I needed a laptop with a built-in DVD/CD unit so this was the only alternative among this brand. The other option was to buy a different model and also the external SuperDrive but that would not always work well for my need. I have been a Mac user for many years and I have to say while this laptop is good, it is no longer excellent as they used to be. I always felt Macs were far better than the competition, today I think the competition is closer than ever. Here is my review: The good: -Nice screen (it may not be the Retina, but the image quality is still great) -Has a built-in DVD/CD unit -It performs well with most applications (exceptions listed below) -The trackpad is great (the only issue is listed below), most users may not need a mouse with this laptop -Nice look -Great operating system, overall very stable -Safari 8 is very fast The bad: -This is a Mid 2012 model, the hardware has not been updated -Preview (the default image viewer software) frequently crashes -The laptop takes a long time to start -It performs slowly with current video and photo editing software -The trackpad is noisy -It does not include a DVD to restore the operating system as older models used to. You can make your own USB install drive, but I think it should have been included. Summary: This is a good laptop, but before buying review other models first.

I bought this as my first Mac for College. I already had an iPhone and IPad mini so decided it was time for a MacBook for school after my Sony Vaio was too old and almost non functional. I love my new MacBook, it does everything I need and and then some. Trust me if you are thinking of switching to Mac you will love this computer!

A great machine for the money, easy to use and not hot when you keep it on your lap. Would give it a 5 star rating, and recommend it to a friend. Liked it so much i got one for my daughter. The product is the best laptop I have ever worked on, plan to use it to store pictures and all my personal notes. I love the screen size and the fact that I can enlarge the print and pictures. With my eye site this is very is very important to me.

I love my Mac Book Pro. I used one my entire teaching career to managing my grade book, creating documents, cut-and-paste layouts, researching lesson plans, all of it. After trying others, I found the Mac really suited my retirement lifestyle, just as it had suited me so well during my professional teaching career.

It's not hard to predict that this model will soon go away. Apple has moved into the retina age for the MacBook Pros, so these are still just hanging out somewhere between a Macbook and a MBP Retina. That doesn't mean that these aren't worth buying. For $1100 you can get one with an i5 and 4GB of RAM, toss a solid state drive in it for $150 and some more RAM for $100 and you've got a machine that is super capable of handing whatever your needs are. Right out of the box, they're okay, but if you invest just a little in them, they totally rock!

Delivery was 1 week earlier than expected. The laptop came and works wonderfully. Blazing fast and fully functional , exceeding all my expectation. Could not be any happier with this purchase. This MacBook Pro runs faster than any laptop I have ever owned , including my Dell XPS. Great product delivered by a very retailer.

This is my second MacBook Pro. The previous is still running great after nearly four years and we needed another computer for business that could communicate wireless with another Apple Product. I"ve had PC's in the past and will never go back. Three iPhones, two iPads, two MacBook Pro's, and Apple TV work great and are easy to use. I was concerned about copying all of the data from my old MacBook to my new one. As I was going through the set-up, it asked me if I wanted to copy all data. Of course I did and it provided easy step-by-step instruction to do so. I also like how the look, feel and size are the same after over three years as the previous computer. All of my accessories fit/work like the previous MacBook. Great platform!!!

Purchased MacBook for returning to school. Portable and easy to use. Purchased office for Mac with this and the two pair up seemlessly. Only drawback is the 4gb of RAM but it is easily upgraded to 8.

I recently bought this Mac after having an older MacBook for about 7 years. I was hesitant, since Mac's are so expensive but I'm really glad I invested in this one! It's true that "you get what you pay for" and this Mac is definitely worth the cost. It's easy to set up, use and work through! It handles basics tasks (web, email, MS Office programs) quickly and I'm confident I can use it with even more complicated programs down the line. What I like the most about it is that while it's a new generation, the system hasn't changed too much (not like with PCs when a new OS usually means getting used to entirely new processes). This MacBook seems to be a tweaked and improved version of my old one instead of something completely different!

I've been looking at Macs for so long and I've always had a hard time choosing the right one. I finally decided that this would be the best and what I can afford, being a college student and all. It works very well, and I haven't had any issues really so far. My only complaint is I can't connect my android to it, I would like to put music on my phone. I also wish there were more accessories available, but overall the computer is great, runs great, super fast and efficient. Great buy even if that means I'll be eating Ramen for months.

The purchase of my macpro was painless and I even ended up saving with and open box. The mac was just as promised it was like new and has been an asset to me in school, and business. If you want ease of use and a great operating system this is the way to go. Bye Felicia to the PC never again. Long Live Apple.

Great to edit video on location, powerful and long lasting battery. Its a bit heavier compared with similar sized laptops, but is thougher also.

The Mac book was required for my daughters program in college. This is my second Mac bought at Best Buys and will continue to buy all items from you! The customer service at the Mobile Al location is Great and the staff is always helpful! Sometime they are short handed, but once you get help they are very helpful.
