for someone to have a non-Apple phone and an Apple computer... not exactly helpful. And also, it shouldn't be that outrageous.) It's been two and a half years, and I still can't get my external hard drive with files for work (which uses Windows) to work with my MacBook either. It's great that it's lasted longer than a couple years, unlike many of my PCs, but it's really troublesome to do anything with Apple and any other device. I need a ton of hubs to plug in USB cords or HDMI or literally anything, and they are PRICEY--especially when no other plug I use can actually connect directly to the computer. I realize if I succumbed to Apple and used only their products, it might simplify; however, many of their other products aren't actually the best, so... now I'm stuck.

Apple Pro is a great laptop

This is my first apple laptop and when I went to load the Microsoft I received a pop up with a phone number to call to assist. They logged on, I saw that it was turned off and they advised me that I needed to purchase a good firewall. I told them no thanks, hung up and turned on my firewall.
