Customers love the MacBook Pro 16" for its impressive performance and large screen size, frequently praising its ease of use and the innovative Touch Bar. While some users mention the high price point and heat generation, many appreciate the lightweight design and excellent speakers. Concerns about the limited port selection and fan noise were also noted.

This computer had someone’s Apple ID loaded onto it. This should have been cleaned up prior to sale. It just died after three years and lost the ability to boot.

I bought the 2019 Macbook Pro i9 in August of 2019, which cost almost $3k with Apple Care. It is now November 2020, and the logic board failed.. this is after a year of light use, exclusively at home. It has never been dropped and nothing has ever spilled on it. It just randomly died out of the blue. One thing I did notice is that it does run extremely hot, even during normal use. Basically if the screen is on for more than like 30 minutes, it overheats. I’m guessing this is why the logic board failed so soon. Anyway, for the price, it is not worth it considering how unreliable it is. But if you do decide to get it, definitely purchase Apple Care. You’ll need it.

Major power issues, drains to 0% while plugged in

I would not recommend this laptop, but if you do buy it don't upgrade the CPU and graphics card. The power supply provides 100W but even when just using Chrome the laptop needs 130W for the i9 CPU and Radeon 5500, so by design, it draws power from the battery to supplement. The problem is if you're using this for work and using XCode or Photoshop or Final Cut you'll drain it to 0% easily because the battery itself doesn't last long. It's like borrowing from savings to pay your bills--if you don't spend less or earn more you'll eventually have no savings. The battery has a very short life and doesn't come anywhere close to what Apple claims--If you were just on battery power you have about 1-1.5 hours of light browsing. I've had this laptop for 1 year and have drained it to 0% 30+ times--each time with it plugged in. I've left it in power save mode with the screen off and the laptop plugged into power and come back 1.5 hours later to find it drained to 0%. Look it up "16" MacBook pro power problems" on Youtube. Everyone who has this laptop and uses it for anything more than browsing has this issue, which is ridiculous for a $3-4k machine. I write apps and using XCode with the laptop plugged in requires that I still periodically close the lid and let it recharge. And because the problem gets worse for higher-end CPUs and graphics cards, the more you spend, the more often your laptop will drain to 0%. Apple has said this behavior is by design. It is the most expensive and worst-performing computer I've owned in 30 years.

Buyer beware logic board issues common STILL

The fundamental chips are the same as the 2018-2019 15” model and apparently it’s still common to have logic board issues. I’m three days past my return period and I’m dead certain my unit has a bad logic board. In particular the embedded graphics crash the system.
